Bobby Gene English, age 87 of Joplin, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Born July 2, 1928 in the Belleville area northwest of Joplin, he was a son of the late Merill and Dolly Sullinger English and lived in the Joplin area most of his lifetime. An electrician, he worked for Covert Electric Supply for many years. A talented musician, he played steel guitar and performed in a band at many venues in the area. He later performed for several senior citizen gatherings. He was a Christian. He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime.
On January 28, 1950, he married Barbara Jean Nivens at Bentonville, AR. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2004. A sister, Lorene Sherman; and two brothers, Leo and Bennie English, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Sandy Arnold of Carl Junction and Donna English of Joplin.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Carl Junction Cemetery with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
