Herminio Lopez

Herminio Lopez Gomez, 65, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Joplin, Missouri. Herminio was born August 13, 1956 in Guatemala, Quetzaltenango, Coatepeque to Irene Gomez Lopez and Ezequiel Lopez Ramos. He was a longtime resident of Neosho, Missouri.

Herminio is survived by his three sons and their spouses; and four daughters and their spouses.








Herminio is preceded in death by his parents, Irene Gomez Lopez and Ezequiel Lopez Ramos; and maternal grandmother Fracisca Lopez.

Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Saint Canera Catholic Church, Neosho, Missouri.

Clara Lopez Hernandez, 44, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 in Chesterfield, Missouri. Clara was born August 11, 1977 in Guatemala, Coatepeque to Bernardino Lopez Chavez and Elena Hernandez Tevalan. She was a longtime resident of Carthage, Missouri. She was a homemaker and loved her family very much.

Clara and her long time partner, Freddy DeLeon were together for 19 years. He survives her.









Clara is survived by her longtime boyfriend, Freddy DeLeon, Carthage, Missouri; Her children, Kenia Macias and husband Gavino, Jason Lopez, Tracey DeLeon, Freida DeLeon, Chelsea DeLeon, and Anayensi DeLeon, all of Carthage, Missouri; one brother, Artermio Lopez Hernandez, Carthage, Missouri; and three sisters, Rosemery Lopez Hernandez, Floricelda Lopez Hernandez, and Maria Nicolasa Lopez Hernandez, all of Carthage, Missouri.

Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Bernardino Lopez Chavez and Elena Hernandez Tevalan.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, Missouri. There will also be a visitation held from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2021 at Saint Ann’s Gymnasium, Carthage, Missouri. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.

Daniel Weinstein

Daniel L Weinstein, age 42, of Golden City, Missouri passed away September 27, 2021, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Daniel was born June 7, 1979 in Joplin, Missouri to Cecil Ray Weinstein and Deborah Fern (McDonald) Weinstein. Daniel graduated from Golden City High School in the class of 1998. On February 28, 2009, Daniel married Sally Gooden Coy in Lamar, Missouri.









Daniel was a lifetime resident of Golden City, Missouri and worked as a welder at Thorco for 11 years, and most recently worked for Lamar East Primary for 9 years as a custodian. Daniel was a member of the Grace Pentecostal Church in Golden City, Missouri. Daniel loved going on missionary trips and horseback riding. He loved gospel bluegrass and old time gospel and loved working on instruments especially the fiddle and the mandolin, he especially loved teaching his children music and talking to everyone he met about the Lord.

Survivors include his wife Sally, a son; Jimmy Weinstein, two daughters; Katherine Weinstein and Annie Weinstein, his parents, Cecil and Allison Weinstein of Lamar, MO, one sister; Carla (Jared) Owen of Strafford, Missouri, two step-sisters; Abbigail Borghardt of Lamar, MO, and Elizabeth (Kyle) Berry of Springfield, MO along with one step-brother; Christopher Borghardt of Lamar, MO along with many aunts, uncles neices and nephews.

Preceding Daniel in death were his mother, Deborah and his grandparents; Carl and Kay McDonald and Lester and Leona Weinstein.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Morehead Cemetery in Lamar, MO.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, October 1, 2021 at the funeral home.

Ethel Bliss

Ethel L. Bliss, 79, Goodman, MO, passed away September 30, 2021 at her daughters home in Goodman after an illness.

Ethel Lola Pope was born May 19, 1942 in Pitcher, OK, the daughter of William I. and Dolly Marie (Harris) Pope. She was a homemaker after her retirement from Ramble Inn Motel. 

Ethel L. Pope married John Lundblade June3, 1969 in Syracuse, KS and he preceded her in death June 25, 1987. She then married Ronald Bliss December 22, 1989 in Liberal, KS and he preceded her in death January 28, 2020. Edith was of the Christian Faith.








Survivors include her children, Corinna Edwards, Goodman, MO, Virginia Murphy, Baxtersprings, KS, Vernon Lundblade, Syracuse, KS, Wayne Lundblade, Syracuse, KS, John Lundblade and wife Peggy, Sublette, KS; sisters, Eletha Swisher, Baxter Springs, KS and Norma Harmon, Garden City, KS; 20 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Ethel was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Lola Beardsley, Debra Hassler, two brothers, Calvin Pope and Darrell Pope; three sisters, Dorthy Huff, Janie Grigsby and Betty Dean; one grandchild Gage Lundblade.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Memorial Service, 1:00pm, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Wesleyan Church in Syracuse, KS with Ray Frank officiating.

The body has been taken for cremation under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO.

Randy Cunningham

Randy Vern Cunningham, age 65, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Mercy of Joplin.

Randy was born July 14, 1956 in Joplin, son of the late Vernie Franklin Cunningham and Martha Vern (Bloomfield) Cunningham. He grew up in Joplin where he attended Lincoln High School. He was a lifelong resident of Joplin who was known by many and was also a friend to many. Randy worked for years at Joplin Sheltered Workshop. He was attending People Home Mission Church of Joplin.








