Phillip Leo Immesote, age 71 of Grove, OK, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
Born November 9, 1943 in Hutchinson, KS, he was the son of the late O.B. and Beulah Dewater Immesote and grew up in Hutchinson. Following his service in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1960’s, he began working for Winchester Packing House in Hutchinson. He became a Union Steward for the Meat Packers Union, Local No. 340 in Wichita, later serving as Secretary-Treasurer. He retired in 1994 as Executive Vice President of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union in Washington, DC. Phillip had also made his home in Joplin, MO. He loved boating and fishing at Grand Lake and loved to visit the ocean in Florida.
In 1964, he married Maxine J. Redd at Hutchinson. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Craig Immesote of Grove; two daughters, Debbie Dankelson and husband Dean of Carl Junction, MO, Jennifer Woody and husband Shane of Carl Junction; seven grandchildren, Kristofer Immesote, Madison Immesote, Joseph Dankelson, Jacob Woody, Katie Dankelson, Coleton Woody and Jeffery Dankelson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin. A private memorial will be held by the family. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or American Lung Association, in care of the mortuary.
