Naomi Alms

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Naomi “Geraldine” Alms, age 79, of Joplin, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Friday August 7, 2015, following an illness.

Geraldine was born on March 10, 1936 in Christian County, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Retta (Wiggins) DeWitt. She has been a lifetime area resident. She married Bob Alms on November 10, 1952 in Harrison, Ar. Together they had four children. She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Joplin and has been a devout Christian her entire life. She raised her family in the Church and instilled in them the importance of Christian values. Geraldine “Naomi” worked as a door greeter at the Carthage Wal-Mart store. She also worked as a hostess and usher for the Shoji Tabuchi Theatre in Branson for sixteen years.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Bob Alms, Carthage; her son Greg Alms and wife Debra, Branson, Mo.; three daughters, Angie Shields and husband Steve, Stotts City, Mo., Marsha Hutchison and husband John, Oak Ridge, Tn., and Beth Alms, Carthage, Mo.; six brothers, Bill DeWitt, Chadwick, Mo., Bob DeWitt, Ben DeWitt, Warren DeWitt, Garland DeWitt and Jerry DeWitt, all of Ozark, Mo.; two sisters, Marilyn Estes, Springfield, Mo., and Juleen DeWitt, Carthage, Mo.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ray De Witt; and three sisters, Georgia Walters, Blanche Dean, and Jean Walker.
Geraldine’s favorite thing to do was spend money on her grandchildren. She enjoyed music and singing in Church for many years with her friend Mildred Jones. She will be missed here on earth by her family and friends, but will no doubt be waiting for us at the pearly gates when it is their time to enter saying “Welcome To Heaven”
.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend John Newberry will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
