Patti German

Born on November 29, 1952, Patti Rae German passed away in her sleep on August 24, 2023. She is predeceased by her parents and one brother.

Patti loved cats, Wordle, and playing the piano. She frequently played the piano during the lunch hour to the delight of her fellow residents of Good Shepherd. Her first passion, however, was all things theater.

Her interest in theater showed up in high school and continued through her years at Crowder College, Missouri Southern State University, and graduate school at Southern Illinois University.

Strongly influenced by President John F. Kennedy, Patti joined the Peace Corps team in Thailand, where she wrote, "I gained a love of travel and discovery of the world." That interest followed her back to the U.S., where she ultimately joined the Intensive English Program teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She later served as an admissions officer for international students.

Throughout this time her ongoing passion for theater led her to The Weekend Theater in Little Rock. She acted in or was stage manager of 21 plays in addition to serving on the executive board until her retirement. Patti wrote in her gratitude journal, "The Weekend Theater is my second home. I feel a sense of family there."

There will be a celebration of her life on September 24 at 2 p.m. at The Weekend Theater, 1001 W. 7th Street in Little Rock. All friends of Patti will be welcome.
