Patricia Ramirez

Patricia Ramirez was born Sept. 19, 1959 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri the daughter of Leo and Opal (Sauls) Kearbey. She entered into rest on October 30, 2018 in Granby, Missouri following a long illness at the age of 59. Patricia moved to Neosho in the early 1990’s and worked as an over the road truck driver for 18 years. She loved Christmas and Halloween, was a huge Cowboy’s fan, loved her dogs and camping.

Patricia is survived by two children, Anthony Bradley of Poplar Bluff and Amanda Tippen of Holcomb, MO; her mother, Opal Mowry of Billings, MO; one brother, Jeffery Kearbey of Longmont, CO; one sister, Barbara Bateman of Neosho; three grandchildren, Alex Tippen, Mark Osbourn and Mary Osbourn and a stepbrother, Ernie Mowry of Eldon, MO.

She is preceded in death by her father; step father, Earl Mowry; step brother, Eric Mowry and step mother, Leota Kearbey.

Funeral services will be Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 at 2 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Pastor Melvin Stapp will officiate. Interment will be in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Jesse Noah, Jerry Sheilds, Ronnie Jones, Alex Tippen, Mark Osbourn and Gary Wynn. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 pm until service time.

Levy Sirmon

Levy Cleveland Sirmon, age 62 of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin following a sudden illness.

Levy was born on November 28, 1955 in Oneonta, Al., the son of Rufus and Jeanette (Kimbro) Sirmon. He attended Auburn University. Levy has been a long-time area resident, he worked as an Assistant Manager at Lowe’s for many years until he retired in 2016. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing, watching Auburn Tigers Football and spending time with his loving family.

He married Diane Holliday on February 27, 1982, she preceded him in death on February 13, 2016. Survivors include two sons, Jennings Sirmon and wife Hayley of Joplin, Shelton Sirmon stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.; one brother, Steve Sirmon of Montgomery, Al.; one sister, Susan Sirmon also of Montgomery; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Monday for a time of visitation.

Pat Compton

Patricia Joan “Pat” Compton, age 82, of Joplin, passed away on Monday October 29, 2018, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.

Pat was born on January 3, 1936 in Joplin, the daughter of Joe and Lena (Houk) Narrell. She has been a lifetime area resident. Pat married Charles Compton on November 20, 1953 at the site of the sunken ship in Pearl Harbor, while he was serving in the Navy in Honolulu, Hawaii . She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Saginaw Baptist Church. She served as president of the 7th District Democratic Party for several years. She also worked many years at the voting polls. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed sewing and painting. She loved spending time with her family.

Pat is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Charles Compton, Joplin; one daughter, Celia Whitehead, Carthage, Mo.; four grandchildren, Amy Kiefert and husband Pete, Leesburg, Va. Lindsey Smith and husband Tyler, Joplin, Matthew and Nate Compton, Joplin; one brother, David Narrell and wife Connie, Joplin, great-grandsons, Julian and William Kiefert, Leesburg, Va.; cousin, Mary Beth Yeakey and husband Dick; Joplin, two nephews, Scott Narrell and wife Julia, and Jay Narrell and wife Susan; and great-nephews and nieces, Lucy, Maggie, Nicholas, Benjamin, Josh, and Kate. Pat was preceded in death by a son, Mark Compton on February 6, 2015.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Saginaw Baptist Church. Reverend Don Miller and Father Michael Kuzara will officiate. Burial will be in Saginaw Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Memorial contributions maybe given to the Dialysis Unit at Freeman East in care of the mortuary.

Jack Butterfield

Jack Eugene Butterfield, age 86, of Neosho, Mo, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Mo.

Mr. Butterfield, son of Clyde E. and Alyce (Joachim) Butterfield, was born on October 12, 1932 in Ainsworth, NE. On August 2, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joan Hagen in Lincoln, NE. She preceded him in death in 1993. Jack grew up and went to school in Nebraska. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably. After the military, he was employed with the Nebraska Department of Transportation. In 1957 Jack transferred from Nebraska to the Missouri Department of Transportation. He was employed with MODOT until his retirement in 1988. 

On April 2, 1994, in Neosho, Mo Jack was united in marriage to Roselle Hofstetter Charles. She survives. Jack was a Mason and a member of the Royal Heights United Methodist Church in Joplin.

Survivors include his wife, Roselle Butterfield, of Neosho, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy Tomlinson and her husband David, of Shawnee, Ok, and Karen Stone and her husband Jeff, of Edmond, OK; two stepchildren, Dawn Charles of Moore, OK, and Jeffery Charles and his wife Crystal, of Monett, Mo.; one brother, William Butterfield, of Galena, Mo; one sister, Susan Lewis and her husband Wayne, of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren, Shelby Stone, Kyle Stone and his wife Mallory, Sage Sullivan and her husband Trevor, Malory Tomlinson, Zachary Charles and his wife Shaya, Alexander Charles, Courtney Charles, Christopher Rush, and Joeli Rush; and three great-grandchildren, August Rush, Danika Sullivan, and Harper Sullivan. In addition to his parents and first wife Joan, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Laura Butterfield, on September 5, 1995.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Royal Heights United Methodist Church in Joplin. Burial with military honors will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Royal Heights United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.

Patsy Bryant

Patsy Colleen Bryant, age 83 passed away at 3:20 am, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO following an illness.

Patsy was born December 28, 1934 in Miami, Oklahoma. Her parents were Benjamen and Hazel (Parish) Hall. She had lived in the Galena/Riverton area most of her life.

She was a homemaker. She had attended the Galena Assembly of God, and later the House of Prayer in Riverton. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing,

Patsy was married to James Junior Bryant on June 15, 1952 in Galena.. He preceded her in death May 31, 1996.