In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by three sisters, Charlotte Pliler, Norma Cunningham, and Anita Bishop.

Survivors include his brother, Mike Cunningham, and a sister, Nancy Rickey both of Joplin.

Memorial services will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at People Home Mission Church with Rev. Emul DeGonia officiating.

Kathy Williams

Kathryn Ruth Colquillette Williams, age 67, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at National Health Care in Joplin.

Kathy was born April 1, 1954 in Arlington, Texas daughter of the late Lee and Bonnie (Galbraith) Coquillette. She lived in the Reddings Mill area of Joplin, where she attended Spring City Baptist Church, and was a graduate of Joplin High School. She worked for years with Travel Planners of Joplin as a travel planner specialist.






 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Coquillette.

Survivors include her son, Aaron Hymer and his wife, Emily, of Asbury; her daughter, Kacey Hymer, of Joplin; grandchildren, Michael Hymer, and his wife, Hannah, Kalee Davis, and Dalton Ritchie; and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Maggie Paul

Macfleen “Maggie” Paul, 37, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 surrounded by family.

Maggie was born November 26, 1983, in Kitti, Pohnpei to Peteriko Route and Maria Neth. She attended Seinwar Elementary School and Marinas High School. She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted mother to her three children.

Maggie had a heart of gold. She was kind and welcoming to everyone she met. She loved “Coke and Crunch Bars”. But above everything family was her world. Maggie cherished the time spent and memories created with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.








Maggie is lovingly survived by her long-time partner, Leison Souleian; children, McFerson, Souelian, Maverickson Souelian, and Meleilony Souelian; siblings, Jayleen Paul-Clemons, Jaymor Paul, Lelesem Paul, and Esther Paul Aydelotte; mother, Maria Neth; father, Peteriko Route; together with a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Howard Cemetery, Goodman, Missouri with pastor Tonis Mathews. Leison Souelian, Jaymor Paul, Maxson Ioanis, Macferson Souelian, Maverickson Ioanis, Jaynas Ifamilik and Dino Ifamilik will serve as pallbearers.

Patricia May Purinton, age 67, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at her home.

Patricia was born April 3, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Harold Trussell and Ollie (Reiber) Kramer. 

Patricia joined Gary Purinton in marriage in Kansas City, MO. 










She worked as a laundromat attendant for most of her life. She enjoyed working around the house and planting flowers. She was a homebody and loved playing games on her tablet, watching The Voice and cooking shows. Sunday’s, you would find her watching her favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Patricia loved her children and was the greatest mom. She was an amazing cook and it wasn’t unheard of to have the whole family over for her famous fried chicken. To the grandchildren, she was memaw.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Gary Purinton in May of 1992; step-mom, Esther Trussell; step-dad, Bruce Kramer; siblings, Mary Jane Mays, Charolette Hoover, Jeff Trussell, Dana Cox, and Carol Adams.

Survivors include her four children, Lisa Trussell of Joplin, Lori Etcheson and husband, Nickolous of Joplin, Jesse Sprinkle of Joplin, James Sprinkle of Joplin; one half-daughter, Tina Knight of Kansas City, MO; four siblings, Jake Trussell, Dale Trussell, Susan Trussell, and Letha Nelson; several nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren, Dayton, DaKoda, DaLisa, Breah, Brylynn, Brently, Brecken, Bailey, Larynn, Briar, Beatrix; one great-grandchild, Davina.

Faye Burton

Faye Juanita Hill-Burton, age 101, of Duenweg, Missouri passed away Sunday September 26, 2021, at her home following a sudden illness.

She was born November 2, 1919, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Byron and Ida (Coons) Smith.

Faye was a 80+ year resident of Duenweg and was a member of the Assembly of God Church for almost 80 years. She loved making quilts and working in her yard.








She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son, two brothers, two sisters, and a grandson.

Faye is survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and three great-great-great grandchildren.

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers will be, Jacob Burton, Chase Burton, Matt Burton, Frank Burton, Chris Garrison, and Austin Garrison.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday October 4, 2021, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with Alan McCamey officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at the mortuary.

Melvin Moss

Melvin L. Moss, 79, of rural Monett, MO, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Melvin was born on May 10, 1942 in Carthage, MO, son of the late Oren and Irene (Lynn) Moss. Melvin graduated from Purdy High School with the class of 1961. 










At the age of 12, Melvin began working at his father’s grocery store, Moss Market. During his fifty years in the business, Melvin also worked at Food Town and Econo Foods, eventually retiring from Moss Market. Melvin was a loving Christian man, holding his family closest to his heart.

Melvin is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Betty Moss, of the home; one son, Randy Moss and wife Glenda, of Bella Vista, AR; four daughters, Rocksannia Alvarado and husband David, of Joplin, Liz Stewart and husband Kevn, of Monett, Becky Brown, of Monett and Sarah Carr and husband Greg, of Springfield, MO; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; as well as a loving host of extended family and friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Russell Moss.

Funeral services for Melvin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Home. David Keeling will be officiating. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Joyce Barton of Noel, MO passed from this life Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was 62.

