(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)Scott Duval Gordon, 59, of Lamar, MO, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Monday, December 23, 2024. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend who touched countless lives with his kind heart and unwavering dedication.
Scott was born in Wichita, KS, to David and Frances (Perry) Gordon. He grew up in the suburb of Mount Hope until fifth grade, when his family moved to Lamar, MO. A proud graduate of Lamar High School’s Class of 1983, he then joined the National Guard. Scott was married to Cindy Boehne from 1986 to 2002. They had three children, Chelsie, Charity, and Zachary.
Scott had several careers. He drove a truck for Rice’s Feed and worked at Thorco for 28 years, where he excelled in various departments, ultimately specializing in estimating. Scott later pursued his passion for education, becoming a paraeducator while earning his teaching degree. He went on to serve as a high school Special Education teacher at Lamar High School, where he also drove the bus and contributed to maintenance.
Scott was a man of many talents and interests. He was known far and wide for his “Gordon Tacos” and had a deep love for his cows, bowling, golf, hunting, and watching sports. He enjoyed watching storms, collecting wind chimes, and coaching basketball and baseball. Above all, Scott cherished his family and the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren, and he was deeply dedicated to his students.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Kristi Gordon, who was the light of his life and reminded him daily of his love. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Chelsie (Brandon) Bowling of Republic, MO; Charity (Cody) Gardner; Zach (Cyrussia) Gordon; Marc (Elizabeth) Graves; Bethany (AJ) Eaves; Kaitlyn (Stanley) Hurt; Phajjia (Rylan) Woolridge; Riddick Gordon; Dominick Gordon; Jycoby Gordon; Rylee Gordon; Sophie Gordon; and Roman Gordon, all of Lamar, MO.
He was also a proud grandfather to Jaden, Adi, Anna, Chase, Payton, Kodi, Addi, Lane, Gwyneth, Grant, Saylor, Clayton, Madi, Preslee, and Koe. Scott is survived by his siblings: Isa West of Lamar, MO; David (Daylene) Gordon of Lamar, MO; Ralph Gordon of Garland, TX; Shawn (Brenda) Gordon of Lamar, MO; and Anna (Robbie) Kirkland of Branson, MO, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. He was deeply dedicated to and loved by his students, who were an important part of his life.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Allen Gordon and Will Gordon, and his mother-in-law, Dorris Westbay.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate Scott's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Lamar, MO, where he and his beloved wife, Kristi, were married on June 19, 2004.
Scott’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and steadfast love for his family and community will never be forgotten.