She is survived by 3 sons, Bruce Bryant (wife, Andrea) , Black River, NY, Perry Bryant, Pittsburg, KS, and Steve Bryant, Riverton; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home for cremation.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 16, 2018 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS

Wilma Ellen Trout, 88, of Liberal, Missouri, and former resident of Girard, Kansas passed away October 28, 2018 at her home in Liberal.

She was born December 26, 1929 in Pawnee Station, Kansas, the daughter of James and Helen (Ausemus) Russell.
Wilma married George A. Trout on September 25, 1948 in Lucedale, Mississippi. He preceded her in death.

She worked as a paraprofessional at Lamar School District.

Survivors include; son; Dennis (Brenda) Trout of Midenmines, MO, 7 daughters; Belinda Sue (Ralph) Ghumm of Oronogo, MO, Tina (Frank) Cheney of Carl Junction, MO, Kim (Darrell) Spurling of Liberal, MO, Rebecca (William) Wheeler of Lamar, MO, Veronica (Eric) Winklepleck of Pittsburg, KS, Amber Trout of Liberal MO, Jessica (Scott) Townsend of Pittsburg, KS, sister Joann DeGarmo of Girard, KS, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son; George Steven Trout, 3 sisters; Pearl Steffens, Maxine Kichler, Viola Boggs, 3 grandchildren; Jody Ghumm, Phillip Trout, Ashley Wheeler, and a great-grandchild; Autumn Cheney.

Dorris Mayfield

Dorris Pauline Mayfield, age 91, of Lockwood, Missouri passed away October 28, 2018 at Good Shepherd Community Care in Lockwood, Missouri.

Dorris was born January 21st, 1927 in Bronaugh to Gilbert Harold Mayfield and Ida Mable (Sisseck) Mayfield . Dorris graduated Liberal High School in 1945. After graduating, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she attend Dickinson Secretarial College and St. Teresa College. In 1956 she took a job with the Central Intelligence Agency as an Intelligence Analyst and was assigned to United States Embassies in Sudan, Egypt, Taiwan, Korea, South Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Hong Kong, Ethiopia, and Chicago. After retiring from the CIA in 1986, she lived in Florida for ten years until returning to Kansas City where she worked as a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital Historical Archives. In 2000, Doris returned to Liberal and later to Lamar, where she was active as the treasurer for the local OATS Bus organization. Dorris was raised as a Baptist and loved her cats, which she considered her children.

Dorris is survived by one brother, Dr. Donald Mayfield, Springdale, Arkansas; two sisters in law, Carolyn Mayfield, Belton, Missouri and Jane Mayfield, Lamar, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Vincil Mayfield in June 2018 and Howard Mayfield in 1999.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm , November 3, 2018 at Iantha Cemetery.

Richard Stevens

Mr. Richard Leon Stevens, 92, of Sarcoxie, Missouri departed this life on Sunday morning, October 28, 2018 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Richard entered this life on August 6, 1926 in Andersonville, Indiana to the union of the late Clennie and Mary (Linville) Stevens. He was a graduate of Andersonville High School and later attended technical school. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII, returning home in 1945.

On April 10, 1954 he was united in marriage to Sophia Hignite, together they shared fifty-seven years until her passing on October 16, 2011. He and Sophia came to Wentworth, Missouri in 1972 from California and later moved to Sarcoxie. Richard retired as a draftsman from Mid-Western Machinery in Joplin, Missouri. After retirement he was a volunteer driver for meals-on-wheels and was a tour guide for George Washington Carver Monument. Richard was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day in Joplin, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sophia; grandson, Matthew Stevens; brother, John Stevens; sisters, Pricilla Alford, Elizabeth Wicker and Naomi Martin.

Richard is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Mettlach of Sarcoxie, Missouri; a son, Mark Stevens of Neosho, Missouri; five grandchildren; two great granddaughters; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Stevens are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Sarcoxie Cemetery in Sarcoxie, Missouri with Pastor Vernon Peterson officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Mark Stevens, Justin Mettlach, Jeremy Gardner, Vodel Fox, Lloyd Walker and Vernon Peterson.

Carl James Lynch age 68 of San Antonio, Tx., formerly of Rogers, AR passed away Sunday October 28, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Tx. He was born on November 7, 1949 in Lubbock, Tx., the son of Carl and Laurel (Wacasey) Lynch.
Carl married Linda Carver on September 14, 1978 in Lubbock, Tx., she proceeded him in death on May 7, 2015. Carl received a degree in electronics from Northwest Technical Institute, he worked for the Jan Younte Realty Agency in Rogers Ar., until his retirement in 1992. He especially loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include three children: Cynthia Harris and husband Ken of Joplin, Deborah Miller and husband Brodie of Littlefield, Tx., James Lynch and wife Danielle of San Antonio TX, one brother; Tim Lynch and his wife Debbie of Rogers Ar., nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday November 2, 2018 at the Fairview Cemetery Joplin, Mo with son James officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 Friday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.

Rhonda Jordan

Rhonda Sue Jordan, age 56, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at her home after a four year battle with cancer.

Rhonda was born April 29, 1962 in Joplin, daughter of the late Glen and Delta Stayton. She grew up in Joplin, attended Memorial High School, and was a dispatcher with Jordan Disposal. She enjoyed baking, and was known for her elaborate wedding and anniversary cakes. She was also a big hit with her grandkids for her special birthday cakes.

In addition to her parents, Rhonda was preceded in death by a sister, Treva Ashworth.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Russell D. Jordan; son, Russell D. "Rusty" Jordan, Jr.; daughter, Amber G. Jordan; grandchildren, Hunter Jordan, Whitney Davis, Gillian Jordan, and Cole Davis all of Joplin; brother, Ed Stayton and wife Pam of Joplin; sisters, Nina Wells and husband Gayle of Grove, Oklahoma, Wilma Chester and Linda Carnes and husband Ronnie both of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery with Denny Carver officiating.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Greg Kassner

Greg E. Kassner was born August 26, 1961 in Landstahl, Germany to Edmund and Shirley (Embrey) Kassner. He entered eternal rest in Ozark, AR on October 29, 2018.