Joyce was born June 20, 1959 in Miami, OK to Sidney and Louise (Turner) Mathews. She had lived in Noel for the past 12 years moving from the Treece, KS. She had worked at Simmons Chicken Plant in Noel, MO.








Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Claude Barton September 26, 2021, her father Sidney Mathews and step father Leroy Johnston and her brother Mitchell Mathews.
Survivors include her son Chad Barton of Noel, MO, her mother Louise Baird of Baxter Springs, KS, 5 brothers Bus Mathews of Bentonville, AR, Joe Mathews of Columbus, KS, Rick Mathews of Springfield, MO, Denny Johnston of Baxter Springs, KS and Robert Johnston of Colorado, 1 sister Donna Lamb of Galena, KS, 3 grandchildren Brianda Sanchez, Selena Barton and Jolissa Barton and 4 great grandchildren Juanito Sanchez, Giovanni Sanchez, Ariana Sanchez and Dysel Myers.

Kathryn “Kathy” K. Bettes, 72, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Freeman Hospital Joplin.

Kathy was born July 29, 1949 in Joplin, Missouri and adopted by the late James L. and Letha A. (Skelly) Morgan. Kathy was a lifelong resident of Joplin. 








She graduated from Joplin High School in 1967 before attending Draughon Business College to study accounting. Kathy worked many years as a bookkeeper for various businesses

Kathy was an active member of Community Fellowship Church in Carterville, Missouri. She loved all animals especially her fur babies, and enjoyed her travels across the country. Kathy cherished the memories created with her family and friends. Kathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Graveside services will be held Monday, October 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Dan King officiating.

Peggy Mehls

Peggy Ann Zieske Mehls, age 65 of Joplin, MO. passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Freeman West following an illness.

Peggy was born on December 24, 1955, in Scobey, MT the daughter of Clarence and Arlys (Enochson) Zieske. She has been a long-time area resident, where she worked as a Care Taker for many years before her health forced her to retire. Peggy was known for her kindness and caring nature and most of all that she loved to have a good time.








She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Shane Mehls, a brother, David Zieske, and a sister, Faith Fladager.

Peggy is survived by her son; Daniel Mehls of Joplin, two sisters; Kristi Pendergrass of Princeton, TX., Connie Lemieux of Kalmath Falls, OR., two brothers; Keith Zieske of Bellgrade, MT. and Butch Zieske of Richie, MT., and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends during a memorial visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel.

Sheldon Easson

Sheldon Andrew Easson, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Monday, September 27, 2021, in the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility at the age of 92.

He was born on April 26, 1929 in Red Oak, MO to Clair Davidson and Lena Mamie (Davis) Easson. Sheldon served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

He was united in marriage to Nora Ruth Schilling on October 9, 1949 at the Zion Lutheran Church. 








Sheldon owned and operated Easson’s Sales and Service in Lockwood for many years. He also worked at and retired from United States Postal Service. Sheldon was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a Past Commander of the Lockwood American Legion Post #372. Sheldon was an active member of the community. He enjoyed Model-T tours as a member of the area Model-T Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clair and Lena Easson; his wife, Nora Ruth Easson; and two sisters, Annis Gillock Hixon and Kathryn Langston.

Survivors include three sons, Sheldon A. Easson Jr. and wife Judy, Gregory L. Easson and wife Darlene, and Edward H. Easson and wife Beth; one sister, Ruth Neill and husband John; nine grandchildren, Brandon Easson, Jordan Easson and wife Elena, Jacob Easson and wife Kari, Cole Easson and wife Julia, Lee Easson, Carina Hatcher and husband Zack, Kate Rowan and husband Kyle, Garrett Easson, and Wyatt Easson and fiancé Kenzie; three great-grandchildren, Henry Easson, Blair Easson, and Zoe Easson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021, in Lockwood Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to view and pay their respects at their convenience on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Justin Reese

Justin Reese passed away on Saturday September 25, 2021. He was born in 1942, in Shannon County to Cloyd and Lucille (Langdon) Reese. He graduated from Mountain View High School. 

He joined the Army and was stationed in Washington State for the next three years. After the military, he worked for Yellow Freight as a diesel mechanic in Independence, MO for several years before moving to Mountain Home where he opened a diesel mechanic shop. 








He is survived by his sister, Linda Silver of Lamar, MO and several nieces and nephews. 

Justin is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Marjorie Reese, brother Jack Reese, and niece Janice Frizel. 

The family will schedule a memorial service at a later date and will update service information once available.

Thad Yount

Thad Denton Yount passed away on Thursday September 23, 2021. TD was born on November 30, 1932, near Verdella, MO to Jaxie and Linnie (Lively) Yount. 

He married Lou Shields and they remained married until 1998 when she passed away. 










In May of 2001 he married Patsy Jones. TD was a member of the Hermon Lodge Number 187, A.F. and A. M.; Eastern Star Chapter 456 of Jerico Springs, MO; Shriner of the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, KS; and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Valley of Joplin Orient of MO since 1976. 

