Denise Womble

Denise Anne Womble, age 55, of Joplin passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Denise, daughter of the late John Womble and Dorothy Fry, was born on April 28, 1967 in Oklahoma City, OK. Denise was currently a district instructional coach for ESL (English as a Second Language) at the Carthage R-9 School District where she began as a teacher in 2006.








As a single mom, Denise continued her education beginning with her Bachelor of Arts in English and Education in 1995 from Missouri Southern State University and then attained her Master of Science in Teaching from Pittsburg State University in 2015. 

She enjoyed cooking, watching Alabama football, and listening to her favorite music and band, The Grateful Dead. Denise was a self-taught pianist and a lover of the beach and ocean. She was a longtime member of the Faith Tabernacle Church of Joplin.

Survivors include her daughter, Eden Womble, of Rogers, AR; brother, Malcolm Thomas, and his wife, Michiyo, of Ventura, CA; sister, Carol Thomas, of Joplin, additional sisters, Linda, Wanda, and Sharon, all of Florida; sister-in-law, Wilma Tapalla, of Oxnard, CA; and nieces, Melinda De Jesus, and her husband, Jay, and their children, Jayson and Vincent, of West Covina, CA, and Michelle Bloom, and her husband, Matt, of Australia. 








In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sheri Thomas.

Denise Anne Womble, age 55, of Joplin passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday, June 3rd beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
