Dale Reber

Mr. Jimmie "Dale" Reber, 68, of Wentworth, MO passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, after recently being diagnosed with cancer.

Dale entered this life on January 3, 1950 in Granby, MO to the union of the late James and Emma Elizabeth (Harris) Reber. He grew up in Diamond, MO and was a proud graduate of Diamond High School.

He was united in marriage to Judy Owens on October 12, 1974, together they shared forty-four years. For more than thirty two years he was employed with Meeks Wholesale Supply in Lockwood, MO as a salesman. In 1989 he was awarded Meeks Manager of the year at the Greenfield location. Dale was a very hard worker and dedicated employee. Dale was very proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, as well as being an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was also a huge supporter of Pierce City Eagles. He loved going to church and attended New Site Baptist Church in Monett. For more than twenty eight years he was a football referee for the Missouri State High School Activities Association. In 2003 Dale received the Adult Lifesaver Hero Everyday Hero Award from the American Red Cross for his aid in a neighbor’s house fire.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Joe and Pauline Owens; and sister-in-law, Joye Owens.

Dale is survived by his wife Judy, of the home; sons, Jim Reber (Heither) of Sarcoxie, and Joe Reber (Alyssa) of Wentworth; six grandchildren, Becky, Karleigh, Braidan, Brantley, Emmerson and Maverick, and a grandson that will be born in February; brother, Claude Reber and sister, Linda Reber, both of Granby; sister-in-law’s, Jayne Mahan (Mike) of Marionville, and Janae Wittenmeyer (Tony) of Seneca and brother-in-law, Jeff Owens (Crystal) of Carthage; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Dale are 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at New Site Baptist Church in Monett, MO with Pastor Aaron Weibel officiating. Interment will follow in VanBuren Union Cemetery, Wentworth. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the church. Those honoring his life as pallbearers are Jim Reber, Joe Reber, Chris Prater, Alex Hagen, Zach Zullig and Don Earl. Honorary pallbearers are Braidan Reber, Ryan Couts, Jerry Dierker, Ben Skelton, Bill Blinzler and Steve Gripka. The family has directed memorial contributions to New Site Baptist Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