He will be remembered for driving the little big wheels in the Shriner’s parade and the annual fundraiser selling Vidalia onions. He was a farmer and enjoyed everything farming especially his cows. 

He worked for several years as a road maintainer for Barton City and his family says that he drove his wheelchair like his grader, ignoring all obstacles in his path. He also worked at 3M in Nevada, MO for over 20 years and retired from there. TD enjoyed being outside, liked mowing his yard, and had a specific way that it needed to be done. He also liked to putter in the garage and built ironing board chairs and other items from wood. TD enjoyed visiting and talking and will be missed by many family members and friends. 

He is survived by his wife; sons, Rick Yount, Randy Yount, Tim Yount, and Mark Johnson; daughters, Diana Hines, and Brenda Bartlett; son in law Glen Christy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Pammy Johnson, Trisha Taylor, Blair Johnson, Korey Yount, Eric Yount, Nico Yount, Cooter Yount, Trinnade Hughes, Tiberly Crockett; and great-grandchildren, Dakota Lindsteadt, Colton Lindsteadt, Maddie Lindsteadt, Maci Yount, Hunter Yount, Trevor Yount, Carter Yount, Cody Hughes, Chad Yount, and Cole Yount. 

TD is preceded in death by his first wife Louetta Yount and daughter Debbie Johnson. A graveside service will be held on Monday September 27, 2021 at 10 A.M. at Barton City Cemetery. 

The family suggest donations in lieu of flowers be made to Shriners of the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, KS. The funeral home will be open for viewing and to sign the book on Sunday September 26, 2021 from 1 P.M. to 6 P.M.

Keaira Meadows

Keaira Monae Meadows, age 23, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, in Springfield, MO, where she resided the past year and a half. 

She was a beautiful, loving, caring, always smiling young lady who left this world too soon. She graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 2016. She was active in volleyball, basketball, softball, track, and was a member of the dance team. She was also a member of the FSCC dance team for 1 year. Keaira LOVED to dance! She participated on a traveling softball team during the summer which she absolutely loved doing. 








To her family, she was Keke, but to her friends, she was Kewe, like the fruit. She got this name from her friends who were playing a game where you had to think of a fruit that began with the first letter of your first name. Kiwi was mentioned and that name stuck forever. She loved turtles, cheetah print and the color lime green. Her dogs were her pride and joy. Winston “Winnie” and Raji Bear were her babies that will never be separated.

She enjoyed her jobs at G & W Foods in Fort Scott, KS, and Food 4 Less in Joplin, MO, where she made many friends and enjoyed the customers. 

Keaira was currently employed at a Medical Dispensary in Springfield, MO. She was born October 27, 1997, in Nevada, MO, to Kenny Meadows and Tonya Morton.

Keaira is survived by her mother, Tonya Morton and special friend David Brown and her father Kenny (Ariane) Meadows; five brothers, Phillip Smith, Kenny Jr. (Porcha), Kenan, Caleb, and Chance Meadows; maternal grandmother, Katheryn Kelley; paternal grandparents Russell Sr. and Juanita Green; nieces Jade Smith, and Nycari Meadows; nephews Anthony and Xavier Smith, and Kenny Meadows III; aunts and uncles Latisha (Michael) Cook, Benjamin (Kristi) Kelley, Anthony (Jennifer) Kelly, Ramone (Audrey) Green, and Russell Green Jr.; cousins Rayven Fisher, Jalen, Kaden, and Jeradan Kelley, Darian (Kelly), Danica, Daityn, and Delaine Kelly, Ramone Jr., Rashad, Riley, Renee, Amyah, Makayla, Maleah, MaKenna, Russell III, Ryder, Rasean, and Ramello Green.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 2nd, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel.

James Eldon “Jim” Hoover, 60, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away September 20, 2021, at his home. He was born October 19, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Eldon Lee and Forestine Rosetta (Miller) Hoover.

Jim served in the US Army and was a Respiratory Therapist. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and friends. He also loved riding his Victory motorcycle.








Over the years he had special ladies in his life. One of them was Connie Simons. They were married in 1977 and later divorced in 2002. Then he married Jennifer Durbin in May of 2008 and later separated. And finally, there is Kim Shember, who has been with him for the last four years.

Jim is survived by his children, Jeremy Hoover and wife Teia, Fort Scott, John Hoover, and Erica Hoover, both of Miami, Oklahoma; four sisters, Denise Imel (Chuck) of Tampa, Florida, Teresa Maki of Alma, Missouri, Linda Prior (Ian) of Tampa, Florida, and Sandra Fagan (Ed) of Honolulu, Hawaii; thirteen grandchildren, Justin, McKienze, Caleb, Samuel, Gavin, Maddy, James, Garent, Jamie, Blake, Donald, Jordan, and Brantly; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Forestine Hoover; a sister, Cheryl Ann Hoover; a brother-in-law, John Maki; a son, Gabe Hoover, and a grandson, Canaan Hoover.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Fort Scott National Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Jason Goade, 49, passed away unexpectedly in his home, in Carthage, Missouri, on September 25, 2021. Jason was born in Joplin, Missouri on November 12, 1972 to Ralph and Mary Goade who have preceded him in death. 

