Rev. Donald Gene Martin, 81, formerly of Carthage, passed away Saturday August 8, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Donald was born October 12, 1933 in Ardeta, MO. He was the son of Thomas Elbert Martin and Stella Bell Martin. Donald had been a lifelong resident of Carthage. He was a retired Hospital Engineer, a Minister and he owned and operated Martin Plumbing for 20 years in the Carthage area. Donald grew up in the Church of God at Case and Sycamore, he was a member of the Freedom Life Church of God in Tulsa, OK and a member of the Good Sam’s Travel Club.
Donald was united in marriage to Wanda Jean Erskin on March 22, 1952 in Carthage. She survives. Other survivors include three sons; Danny Martin of Sands Spring, Ok., Dennis Martin and Keith Martin both of Carthage, one daughter Marsha Bechler of DeSoto, MO, two brothers Selvey Martin of Disney, Ok and Hansel Martin of Enid, OK and one sister Brenetta Royster of Carthage. Six grandchildren Timothy, Pamela, Alicia, Tamara, Heather, Chance, 4 step grandchildren, Brandy, Frankie, Dena and Ashley and several great grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Church of God at Case and Sycamore. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park Cemetery. On line condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.
