Nora Pauline Browning Parrish passed away at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, Mo. on February 5, 2015 at the age of 101.
She was born March 19, 1913 to the late Frank and Beulah Browning in French Lick Springs, Indiana. She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. On May 7, 1937 she was married to Lawrence W. Parrish in Louisville, Ky. They lived in Pittsburg, Pa., Kansas City, Mo., and Bella Vista, Ar. before moving to Spring River Christian Village in Joplin in 1988. Mr. Parrish was deceased in 1995. Nora was a member of College Heights Christian Church. P.E.O. Chapter GA, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. She is survived by a son, Gene Parrish of Burbank, Ca., a daughter Pat Ganser and husband Leroy of Leawood, Ks., granddaughters Gail Ganser and husband Craig Tiller of Forest, Va. and Karen Ganser of Shawnee, Ks., and four great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at the chapel of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory on February 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Alan Britnall & Rick Bushnell officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Memorials may be made to College Heights Christian Church or Ozark Christian College in Joplin. Nora lived independently until the age of 97, and was blessed by her many friends of all ages. The family wishes to thank the staff at Spring River Christian Village for their care and compassion. A special thanks goes to Mom’s band of angels, who continually showered her with cards, treats and visits. She was truly loved, and will be greatly missed.