Jason was brought up playing baseball. He held the Little League home run record and his team almost made it to the Little League World Series! He loved playing baseball with his son.










Jason graduated from Joplin High School in 1990. He married his love and high school sweetheart Marcie Spiva on September 5, 1998. Jason and Marcie were best friends and partners in life, building the successful Landmark Home Builders. 

Jason had served on the board of Joplin Home Builders Association. He built beautiful custom homes all over the area. Prior to this he was a manager at FedEx.

Jason’s pride and joys were his children, daughter Ava, a sophomore at Carthage High School, and son Jaxon, a sixth grader at Carthage. His kids’ friends loved Jason and he was a positive father figure to everyone.

Jason was an example of a giver and always put other first expecting nothing in return. He was very positive and always had a joke to tell. Despite major difficult back surgeries he kept going and stayed positive for his wife and kids. Jason was not only a talented builder, but an artist, a great cook, and never knew a stranger.

Besides his wife, Marcie and his children Ava and Jaxon, Jason is survived by his beloved in laws, Danny and June Spiva, his best friend and brother, Scott Goade and his sister in law Jane of Carl Junction, brothers Mike and Brian, and several nieces, nephews, and beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jason was a baptized member of the 7th Day Adventist Church.

Joe Hardy Hendricks, II, was born February 14, 1956 in Waterloo, Iowa, one of four children to Wayne and Bonnie (Miller) Hendricks. Joe went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 26, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 65. 

Joe graduated from Neosho High School and began working with his parents in the family business, Fidelity Abstract. In 1979, he established Elk River Abstract and Title Company in Pineville, Missouri and retired in 2010. He went on and worked another five years for Allgeier, Martin & Associates, in the line of work he loved, platting, creating legal descriptions and buying and selling highway right of way. 








He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and also enjoyed collecting antiques. His greatest joy was spending time with family. 

Joe was saved at the age of 18 and throughout his life, followed a calling to share the good news of Jesus Christ with as many people as he could. He spread the gospel all across the country through street ministries, prison ministries and carried the Cross through many states, spreading the love of our Lord and Savior. 

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Carol Walker who survives of the home. They were married for 47 years and had three daughters born to their union, Sundi and husband, Pete Walters of Anderson, MO, Michelle and husband, Steven Englert of Anderson, MO and Ashley and husband, Bill Childers of Centerton, AR; seven grandchildren, Payton, Chandler, Tucker, Kemper, Alexis, Nora and Ridge; two brothers, Gary Hendricks of Neosho, MO and Rick and wife, Jan Hendricks of Neosho, MO and one sister, Karen Daniels of Joplin, MO.

Marcia Spencer

Marcia Lee Spencer, 81, of Clinton, MO passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the Redwood of Raymore. Marcia was born January 10, 1940 in Joplin, MO to Charles and Nadeen Angel. 

Marcia grew up in Joplin where her father owned a feed store. After graduating from high school, she attended St. Luke’s Nursing School and earned her R.N. license. 










Marcia spent the next 46 years as a nurse in various roles, including hospitals in Missouri, nursing homes in Missouri, Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma, and a camp in Colorado. She also used her knowledge to teach nursing at the Nevada Vo-Tech and was the Director of Nurses of a few facilities.

Marcia is survived by her son Joseph (Audra) Spencer, grandson Benjamin (Amanda) Spencer, granddaughter Bethany (Brent) Baughn, great-grandsons, Dayton Spencer, and Cayden Baughn all of Clinton, MO; a niece Janice (Jim) Healey of Sharon, MA; and 7 great-nieces and nephews. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty JoAnn Maxwell, a niece Susan Griggs, and her husband, James Meredith Spencer.

A brief memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Ferry Funeral home in Nevada, MO with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Claude Ray Barton of Noel, MO passed from this life Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Northwest Medical Center of Bentonville in Bentonville, AR. He was 64.

Claude was born April 19, 1957 in Fairland, OK to Samuel David and Iva Jean (Burleson) Barton. He had lived in Noel for the past 12 years, moving from Treece, KS.

He was a self-employed carpenter and plumber.








Claude was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Peggy Sue Smith.

Nathaniel Scott Brooks, age 35, of Big Timber, Montana, passed away September 10, 2021.

Nathan was born May 28, 1986, in Joplin, Missouri to Rob Brooks and Tammy Lynn (Bailey) Brooks. 

Nathan served in the United States Army 10th Mountain Division for 4 years, he was also a cook for a high-end restaurant before his passing. Nathan was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the VFW.








Nathan is survived by his son, Israel Brooks of Peru, his parents, two brothers: Trampas (Leisa) of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and Ryan Brooks of Miami, Florida, three nieces, one nephew, one great-nephew, two great-nieces, and several uncles and cousins.

Nathan was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Shorty Bailey, paternal grandparents, Doc and Wuanita Brooks, and two aunts.

Graveside services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Shiloh Cemetery in Liberal, Missouri.