 Greg served in the National Guard for twelve years. He worked as a truck driver for Nutra Blend. Greg was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, watching Westerns, and he appreciated antique trucks.

Greg and the former Lisa Brashar were married May 17, 1986 in Anderson, Missouri; she survives of their Neosho home.

He is also survived by his mother, Shirley Kassner of Neosho; three children: Laura Crawford and husband, Collin of Neosho, Zachary Kassner and wife, Shawnna of Joplin, and Ethan Kassner and wife, Johanna of Anderson; two brothers: Murray Kassner of Joplin and Tom Kassner of Stark City;
one sister, Rowena Denison of Neosho;  six grandchildren and one grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edmund and an infant sister, Laura.

Services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Clark Funeral Home, Granby Chapel, Granby, MO, with Pastor Lynn Snapp officiating. Interment will follow at Dice Cemetery, Fairview, MO.

Marjorie Overstreet

Marjorie Adena Overstreet, 95, of Monett, MO, passed away Monday evening, October 29, 2018, at Lacoba Homes of Monett.

Marjorie was born on February 9, 1923 in near Granby, MO. The daughter of James Arthur Roberts and Sarah Jane (Perkins) Roberts, she married Raymond C. Overstreet on December 23, 1941, in Neosho, MO. They were married almost 67 years. She and Raymond became members of Clear Creek Baptist Church near Pierce City, MO, in the 1960’s and later joined First Baptist Church in Monett.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Overstreet on October 27, 2008. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Tilford Roberts, and three sisters: Merl Durbin, Pearl Trantham and Marie Coffey. In addition to being survived by one son, Lonnie Overstreet and wife Katie of Springfield, MO; and one daughter, Yvonne Overstreet Kerr and husband Tom of Monett, MO; she is also survived by six nieces: Virginia Hall of Powell, MO, Mary Hennessey of Neosho, MO, Betty Jones of Neosho, MO, Roselee Sinn of Manomet, MA, Mary Oxtoby of Wagoner, OK and Jeannette Gripka of Pierce City, MO; and four nephews, Jim Coffey of Jenks, OK, Larry Coffey of Tulsa, OK, Terry Coffey of Sands Springs, OK and Ron Durbin of Concord, NH.

Marjorie was a resident of Lacoba Nursing Home for a little over two years. She was very happy there and received excellent care.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett, MO and this visitation will be followed by a graveside service at Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, ten miles west of Monett at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shirley Reynolds

Shirley June Reynolds, age 78, Joplin, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at her home after a lengthy illness.

Shirley was born May 28, 1940 in Joplin, daughter of the late Cecil Gillion and Rena Nell Piper Gillion. She was a pastor's wife for 21 years, being by her husband's side while they pastored Bethel Apostolic Church. She was also a cook for the Joplin School District, and was co-owner of the family business, J.E. Reynolds and Sons Construction, which they operated for over 40 years. She was currently a member of Life Point Pentecostal Church of Joplin.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John E. Reynolds, who passed away on March 16, 2018, a brother, Jimmy Carl; four sisters, Mary Ellen Taylor, Ada Ruth Crunkleton, Imogene Huffman, and Glenda Nell Johnson.

Survivors include her two sons, Johnny Reynolds and wife Becky, Mark Reynolds and wife Rhonda all of Joplin; five grandchildren, Stephen Reynolds and wife Faith, Caleb Reynolds and wife Brooklynn, Ethan Reynolds, Elijah Reynolds, and Abigail Reynolds; three great-grandchildren, Grant Reynolds, Lane Reynolds, and Landon Reynolds; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at LifePoint Pentecostal Church with Rev. Robert Sill and Pastor Fred Oates officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

George Leaming

George Denton Leaming, of Beulaville, NC, departed this life on Friday, October 26, 2018, at the age of 73.

He was born on May 10, 1945 in Lockwood, MO to George M. and Dessie Elizabeth (Hayter) Leaming. George graduated from Lockwood High School, and the University of Missouri Rolla School of Mines with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, the Beirut Conflict, and also Desert Storm. George was a helicopter pilot retiring after 26 years on April 1, 1992 as a Colonel. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal w/1 star, Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation w/1 star, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/2 stars, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 stars, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Legion of Merit, and the Air Medal w/43 devices.

After retirement from the United States Marine Corps, he flew for Duke Life Flight in North Carolina for 15 years. He was united in marriage to Rachel Diane McQueen on September 16, 1990 in Richlands, NC. George was a member of the Lockwood Presbyterian Church, the Lockwood American Legion Post #372, and the Washington Lodge #87 A.F. & A.M.

Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Dessie Leaming; his wife, Cheryl Leaming; one son, Brett Leaming; and his sister, Carolyn Drury.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Leaming of the home; two sons, Chad Leaming and wife Caroline of Medford, MA and Jason Raynor of Beulaville, NC; one daughter, Celena Smith and husband Doug of Goldsboro, NC; seven grandchildren, Whitney Grantham, Hannah Lane and husband Travis, Landon Smith, Harley Raynor, Lila Raynor, Forest Leaming, and Graceson Leaming; one great-grandchild, Samuel Lane; two special grandchildren, Isabell Burke and Jason Burke; two nephews, Jeff Drury and Ray Drury; a very special cousin who George thought of as a son, Russ Leaming and wife Kellie; his Duke Life Flight Crew Family; and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Lockwood United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Dudenville Cemetery with full military honors and masonic last rites. The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church. Robert “Bob” Wayne Bronson, age 61, was born December 6, 1956 in Lamar, MO to Oscar Leroy Bronson II and Rose Marie (Valenti) Bronson. He passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018.

