(From Benton County Funeral Home)With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Laura Ruth Perkin Hartronft, on December 27, 2024. After a life beautifully lived, full of love, laughter, and resilience, Laura left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Born on July 25, 1946, in Neosho, Missouri, she was the daughter of Ronald Henry and Barbara Louise Bullard Perkin. Laura was a devout member of the Episcopal Church, a retired therapist, ESL and kindergarten teacher, and held a master’s degree in psychology from Pittsburg State University.
A lifelong learner, Laura was most recently pursuing a four-year program of study covering the Old and New Testaments, the history of the Christian religion, and theology. Laura had a passion for helping those in need, as well as for sewing, crocheting, camping, canoeing, gardening, and caring for her cherished cats. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and loved ones. Her unwavering spirit and kindness will forever be remembered.
Predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Barbara Perkin; her brother, George Perkin (Linda); and her grandson, Patrick Cawthon.

Laura leaves behind her beloved husband Karl Edward Hartronft of Pineville, MO. She is also survived by her children, Don Schuler (Lori), Sandra Cawthon (Tony), and Brad Schuler (Kris); 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jim Perkin (Susan); and her dearest friend, Pam Trautmann. She was a friend to many and leaves a legacy of love, kindness and strength.
To celebrate Laura’s extraordinary journey, a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Neosho, Missouri. Please join us in honoring her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at ALZ.org or your Cancer Charity of Choice.