Carlton Meyer

Carlton Russell Meyer, 74, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Carlton was born on June 13, 1947 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to the union of the late Walter H. and Irene E. (Rossow) Meyer. 

On June 25, 1965 he was united in marriage to Patricia Cunningham, together they shared fifty-six years. 








Carlton retired from Tamko Building Products after thirty-five years of dedicated service. He also was employed with Kenny Neal Ford, and was currently working for Jay Hatfield in Sarcoxie, Missouri. He also served as a fire fighter as well as police and ambulance reserve. 

Carlton was a hard worker and enjoyed what he did. He was of the Lutheran faith. Carlton loving spending time with his family. He also enjoyed wood working, puzzle books and eating peanuts. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

Carlton is survived by his wife, Patty; children, Stacy Fox and husband, Josh, of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Russell Meyer of Sarcoxie, Shannon Dalton of Carthage and Randy Meyer, of Sarcoxie; grandchildren, Bridget Tackett, Heather Norman, Drew Meyer, Robert Dalton, Louise Dalton, Megan Meyer, Aaron Meyer and Kaylee Meyer; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Mrs. Ruth Colleen Wilson, 88, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, September 26, 2021, in the comfort of her home.

Ruth entered this life on September 13, 1933, in Alba, Missouri, one of six children born to the late Arlo and Hazel (Rose) Lasiter. She was raised and attend school in Alba and was a lifelong area resident. 

On May 27, 1949, in Webb City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to George Wilson and together they shared nearly seventy years before his passing on March 4, 2019. 








Besides being a devoted homemaker, Ruth worked for a period of time at the former Elmhurst Nursing Home and Elders Shirt Factory, both located in Webb City. She enjoyed playing the organ, going to area flea markets, working in her yard and gardening. Ruth was a member of the Eastern Star, the Vickers Club and the Oronogo United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Wilson; a grandson, Craig Hilton; and four siblings, Zula, Margaret, Jack and Bud.

Ruth is survived by her two children, Tony Wilson and wife, Linda, of Miller, Missouri and Vickie Lyons of Joplin; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a brother, Larry Lasiter (Dixie) of Carterville; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City with Pastor Teri Haywood officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Purcell. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Tony Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Jason Wilson, Richie Lyons, Danny Reid and Christopher Blanchette. Mr. David Wayne Vowiell, 68, of Carl Junction, Missouri, departed this life on Friday evening, September 24, 2021, in the comfort of his home after a long illness.

David entered this life on January 6, 1953, in West Plains, Missouri, one of two children born to Bruce and Betty (Wheeler) Vowiell. He was raised in Joplin, Missouri and was a 1971, graduate of Joplin High School. 

On April 3, 1978, he was united in marriage to Barbara Monroe and together they have shared the last forty-three years. David worked as a graphic artist throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing and was always involved in his sons sporting activities.








He was preceded in death by his father; and a grandson, Jack Vowiell.

David is survived by his wife, Barbara Vowiell of the home; three sons, David Vowiell, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, Nathan Vowiell and wife, Ellen, of Carterville, Missouri and Jeff Brown of Carthage, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ethan Vowiell, Ava Vowiell, Mia Vowiell, Emma Brown, Grace Brown and Thaxton Brown; his mother, Betty Vowiell of Willow Springs, Missouri; a sister, Dawn Vowiell of Willow Springs; a cousin, Karen Owens also of Willow Springs; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri, with Pastor Charles Chrisman officiating. Russell Thomas Asbell, age 33, of Carl Junction passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Freeman West in Joplin.

Russell was born on June 21, 1988 to Jeffrey Thomas Asbell and Cindy (Thomason) Moran, in Joplin.

Russell grew up in Carl Junction and graduated from Carl Junction High School in 2007. 








After graduating he then attended Franklin Technology Center where he completed the Automotive Technology program. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying everything from fishing to four-wheeling. Russell loved his family, but his world revolved around the love of his life, his daughter, Sophia.

Survivors include his mother, Cindy Moran, and her husband, Blair, of Joplin; his daughter, Sophia Asbell, of Webb City; two brothers, Jake Asbell, and his wife, Krista, of Carl Junction, and Collin Asbell, of Joplin; his grandfather, Tom Asbell, and his wife, Dixie, of Carl Junction; his nephew and niece; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members that loved him. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Karen and Leroy Thomason, and Ruth Asbell; and his father, Jeffrey Thomas Asbell.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with visitation to follow. Private family committal of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Deborah Louise Bibens, age 67, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Mercy of Joplin.

Deborah was born July 23, 1954 in Lenexa, Kansas, daughter of the late Jackie Leonard Kribbs and Audrey Louise (Midyette) Kribbs. 

She graduated from St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, and married Harry Andrew Bibens on July 2, 1974. 








She moved to Joplin in 1972 where she attended Missouri Southern State College, and she retired from Schreiber Cheese of Carthage. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by a sister, Kim Collette Brock.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Andy Bibens; sisters, Cheri Lynn Kruse (Terry) of Denver, Colorado, Susan Beth Kribbs (Wyatt Mueller) of Dallas, Texas, and Leslie Renae Wheeler (William) of Joplin; a brother, Jimmy Blaine Kribbs (Rhonda) of Corpus Christi, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Mac Bearden, 44, of Oronogo, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his home.

