Dennis Dighero

Dennis Joe Dighero, age 63, of Lamar, passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Friday, August 7, 2015 north of Lusk, Wyoming.

Dennis was born February 14, 1952, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the first of the three sons of George and Dee (Burke) Dighero. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1970 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University. Dennis had owned and operated a U.S. Cellular Telephone Company in Joplin, Missouri as well as being a pro angler for several years. He then built a business in accounting, purchasing and operating H & R Block Tax Firms in Lamar, Missouri and Pittsburg, Parsons, and Girard, Kansas.

Always active in his community, Dennis was a member of Lamar Metro Club; Barton County Elks Lodge, and Lamar Masonic Lodge. He was a formidable snooker player, enjoyed the fellowship of Thursday night card games as well as Friday night dinner rides and long bike trips with his partner of more than 20 years, Deana Dockery. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and spend time on the farm.

Survivors include his father, George Dighero, Lamar; two brothers, Steve Dighero, Fayetteville, Arkansas and George (Tammy) Dighero, Lamar; three nephews, Tyler Dighero, Ozark, Missouri, Justin (Chelsea) Dighero, Lamar, and Casey Dighero, Fayetteville; a niece, Holly Shea (Fernando) Mendez, Fayetteville; a great-nephew, Andrew Mendez and great-nieces, Lily & Georgi Dighero, all of Fayetteville; his Dockery family; and a host of close friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12th at Lamar United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from noon until service time. Please come ready to share a special memory or story of good times spent with Dennis and Deana. Full military honors will be conducted at the service. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery at a later date.