Bob married Susan Ann Searles April 2, 1976 in Iantha, MO. Together they raised four sons: Bobby, Dusty, Joey and Jason. Bob was employed at Lamar Fire Department for over 25 years. The children that would tour the firehouse knew him as “Fireman Bob”. Bob looked forward to “Wear Red Fridays” when he would meet with family and friends to drink coffee. 

 He is survived by his wife Susan, his mother, Rose, four sons: Bobby and his wife Kim, Dusty, Joey and Jason and his wife Katie, six grandchildren: Molly, Sophie, Memphis, Nash, Kadyn and Wyatt, two sisters; Anna Voorhees and Susan Ball, a brother; Oscar Bronson III, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his dad, two brothers; Richard and John, a sister; Linda Lair and a granddaughter; Ava Bronson October 13, 2017. 

There will be a memorial visitation from 1 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. Thursday November 1. A Graveside Service will follow at 3 P.M. at The Iantha Cemetery.

Barbara Brown

Barbara N. Brown, 81, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at her home in Carthage.

Barbara was born June 22, 1937 in Wichita Falls, TX to Clarence “Buddy” and Olive V. “King” McWhorter. Barbara was a resident of Carthage since 1959 and was very active in her community. She was a homemaker and an administrative assistant to her husband’s real estate agency. Barbara was a member and Sunday school teacher at Forest Park Baptist Church, along with assisting in their church bus ministry. She belonged to a local bridge club, bowling league and golf league. She was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels and at Precious Moments, along with other community activities. Barbara loved to paint and enjoyed many other arts and crafts.

Barbara was united in marriage to James “Mel” Brown on October 10, 1959 in Wichita Falls, TX; he preceded her in death on October 20, 2013.
Barbara is survived by her son Wes Brown and wife Guyla of Webb City and her daughter Rebecca Randles of Kansas City, as well as three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Fasken Cemetery, northeast of Carthage.

Naomi Joy Neal of Miami, OK passed away Sunday October 28, 2018 at Windridge Nursing and Rehab in Miami, OK. She as 82.

Naomi was born January 12, 1936 in Salem, OR to Gilbert and Doris (Counts) Starr. She graduated in 1953 from College Grove, OR High School. She had lived in Miami for 10 years moving here from Grove, OK. Prior to living in Grove she lived in Jane, MO.

Naomi worked for Daisy BB Gun in Rogers, AR over 30 years in Human Resources. She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Miami.

Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Neal on April 11, 1997, her parents, a brother, Tom Starr and 2 sisters, Sharon Warner and Debra Edminston.

Survivors include 1 brother, Jerry Starr of Junction City, OR and 3 sisters, Rhoda and husband Harvey Enerson of Grand Forks, ND, Candace Aho of Salem, OR and Sharla and husband Gerry Deadmond of Oakland, OR.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Pleasant View Cemetery, northwest of Baxter Springs, KS with Rod Neal and Bruce Neal officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 1: 30 p.m. prior to the graveside services at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Chase Kirschner

Chase L. Kirschner, 21, Neosho, entered into rest on October 27, 2018 at his home, following a lengthy illness. Chase was born April 23, 1997 in Joplin, Missouri and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Neosho High School in 2016 and worked in the electronic department at Wal-Mart. He loved his work and loved playing video games.

Chase is survived by his parents, Kody and Casey Kirschner of Neosho; one brother, Appy Mendoza of Neosho; one sister, Kenzee Kirschner of Neosho; maternal grandparents, Charles and Maymie Williams of Webb City and paternal grandparents, Gary and Michelle Foutch of Omaha, Nebraska.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at 5 pm at the Neosho United Methodist Church Christian Life Center, 1111 N. Business 49 @ Baxter, Neosho, Missouri.

Bobby Elhard

Bobby Lee Elhard, 72, Neosho, entered into rest on Oct. 28, 2018 at Joplin Health and Rehab, following an illness. Bobby was born June 28, 1946 in Montana, the son of Elmer W. and Margaret (Miller) Elhard. He served in the U.S. Navy and had worked for the City of Neosho and then at La-Z-Boy, retiring from La-Z-Boy. He was an avid country music fan and enjoyed old cars and tractors.

Bobby is survived by three nieces, Connie Sue Quinton and husband Robert of Grove, OK; Amy Necole Hoctor and husband, Steve and their children, Cameron Stotts and Knicklaus Hoctor and Shannon Dodson and husband, Cody of Neosho.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Elmer Walter Elhard, Jr. and one sister, Betty Jean Russell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 at 1 pm at St. Canera Catholic Church, Father Sampson Dorival will officiate. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery. Rosary services will be held on Thursday evening at 5 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories.

Ruth Dennis

Ruth Ann Dennis, Neosho, MO, passed away October 27, 2018 at the age of 68 years, ten months, and eleven days.

 She was born December 16, 1949 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Raymond and Goldie (Moseley) Casey. Ruth worked in food service for the local school district. She enjoyed her family and going to casinos.

Ruth married Jim Dennis; he preceded her in death in November 1997. She is survived by her children: Melissa Villegas and husband, Luis of Neosho, Bryan Long and wife, Bridget of Stark City, Glenn Faulkner of Jefferson City, Julie Gatschet and wife, Virginia of Webb City, and Angela Cawood of Pineville; brother, Mike Casey and wife, Robin of Neosho; sisters, Juanita Smith of Poplar Bluff, and Janet Green of Hardinsburg, KY; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one granddaughter.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Reed Harper

Reed O’Neil Harper, 64, entered into rest on October 27, 2018 at his Joplin home after a six year illness. He was born April 23, 1954 in Springfield, MO to Russell O’Neil and Marie (Meyer) Harper. He lived in the Springfield/Joplin areas most of his life. Reed retired as an engineer for ATT after 37 years of service. He was very mechanical and loved to fix things. He also enjoyed working on cars, going camping, and bicycling. He was a member of the Celebration Church in Joplin and had been a member of College Heights Christian Church for 30 years.