Richard was born December 11, 1976 in Joplin, Missouri, to Richard R. and Sadie L. (Rogers) Bearden. Richard lived in the Joplin area his entire life, graduating from Carl Junction High School in 1995.

Richard worked many years for Celltron and enjoyed anything that had to do with cars. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.






 

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard R. Bearden; and two brothers, Randy R. Bearden and Larry Bearden

He is survived by his children, Nicole Bearden, Randy M. Bearden, James C. Bearden; siblings, Connie Monohan, Kathleen Koelling and husband, Craig, Christine Crahan; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with pastor Alan McCamey officiating.

Olive Honeycutt

Olive Lugene Honeycutt, age 73, of Neosho, Missouri, entered into rest at 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born March 30, 1948, in Anthony, Kansas, the daughter of the late Lee H. May and Fay (Teitlebaum) Hawkins. 

On January 11, 1985, she married Harold Honeycutt in Louisville, Kentucky. 










While living in Louisville, she worked for Boeing Aircraft in the Human Resource Department. Lugene and Harold moved to Neosho in 1990, and she worked for Talbot Wire as a Human Resource Specialist, retiring in 2017. She loved embroidering and spending time with her family and her pets.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Harold, two sons, Randy Brewer and Danny Brewer and his wife, Lisa, of Nashville, Tennessee; one daughter, Ashley Rosequist and her husband, Tony, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one sister, Nikki Anderson of Louisville, Kentucky; one brother, Bill May and his wife, Jean, of Texas; and seven grandchildren, Cori, Drew, Beau, Lexi, Hadley, Dexter, and Emmett.

Richard Gene 'Rick' Comer went to his heavenly home on September 22, 2021 at the age of 66 at his residence in Diamond, MO surrounded by his family. 

Rick was born on April 1, 1955 in Joplin, MO to Bobby & Charlotte Comer. He graduated from Diamond High School Class of 1973, and shortly after, married his high school sweetheart, Tammi Thurman on April 23, 1976. 









Rick worked at FAG Bearings for 39 years as a machinist. Rick also owned and operated Comer’s Backhoe Service since 1980. Rick loved garage sales, metal detecting, Chiefs football and Royals baseball. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. Husband, Father, Papa, Friend – Rick deeply loved the people in his life. Rick faithfully served the Lord for over 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Tammi of 45 years; Three children, Josh & Misti Comer of Williston, ND, Jonathan & Amber Comer of Carl Junction, MO, Jordan & Tyler Barnes of Springfield, MO; Three grandchildren, Lizzy, Tatum & Noah; Sister, Kari Blasi and her husband Kendel of Owasso, OK; Mother-in-law, Pat Thurman of Diamond, MO. 

Preceding Rick in death were his parents.

The family suggests any donations to Reel Recovery, a non-profit organization that conducts recovery fishing trips to those battling cancer. Rick attended a Reel Recovery retreat in 2014, and it was an experience he absolutely cherished.

Margaret King

Margaret Ann King, passed into eternal rest September 22, 2021, at Freeman Neosho Hospital after a long illness.

Margaret Ann Swihart was born June 21, 1929, in Warsaw, IN, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Snider) Swihart. Margaret had lived in Seneca most of her life. She was a former member of the Seneca Study Club, author of Messy Margaret’s Cookbook and was one of the founding members of the Seneca Food Pantry where she volunteered.








Margaret loved cooking, reading, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and canning pickles for her family. Margaret loved her family and loved to travel. She will always be remembered as Wayne’s co-pilot in all their world travels.

Margaret was a faithful member of the Seneca United Methodist Church since she and Wayne moved to town in 1948. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women at the church and a past president of the District United Methodist Women. Margaret served for years as the secretary-treasurer of the Seneca United Methodist Church. She was the hostess of all the church dinners and events. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her ability to show Christ’s love to others, her faith and no one will forget her cooking.

Margaret Ann Swihart married J. Wayne King on April 2, 1948, in Warsaw, IN, and he survives.

Additional survivors includ; her children, Janet McConnell and Bruce of Seneca, John King and Kay of Neosho, Jim King and Russ of Romney WV, Judy Rhinehart and Kevin of Joplin, Sharon Pack and Tom of Dayton, OH, and Violet Kanonuhwa of Atlanta; one sister, Mary Lou Swanson of San Angelo, TX; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Jack Swanson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the Seneca Church of Christ.

Austin graduated from Webb City High School in May 2009. He enjoyed camping, bonfires, swimming, spending time with his family and friends, and always ready to have a good time. 







Austin is survived by his mother and step father, Leslie and Sander Barnett of Webb City; father, Barry Thurlo of Webb City; his stepmother, Charity Downey Brown of Stella; his partner Jake Johnson; sisters, Samantha Lucas of Joplin, Sarah Draper of Webb City, Brittany Thurlo of Stella; brothers, Derek Thurlo of Webb City, Jaxen Thurlo of Webb City, Brad Jones of Sarcoxie, Eric Jones of Sarcoxie; grandmother, Debra Hosp; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Doris and grandfather, Wallace Thurlo, grandmother, Sheryl Thurlo and grandfather, Tommy Hosp. 

