Cheryl DeMasters

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Cheryl Sue DeMasters, age 74, passed away on January 24, 2026. She was born Cheryl Sue Harkrader on February 10, 1951, in Seneca, Missouri, to Lowell Harkrader and Zelpha Marie Macy, both of whom preceded her in death.

On May 2, 1975, Cheryl married Johnny DeMasters, and the two shared many years together until his passing on April 23, 2021. Their life together was built on love, loyalty, family, and a long line of stories that will continue to be told with both laughter and affection.

Cheryl was known for her sharp wit, grit, and unforgettable personality—tough, blunt, and delightfully foul-mouthed, with a saucy sense of humor and an honesty that left no room for guessing what she really thought. Yet behind that edge was a generous spirit and a big heart. Cheryl loved fiercely, listened fully, and made sure no one left her home without being welcomed—and no one ever left hungry.

Cheryl earned her associate’s degree in business and worked various jobs throughout her life. She retired after serving as a secretary with the Newton County Children’s Division, where her steady reliability and straightforward nature served her well.

Cheryl loved reading and had a lifelong love for horses and all animals. Her last horse, Diamond, was especially dear to her.

Family and friends have always treasured stories from Cheryl’s childhood. Her father once wrapped her in a raincoat just to show her off to the postman. She also received a $2.00 monthly government check as a girl and carefully saved until she was able to buy herself a $13 bathing suit—something she was proud of and never forgot.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Shelly Ann DeMasters of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and her son, Douglas Dean DeMasters of Hughes Springs, Texas.

Those who knew her will remember her strength and her spirit. As family friend Casey Thorne shared, “She had grit and a loving spirit.” He also recalled that if it hadn’t been for Cheryl and Johnny, he wouldn’t have experienced tractor pulls, rodeos, monster trucks, and dirt track racing—and that they included him when they didn’t have to, offering steady kindness, support, and plenty of good meals along the way.

A visitation will be held at Mason-Woodard Funeral Home on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Cheryl will be laid to rest at Hornet Cemetery.

Cheryl will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Redcloud Logan

(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)

Tony Michael Logan, Jr., known affectionately as “Redcloud,” passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Webb City, Missouri, on January 25, 2026, from natural causes. He was born on May 13, 1963, at McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage, Missouri, to Tony Michael Logan and Linda Joyce Craig Logan.

Redcloud earned his nickname shortly after birth at Jewell’s Tavern, a family business owned by his great-grandmother, when a Native American man who frequented the establishment quietly looked at his newborn red skin and cloudy sky and named him “Redcloud.” The name stayed with him throughout his life, sometimes shortened to Cloud, by his family and those close to him.

His early life was shaped by profound loss with the passing of his mother from birth-related complications while he was still an infant. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Texas with his father, where he spent much of his childhood in Corpus Christi and other towns across the state. During that time, he helped care for his younger brothers, a responsibility he carried with pride. Eventually, he returned to the Carthage area, where he attended St. Ann’s Catholic School and served as an altar boy. His Catholic faith remained central to his life, and his rosary was rarely far from reach.

Redcloud attended Carthage Senior High School and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Known for his easygoing nature and positive outlook, he had a rare ability to make others feel at ease. He always believed that things would, in his words, “honest, goodness, really truly” work out just fine. Those closest to him described him as a free spirit who found joy in simple moments and lived life at his own pace.

He had a deep love for aviation and flying, taking several flying lessons over the course of his life. He enjoyed looking at the night sky through his telescope, spoke fondly of fishing and his time living near the ocean, and was most comfortable barefoot or wearing flip-flops. He worked intermittently in construction, painting, and custom cabinetry, and was known for his creativity and resilience.

Throughout his life, Redcloud survived experiences that many believed would have taken him, including a severe car accident and numerous health challenges later in life. His family often joked that he had nine lives, a testament to both his endurance and his quiet strength.

Redcloud is survived by his siblings: Dan Logan and husband Mark Sprick, Shane Logan and wife Judy Logan, Jim Logan and wife Dawn Logan, Amberlee Miller and her husband Stephen Miller, and Juanita Logan; his aunt Becky Logan Massey; uncle Sam Logan and wife Sharon; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends who became family.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, Mo.

Gerry Taylor

(From Nelson-Berna Funeral Home)

Geraldine “Gerry” Marie Taylor, age 91, passed away peacefully and quietly on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Edgewood Health and Rehabilitation in Springdale, Arkansas after the long goodbye of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born April 3, 1934, in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of the late Horace Wilson and Ruby Viola Lacey Wilson.

Also preceding her in death was her sister, Marilyn, who died at birth.

A writer once reflected, “A quiet life is not a wasted one. Not everyone needs to dazzle. Some of us are here to observe gently, to offer biscuits and warm smiles, to clap for others without needing the spotlight. There’s a beauty in not being the loudest voice in the room. There’s a quiet power in showing up every day, being kind, and not needing the world to notice.” These words describe Gerry perfectly.

Content to be behind the scenes, Mom lived a life of humble service and found great joy in doing it. Along with her lifelong friend, Jeannette, she planned and hosted endless showers, parties, and events at her church. She visited hospitals and the elderly (even when she was elderly herself), she taught Sunday School, she was always close by with a casserole, a dessert, or a meal for anyone sick or grieving a loss.

She loved nature, trees, and flowers. She loved color and order and design. She could sew anything and was an accomplished decorator, making her modest home comfortable and beautiful. She was also unintentionally funny, with a sharp wit and an ironic delivery. She was fiercely protective of and loyal to her family and those she loved. She loved the Lord deeply and served Him all her life, working alongside her best friend and love of her life, Darrell. Certainly, there have already been many people greeting her in heaven to say thank you for being the hands and feel of Jesus to them.

Although the last years have seen a deterioration of her earthly mind and body, she continued to be a delight to the caring staff at The Bungalows Assisted Living and Edgewood Health and Rehab, who have shared that to be in “Ger-Bear’s” presence was to feel joy and happiness. While we are so sad to have lost Mom from this earth, our confidence is that she walks again, strong and confidently, in the gardens and forests of Heaven.

It is impossible not to talk about Gerry without Darrell. High school sweethearts that never had eyes for anyone but each other, they were married for 68 years (June 10, 1955) and were rarely apart. Mom thought Daddy was “so cute” and he thought she could do no wrong. They enjoyed gardening, working on house projects, and spending time with their friends. They were always up for a quick trip to Joplin, Fayetteville, or Little Rock to see their siblings and children. Darrell passed away January 16, 2023.

Gerry is survived by her son, Kent Taylor (Amy), her daughter Lacey Bingaman (Jamie), 3 grandchildren: Diana (Dave), Daniel (Jennifer), and Natalie; and 4 great-grandchildren, Asher, Oliver, Henry, and Charlie. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Kay Denman (Ernie), brother and sister-in laws Kent and Marilyn Taylor, niece and nephews Tiffany (Rob), John (Vimala), and Matt (Daisy), and great niece and nephew Evie and Xander. Finally, she is survived by the many brothers and sisters in Christ with whom she shared life and ministry in her 5 decades at Oak Cliff Baptist Church in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Their friendship meant the world to her and she missed them terribly when she moved.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, 4520 Crossover Road, Fayetteville. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. will precede the service. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 3700 N. Rangeline Road, Webb City, Missouri.