Reed married Sonja (Hoover) Harper on April 28, 1984 in Joplin, MO; she survives. Additional survivors are his son, Wade Harper and wife, Kelsey of Joplin; mother-in-law, Ila Jean Hoover of Joplin; brother, Gene Harper and wife, Nancy of Paulsbo, WA; brother-in-law, Les Hoover and wife, Sherry of Neosho; sisters, Lorri McKnight of Joplin, Jann Sanford of Greenville, SC, Karla Boissenet of Amarillo, TX, and LeAnn Harper of Rogersville, MO; nephews, Cash Hoover, Erik Boissenet, and Chuck Boissenet; nieces, Barbi Trevarrow, Kaiti Hoover, M.D., Rose Harper, Shannon Glyer, and Lyndsey Johnson; numerous great nieces and nephews; and his four-legged best friend, Yeti. Reed was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Mike Hoover; father-in-law, Doc Hoover; brother, Daniel Harper; and sister, Rhonda Harper.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Celebration Church, 1301 S. Duquesne Rd., Joplin, MO with Brandon Dorris officiating.

Virginia Rose Dougless, 61, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday evening, October 25, 2018, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. 

Rose Sloniker was born August 8, 1957 in Carthage, MO to Ted Sloniker and Virginia (Myers) Sloniker. She graduated from Sarcoxie High School, Class of 1975. 

Rose married Allen Dougless on February 14, 1980 in Carthage, MO; he survives. She was owner/operator of Clean and Fresh Cleaning services. Rose was a member of the First Christian Church, Carthage. Rose was very proud of starting and builder her cleaning service and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her parents, Ted and Virginia; her husband, Allen; two sons, Cody Dougless (Keri), Carthage, MO, and Brian Dougless (Sommer), Carl Junction, MO; one daughter, Stormy Darch (David), Neosho, Mo; two brothers, Richard Sloniker, and Teddy Sloniker; one sister, Ruth Jacks; and ten grandchildren.

Services are pending and will be announced by the Knell Mortuary.

Mike Newby

James “Mike” Newby, 51 years of Southwest City, Missouri departed this life suddenly Monday, October 22, 2018 from injuries sustained in a automobile accident.

Mike entered this life on December 21, 1966 in Oklahoma City, OK to James David and Caroline Sue (Brannon) Newby. He had lived in the Southwest City area for ten years. Mike was an ordained Baptist Minister and enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley Davidson.

Mike was preceded in death by his father David.

Mike is survived by his mother; Sue Newby, of Southwest City, MO, two sisters; Becky Thomas of Grove, OK and Kimberly Gordon of Yukon, OK, a brother David Newby of Edmond, OK, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date in the Newby Family Plot in Meeker Cemetery in Meeker, Oklahoma.

Kenneth Patrick

Mr. Kenneth Edwin Patrick, Sr., age 75, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at his home.

Kenneth was born July 15, 1943 in Log City, Missouri, to the union of the late Harvey and Gladys (Adams) Patrick. He moved around as a child and was mostly raised near the Carthage, Missouri, area. On December 10, 1962, Kenneth was united in marriage to Joyce Fisher and together they had twelve children. He worked as a driller for many years for the quarry in Carthage. Kenneth enjoyed being outdoors, cutting wood and listening to bluegrass music. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; and two children, Saundra and Gary; brothers, Glen Patrick, Raymond Patrick, Cecil Patrick and James Patrick; sisters, Jane Williams, Shirley and Virginia Maggard.

He is survived by ten children, Kenneth Patrick, Velma Patrick, Wayne Patrick, Agnes Stewart, Beverly Patrick, Lonnie Patrick, Christopher Patrick, Bradley Patrick, Donald Patrick and Ronald Patrick; 30 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Patrick, Tony Patrick and Oldis Patrick; sisters, Sherry Phillips and Velma Elimarsk; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Patty Beard

Patricia Eve “Patty” Beard, 83 of Joplin, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018. Patty was born in Joplin on April 26, 1935 to Edgar and Ethel Hughes. She graduated from Joplin High School and attended Junior College. On December 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Don Beard. Together they owned and operated Don’s Government Surplus, DL Beard Cattle and Sarcoxie Livestock. When Patty was not helping her husband with business operations, she enjoyed spending time with her family. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2006.

In addition to her husband and parents, Patty was preceded in death by two brothers and a daughter, Cathy Dooley. She is survived by her son, Jeff Beard and wife Karen of Midland, Texas; six grandchildren, Megan Beard- Schilder and her husband Bryan, Nick Beard and his wife Caity, all of Midland, Texas, Ryan McGeehee, Brittney McGeehee, Candace McCohhahey and her husband Cody and Patrick Jennings, all of Neosho, Missouri; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Mason-Woodard Chapel with Pastor Scott Pogue officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date at the Ozark Cemetery.

Jean Kaulbach

Dorothy Jean (Carlisle) (Smith) Kaulbach passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the age of 83 after a long battle with lung disease. Jean was a resident of Sarcoxie Nursing Center.

Jean was born in Mullin, Texas on February 8, 1935 to William Harvey Carlisle and Mattie Leora Parker. She was the oldest of eight children, one sister and six brothers.

 Jean grew up in the Rogers/Avoca area of Arkansas and married David L. Smith on July 27, 1951, and one daughter, Leanora Jean, was born in 1954. Jean was a licensed cosmetologist and had her own salon, Jean’s House of Beauty, in Diamond, Missouri for 18 years. Her husband, David, was killed in an auto accident after 36 years of marriage to Jean. Jean then moved to California to care for her father who was fighting cancer.