Austin has been taken for cremation and the family will have private services at a later date.

Christina Kitts

Christina Marie Kitts, age 51, Joplin, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Freeman West after a sudden illness.

Chris was born February 25, 1970 in Sacramento, California, daughter of the late Joseph and Velma (White) Redden. She grew up in California and Kansas, graduating from Baxter Springs High School. She has been working for Celltron of Galena for many years. 








She was a loving person who had a soft spot for stray animals. She had several rescue dogs over the years. She was always looking to spend time with her husband and daughter, she will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include her husband, William David “Bill” Kitts, whom she married July 18, 1998 in Joplin; daughter, Coni Kitts of Austin, Texas; mother and father-in-law, Vicki and Dale Kitts of Joplin.

Funeral service will be Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Virgil Eubanks officiating, and family serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery, Stella, Missouri.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family ask that memorial contributions be made to Chris’s favorite activity, the Joplin Humane Society.

Randy Cunningham

Randy Vern Cunningham, age 65, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Mercy of Joplin.

Randy was born July 14, 1956 in Joplin, son of the late Vernie Franklin Cunningham and Martha Vern (Bloomfield) Cunningham. He grew up in Joplin where he attended Lincoln High School. He was a lifelong resident of Joplin who was known by many and was also a friend to many. 








Randy worked for years at Joplin Sheltered Workshop. He was attending People Home Mission Church of Joplin.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by three sisters, Charlotte Pliler, Norma Cunningham, and Anita Bishop.

Survivors include his brother, Mike Cunningham, and a sister, Nancy Rickey both of Joplin.

Memorial services will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at People Home Mission Church with Rev. Emul DeGonia officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

John Bone

Mr. John C. Bone, 71 of Joplin, Missouri departed this life on September 23, 2021 at his home after an illness.

John was born November 24, 1949 in French Morocco. John grew up in the Pineville Missouri area and attended school there. He later joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. 










John worked as a photographer for most of his life and in his free time enjoyed fishing, shooting pool listening to music and playing Yatzee with his friends and trying to get high.

John was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Naomi Bone and a brother Charles Nance.

John is survived by his daughter; Crystal Bone of St. Louis, Missouri and two grandchildren Nicholas and Ariel. Three brothers; Roger Bone of Joplin, Missouri, Jack Bone of Webb City, Missouri and Calvin Joe Nance of Joplin. Two sisters; Christine Edgerton of Norfolk, VA and Beth Milar of Joplin, MO, Nieces; Charlotte Nance and Heather Cox both of Joplin, Missouri. Two very special caregivers; Bethany Helton and Bill Johnson as well as a host of other family and friends.

Joyce Prewitt

Joyce Louise Prewitt, age 72, of Wheaton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Cassville, Missouri.

She was born July 9, 1949 in Stella, Missouri the daughter of Bert and Louise (Williams) Coleman. 

On April 6, 1968 in Ridgley, Missouri she was united in marriage to Ferman Prewitt, who survives. 








Also surviving are one son, Marty Prewitt of Monett, Missouri; one daughter, Jessica Jones and her husband Brian of Maryville, Illinois; two brothers, Danny Coleman and his wife Carolyn of Joplin, Missouri and Ronnie Coleman and his wife Joni of Rogers, Arkansas and three grandchildren, Brennan, Ty and Cole.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Joyce received her education in Rocky Comfort, Missouri where she graduated from high school. For about one year she worked for Jumping Jack Shoe Company in Cassville. While Ferman was in the United States Army they lived in Germany and then moved to Wheaton where they made their home. For thirty-five years she was employed as a blower assembler at Fasco. She was an active member of Ridgley Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, the Wheaton Senior Citizens Center and the Depot Historical Society. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, raising flowers and being with her grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Donnie Spears and Pastor Frank Smith will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. Friday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Dorothy Quier

Dorothy Louise Quier, 90, of Davidson, North Carolina, passed away August 12, 2021. She was formerly of Pittsburg, KS and Joplin, MO.

She was born November 26, 1930 in Walnut, Kansas to the late Charles and Geraldine Welty Clark. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, George T. Quier, and her son, Jeffrey Quier.









Surviving are her daughter, Cheri (Steve) Thebeau; former daughter-in-law, Terry (Doug) Ward; grandchildren, Brooklin (Brent) Hann, Matthew (McKenzie) Thebeau, Paige Quier, and Amber Rey; and great-grandchildren, Harper Hann, Georgia Grace Thebeau, Aria Quier, Elena Quier, Aiyah Rey and Jordan Rey.

Dorothy was dedicated to her church and church choir, enjoyed playing piano and organ, teaching Sunday school and teaching piano lessons. She enjoyed boating and playing board and card games with her family. Above all, she cherished time with her beloved family and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 11:00 am, at the Park Plaza Church in Joplin, MO.
