Amanda Morton

(From Ulmer Funeral Home)

Amanda Augusta Morton, age 98 years and eight months, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2023.

She was born December 4, 1924, in Gurdon, Arkansas, to John Warren and Lula Katherine (Kitchens) Reynolds. She grew up in Arkansas and when married, eventually moved to Illinois and then to Missouri. When her husband passed away, in 1994, she moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma, to live closer to her children.

Amanda attended the Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church, in Oklahoma City. She loved to read and follow politics, plant, and tend to her flowers, feed and watch the birds, she wasn’t a big TV watcher but did have her favorite church programs and old westerns she enjoyed. Her many worn Bibles reflected how much she read them and had many circled scriptures. She loved God and talked to her children, grandchildren and friends about doing the right thing and following Christ.

Survivors include her children, Melvin Yates and wife Martha of West Memphis, Arkansas; Janie Mann and husband Mickey of Norman, Oklahoma; and Kathy Wyatt and husband Fred of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, along with countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death, by her parents; her husband, William T.