 In July 1987, she married Robert W. “Bob” Kaulbach and in 1989 they came back to Missouri to live. Jean and Bob had a very successful Collectible Cookie Jar business here in Joplin that they operated out of their home until her illness developed in 1996. They closed the business in 1998. Jean battled and survived breast cancer. Then in July 2017, Jean was once again widowed after Bob passed away from an aggressive cancer.

Her passion was her family, and she could hardly wait until the annual family reunion each year, so she could visit with more of the family. She will be missed by many, especially her family.

Jean is survived by her sister, Donna, and her husband, Tom, of Blue Springs; her brothers, Jerry and wife, Judy, of Washington, Larry and wife, Sharon, of Sarcoxie, Charles and wife, Patsy, of Joplin, Keith and wife, Eva, of Nevada and Peg, wife of James, of Joplin; grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Shane, of Oklahoma, and Joshua and wife, Michelle, of Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, David; brothers, William and James; daughter, Lea; and husband, Bob.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. A committal of ashes will be held at Diamond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.

David Brock

David G. Brock, 68, passed away October 26, 2018 at his Stark City home. David was born December 18, 1949 in Stella, MO to Nelson G. and Dorothy (Becknell) Brock. He was a hay farmer and greatly enjoyed the outdoors, farming, and trucking. His greatest joys came from his family gatherings and giving to people in need.

David and the former Vicki Pruitt were married August 23, 1969 in Fairview, MO; she survives of the home. Additional survivors are two children, Angela Contreras of Neosho, MO and Nathan Brock and wife, Michelle, of Moore, OK; brother, Tim Brock of Stark City; two sisters, Shirley Kelly of Seneca, MO and Cynthia Woodruff and husband, Darrell, of Joplin, MO; and seven grandchildren, Nolan, Alyssa, Jillian, Megan, Ashton, Anna, and Alyvia. David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael.

Services will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, October 30 at Clark Funeral Home, Granby Chapel in Granby, with Pastor Tony Intessimone officiating. The family will receive friends at the Granby Chapel on Monday, October 29 from 5 until 6 pm.

Richard Empey

Richard William Empey, age 77, Webb City, passed away Wednesday October 24, 2018 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin.

He was born May 23, 1941 in Rochester, NY to the late William Empey and Mildred Torrey Empey. Due to his parents passing at a very early age, he was raised by his Aunt Marie.

In addition to his parents, and aunt, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley McGarah and husband, David and Pat Houck and husband, Stan.

Richard served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from IBM as a computer programmer. Following retirement, he then built interiors on corporate jets for Bombardier Aerospace. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Carl Junction Ward.

He married Sharon Denosky on May 6, 1969 in Logan, UT. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Aaron Empey and wife, Patti, Tucson, AZ; two daughters, Hilary Cassatt and husband, Joey, Victoria Empey, both of Webb City; and three grandsons, Dean, Jesse, and Josh.

Graveside services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Yolanda Lorejas Gould, 70 of Oronogo, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at her home.

She was born September 13, 1948 in Cautod Sta. Margarita, Western Samar, Philippines. Yolanda was a homemaker and a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church of Carthage, Missouri.
Yolanda was united in marriage to Steven Gould on October 15, 1973, He survives. Other survivors include, One daughter, Maribel Lorejas Grubb and husband Jason. One brother, Junior Lorejas. Two sisters, Ondit Benedieto and, Beatrice Fetalvero. One grandson, Liam Steven Grubb. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three half sisters. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M.. at Crossroads Baptist Church, Carthage, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 29, 2018 at Crossroads Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Jasper, Missouri.

Bill Hill

William (Bill) Hill, age 76, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his home after a battle with cancer.

Bill was born July 26, 1942 at Morenci, Arizona to Elwood and Myrtle Hill. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1961, and on September 19, 1965, he married Janice Rae Clements. Together they raised their three children. He worked for King Press as a machinist for 37 years. After the closing of King Press, he worked for Talbot Industries until he retired in 2007.

William leaves behind his wife of 53 years; Janice Hill; 2 sons, Mike Hill and wife Michelle of Watauga, Texas; William (Bill) Hill of Joplin; and Debbi Thomas of Webb City; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Michael, Steven, Christy, Nathan, Samantha, and Christopher Ryan; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Theresa Williams of Joplin; Joyce VanHoose and husband Scott of Carthage, Missouri; and 1 brother, Dan Hill and wife Lois also of Carthage.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Elwood and Myrtle Hill.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with visitation following the service.

Maril Thompson

Maril Linda Thompson, age 84, Joplin, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Joplin Gardens.

She was born September 24, 1937 in Smith County, KS, to the late Virgil Hayes and Emma Scheon Hays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Delwin and Kyle Hays; and one son, Kenneth Thompson.

Maril was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She served in various positions, including making Christmas and Thanksgiving baskets, making sure there was plenty of food for funeral dinners and the church wedding coordinator. She was an instrumental part of starting the church youth group.

She married Carl Thompson on February 15, 1964 in Harveyville, KS. He survives at the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Michael Thompson and wife, Laura, Joplin; one daughter, Linda Ashworth, Joplin; three grandsons, Ian Thompson, Nicholas Thompson, and Graham Thompson and wife, Jennifer, all of Joplin; one granddaughter, Elise Ashworth, Joplin; two great grandsons, Jackson and Jamison Ashworth; and one sister, Alice Hoag, Fargo, ND.

Funeral services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Pastor Aaron Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time, with burial following at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bonnie Berry

Bonnie K. Berry, age 94, Lockwood, passed away at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Carthage, after an illness.

Bonnie was born June 4, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Conna Moreland and Dorcas Wise Moreland and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.

She owned and operated LaBonnie's Beauty Salon in Joplin for forty seven years. She was a faithful member of Park Plaza Christian Church and will be missed by all who knew her.

Family graveside services are being planned at Fairview Friends Cemetery, Alba, Missouri.

