Marie Brown

Marie L. Brown, age 92 of Joplin, passed away at 9:44 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital.

Marie was born June 23, 1923 in Paradise, KS, the daughter of the late Albert Miller and Myrtle Doggett Miller. She graduated from Beloit High School in Beloit, Kansas, and in September of 1942 she married Norrell H. (Brownie) Brown. They lived in Joplin from 1950 until 1961 at which time they followed Norrell’s career, and lived in several cities until returning to Joplin in 1971. She was a longtime active member of Blendville Christian Church. Most of her time she devoted to taking care of Norrell and her family. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Norrell, who died November 27, 2000; a son, Gary Lee Brown; three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her children, Janet Ruth Will and husband Kenneth of Lilburn, GA; son, Stephen A. Brown and wife Angie of Joplin; five grandchildren, Lisa Morris and husband Mike of Bella Vista, AR, Brian Brown and wife Rachel of Warrensburg, MO, Leanne Mills and husband John of Centerton, AR, Stuart Will and wife Cara of Conroe, TX, Diana Heuett and husband Eric of Atlanta, GA; ten great-grandchildren, Levi, Matthew, Logan, Reese, Sara, Jack, McKinley, Hartley, Adelyn and Emerson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday, August 17th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Virgil Eubanks, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.



The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Foundation of Dementia Care or Alzheimer's Association, in care of the mortuary.
