Bob Goodson

Robert H. "Bob" Goodson, age 89 of Joplin, passed away on June 2, 2022. He was born to the late Mary and Clarance Goodson in Carthage , Missouri and attended high school in Sarcoxie, Missouri. 

Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in Germany from 1953 to 1954. Following his stint in the military, Bob attended Pittsburg State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business. 

He married Donna (Jackson) Goodson in 1965, enjoying 57 years of marriage.








Bob is survived by his wife, Donna, daughter Angela and husband Robert Gillespie, granddaughters Mary Goodson and Brittanie Harter, brother Gary Goodson, sisters Linda Goodson and Mary Katherine Walters and his beloved dog, Rocket.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Clarance Goodson, his son Rob Goodson, brother Tommy Goodson and sister Georgia "Evelyn" Goodson.

Without a doubt, Bob's lifelong passion was building, fixing and owning vintage automobiles. He had a particular love of Ford Mustangs. Bob was owner and operator of a Texaco gas station and garage from its first location on 1st street in Joplin to its final location on 32nd and Main until his retirement in 2017.








As well as being an avid attendee of all manner of swap meets and car shows, Bob was a Shriner for over 33 years. He was also a voracious reader and lover of animals, often having an appointed "station cat" at his garage.

He is remembered by all who knew him as "one of a kind." He loved nothing more than to visit with friends and colleagues at the station to talk cars and share numerous stories.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their stories and memories of Robert "Bob" Goodson. Bob will be interred with the rest of his family at Reeds Cemetery at Reeds, Missouri.