Glen Means

Mr. Glen William Means, 73, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, after a brief battle with Leukemia.

Glen entered this life on May 2, 1945, in Joplin, Missouri, one of five children born to the late Henry and Ester (Machlin) Means. He was raised in the Lakeside Community and was a 1963 graduate of Webb City High School, furthering his education at Joplin Junior College.

On June 28, 1965, in Webb City, Missouri he was united in marriage to Gloria Sue Studivan and to this union a son and daughter were born. They resided in Kansas City for thirteen years before returning home in 1978. For over twenty-five years he was employed by Eagle Picher in Joplin, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed old cars, staying active, was an excellent handyman and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Glen was of the Baptist faith.

Glen is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Gloria Sue Means of the home; two children, Bryan Means and wife, Susan, of Neosho, Missouri and Stephanie Cowan and husband, Kyle, of Carl Junction, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Josiah, Joshua, Jessica, kylie, Carson, Eric and Addisen; four great grandchildren, Carson, Bryan, Carter and Easton; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Barbara Marney

Barbara D. Marney was born February 11, 1983 in Petersburg, Virginia and entered into rest on October 24, 2018 in Neosho, Missouri at the age of 35. Barbara lived most of her adult life in the SW Missouri area. She had worked at Jarden as a material handler and was a homemaker. She enjoyed being a ‘Mom’ and she enjoyed learning.

Barbara married Adam Marney on July 5, 2016 in Joplin and he survives.

Additional survivors include four children, Makayla Brewer, Dylan Brewer, Paisley Marney and Draygon Marney; her father and stepmother, Alan Shane and Lori Everett of Phoenix, Arizona; her mother, Alana Webb of California; two sisters, T. J. Everett of Phoenix, Arizona and Linda Dockery of Tennessee; step sister, Shelby Birely; paternal grandmother, Barbara Pennal and maternal grandfather, James Sawyer.

Graveside services will be Monday, October 29, 2018 at 1 pm at the Oakwood Cemetery, south of Neosho.

Julia Nicholas

Julia Ann Nicholas, 83, of Pittsburg, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Via Christi Village.

She was born September 2, 1935, the daughter of Henry R. and Dorothy Lucille (Renn) Wettstein. As a young girl, she moved to California with her family, where she resided until moving back to Pittsburg in 1969.

While living in California, she worked as a hairdresser for several years. After moving back to Pittsburg, she worked at the VFW, then McNally’s Manufacturing, where she was President of the Union, and was responsible for negotiations. After the closing of McNally’s, she went back to school and earned an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing from Labette Community College. She enjoyed working at Osawatomie State Hospital as a Registered Nurse, specializing Psych, then became a traveling nurse working in Kansas, Tennessee, and Texas.

Ms. Nicholas was of Catholic faith.

Survivors include, a brother, John A. Wettstein and his wife, Fern of Joplin, Missouri; a sister, Patricia Badnin of Lake Oswego, Oregon; and three nieces, Pam Levi, Trudy Peterson, and Susan Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 5, at the Via Christi Village Chapel, 1502 E. Centennial Dr., Pittsburg, with Chaplain Adah Hutchcraft officiating. Friends may call at the Brenner Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday to sign the register. The family suggests memorials be given to the Via Christi Village Activity Fund. Brenda Lane

Brenda Marie Lane entered into rest at her Joplin residence on October 24, 2018 at the age of 56 years, 7 months, and 26 days.

 Brenda was born February 28, 1962 in Monett, Missouri to Kenneth D. and Mary E. (White) Channel. She worked as a cook for area assisted living centers and hospitals.

Brenda is survived by her mother, Mary “Sis” Channel of Granby, MO; three children, Samuel Leon Lane, Megan A. Lane, and Michael R. Lane; two brothers, Jim Channel and Jake Channel; one sister, Mary Frerer; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Ken; daughter, Elizabeth Lane; brother Tom Channel; and former husband, Mike Lane.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Charles Conrow

Charles Curtis Conrow, age 86, of Joplin, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his residence.

Charles was born on March 9, 1932 in Duenweg, Missouri, son of the late William Conrow and Lola (Griffis) Conrow. Charles married Rosalie Herron on June 3, 1956 in Miami, Oklahoma.

Charles was a fifty-year member of Joplin Lodge # 335, AF and AM; the Joplin Shrine Club and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple of Springfield. He was also a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling and watching Nascar.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy R. Conrow and Roy (Pete) Conrow; and two sisters, Betty J. (Tootsie) King and Eula Mae Hulsey.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie of the home; daughter, Wendy Dawn Conrow of Nixa, Missouri; brother, John H. Conrow of Joplin; sister, Emma Lou Poe of Joplin; grandson, Brady Layne Wells of Nixa; and granddaughter, Payton Elizabeth Wells of Nixa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Private family services are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Betty Brown

Betty Lou Brown of Neosho, Missouri passed away October 24, 2018 at the age of 83 years.

 Betty was born in Mansfield, Missouri on October 7, 1935 to Fred and Belva Turner. She was a homemaker who was known as an excellent cook. She enjoyed crafting and loved to decorate cakes. Betty loved her children and grandchildren, and was loved by all who knew her. She attended Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Neosho.

Betty is survived by one son, Tom Call and wife, Lori of Washington State; four daughters, Elaine King and husband, Chuck of Granby, MO, Bessie Seay of Neosho, Becky Penrod and husband, Carl of Strafford, MO, and Betty Darlene Green and husband, Kevin of Neosho; 26 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, David Call, Jamie Call and one infant son and five grandchildren, Billy Wayne, Emily, Bryan, Clarrissa, and Ryder.

The family will plan a private memorial service for Betty at a later date.

Rebekah "Becky" Ann Backs, age 70, of Lamar, Missouri passed away October 22, 2018 in Lamar, Missouri.

