(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Walter Lee Scobee, 83, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Walter was born on April 26, 1940, in Granola, Kansas, to Charles Scobee and Fern “Wolfe” Scobee. He has lived in the Carthage area for over 20 years and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He worked on lifted trucks at Binney and Smith/Wiese for 40 years. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be missed greatly by his family.
He was united in marriage to Charlotte on February 17, 1979, in Winfield, Kansas; she survives. They celebrated 44 years of marriage this year.
Walter is survived by his wife Charlotte Scobee; two sons Terry Haak (Jennifier), Lonnie Scobee (Terry); four daughters Asley Aitken (Josh), Christine Johnson (Darin), Lisa Harrod (Eric), and Lori Johnson (Glen); seven grandchildren Taylor Haak, Kylee Scobee, Blake Johnson, Luke Aitken, Bailey Johnson, Madeline Stanley, and Levi Stanley; and two brothers Wayne Scobee (Lina), and Wilbur Scobee.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Fern Scobee and his brother Carl Gene Wolfe.
Walter’s family will be hosting a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Carthage, Missouri.
