(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Christopher Brian Bowen of Joplin, MO, age 46, passed away on June 2, 2022. Chris was born in Aurora, MO on October 16, 1975 to Ronald and Saundra (Schiska) Bowen. He was a resident of Joplin since 1985 and graduated from Joplin High School in 1994.
Chris played sax in the Joplin school bands and in the SMSU Pride Band. He was a member of the SMS Band at the Rose Bowl Parade in 1995.
Chris enjoyed cooking and grilling at family gatherings and tailgate parties at the KC Chief’s Games. A tough one was the Chiefs vs Packers, he liked them both but was happy when KC played a great game and won.
The more cousins, aunts, uncles and friends that were together made him more excited about grilling. His cousins Missy, Amy, and Jacob enjoyed playing at the House on the mountain in Ozark. At Joe and Wilma’s in Pierce City cousins Pam and Jennifer joined in to make the Schiska home a wonderful place.
He also cared for his Corgi Sam and all his cats. Please support your local shelters!
Survivors include his parents, Ron and Saundra Bowen of Joplin, several much-loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, his Uncle Ed and Aunt Susie.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin.