Becky was born June 2, 1948 in Lockwood, Missouri to Theodore “Murphy” Backs and Grace (Gilmore) Backs. Becky graduated Lockwood High School in the class of 1966. Becky married Alan Maberry, and together, they had three sons and later divorced after 43 years of marriage.

Becky was the Owner and Operator of Denim and Lace for over 30 years and, most recently, was a Home Health Aide with Oxford HealthCare. She was a member of Milford Christian Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Becky was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother, Ted Backs. She leaves behind three sons, Shawn and his wife, Leslie Maberry, Nathan and his wife, Beckie Maberry, and Jordan and his wife, Elie Maberry, all of Lamar, Missouri; two sisters, Peggy and husband, Richard "Dick" Roberts, Spring Hill, Tennessee and Cathy Backs, Lockwood, Missouri; a sister-in-law Sandy Backs, Lenexa, Kansas; six grandchildren, Lauren, Landon, Addison, Dylan, Grace, and Remington; and one great-grandson, Rigdon, all of Lamar, Missouri.

Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, October 26, 2018 at Daniel Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home.

Joye Parker

Joye D. Parker age 76 of Joplin, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

 He was born on May 22, 1942 in Berryville, Arkansas to Amos Parker and Ruth (Burnett) Parker. He was a supervisor for a door lock manufacturing company for many years. 

 Joye was preceded in death by his wife Mary Parker. He is survived by his daughters, Pennie Thompson and her husband Rodney of Webb City, Vickie Brown of Virginia, Wanda Corrlas of Wisconsin; stepson, Doug Mitchell and wife Kay of Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Margie Esteb of Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 4 step great grandchildren. 

 Joye has been taken for cremation and the family will have a graveside memorial service on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Carterville Cemetery with Pastor Waylon “Bub” Miller officiating.

Nadine Bennett

Nadine Ellen Dunn Burkhart Bennett, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:40 p.m. after a short time at Joplin Gardens battling cancer.

Nadine was born January 27, 1932 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, daughter of the late Dewey Fox and Mable Whiteside Fox. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put others ahead of herself. As a young woman she worked as an independent contractor, working as a housekeeper for several people in the Joplin area, and with the Olivia Apartment Complex. She was a member of the Church of God (Holiness), the VFW Auxiliary, and the Joplin Blind Association. She loved her grandchildren, and they had many loving memories of their grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Winifred Burkhart, sons, Fred Dunn in 2016, and Raymond Dunn in 2017; sister, Mary Steckstor.

Nadine is survived by her husband, Amos "Sonny" Edward Bennett, whom she married June 5, 1999; son, Arthur Dunn of Joplin; daughter, Linda J. Tilton and husband Donnie of Oronogo, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie May Watson of Joplin; brothers, Frank Fox of El Dorado Springs, and Forrest Fox of Melrose, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Rex Scoles officiating. Interment will follow in Burkhart Cemetery, Racine, Missouri, with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Nadine always enjoyed getting together for food and fellowship with her friends and family. Immediately after the graveside service, the family will be holding a gathering for her friends and family in her memory at Webb City Senior Citizens, 210 N. Pennsylvania, Webb City, for food and fellowship.

Robert Rich

Robert M. Rich, age 87 of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Freeman Hospital following an illness.

Robert was born on October 2, 1931 in Clarksville, Tn. Robert served his country as part of the U.S. Army, following his service, Robert moved to the area from Westminster, Ca. in 1969. He worked for Stanley & Rusk Plumbing for many years before retiring in 1988. He was a lifetime member of the Local 178 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

He married Martha Sue Ledbetter in 1951, they divorced in 1978, she preceded him in death in 1990. Robert then married Marie Gregory Bell on July 16, 1985, she survives. Additional survivors include one son, Mark Rich of Grove, Ok.; two step-sons, Duane Bell of Bull Shoals, Ar., Jamie Bell of Joplin; one step-daughter, Patty Tate of Bull Shoals, Ar.; one sister, Bessie Lou Parker of Clarksville, Tn.; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Mike Rich.

A memorial service has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 5 – 6 p.m. Monday.

Lysle Graham

Lysle Edwin Graham, age 72, of Long Beach, passed away on October 23, 2018.

Lysle served in the U.S. Army National Guard 6 years.

He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Masters in Finance and was employed as Finance Manager for Beech Ford, Mendenhall, MS, and served as Chief of Human Resources for U.S Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, SUP-Ship, Pascagoula, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After 32 years of Civil Service, he was a Human Resources Consultant for the U.S. Marines in New Orleans, LA.

He served as Vice President of the Carnival Association of Long Beach and was instrumental in promoting, organizing and coaching girls and boys youth Soccer, Tee Ball, and Little League Baseball. His teams won many championships throughout Lysle's coaching years. Besides coaching, Lysle loved to fish for crappie and bass on Sugar Creek, in Pineville, Missouri and he hunted for deer in north Mississippi at his camp in Electric Mills.

Lysle loved to entertain and his sense of humor was overwhelming at times. He always had a place set for his delicious steaks, chicken, turkey and venision for anyone.

Lysle's love was expressed through his actions of love HIS WAY. If it was wrapping a gift, giving advice or proving his opinion, you knew he was looking out for your best interest and sharing his lifelong experiences with love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia Graham.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Graham; his children, Kevin L. Graham and Kelly Graham Wawrek (Jon); mother of his children, Kathleen Truax Graham; his siblings, Lynn Bowman Graham (Barbara), Carl Leslie Graham (Debbie), and Clark Lee Graham; a step-son, Adam Nolan Dickerson a step-daughter, Tessa A. Dickerson; 6 grandchildren, Madison Wawrek, Aubrey Wawrek, Gracelyn Graham, James Anthony Dickerson, Alexandria Hasley, and Hannah Nicole Dickerson; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 25, 2018, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, October 26, 2018 at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Granby, MO.
