Hank Gorman

William Henry “Hank” Gorman passed away on September 23, 2021, 10 days after his 80th birthday in Jane, MO at home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Hank was the 10th child of 12 children born of Billie and Edith Oral Gorman, born September 13, 1941 in Kanorado, KS.

He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Kay Short on December 23, 1959, in Saratoga Springs, Missouri. They were married for 22 years and had four children born to their union, Henry Randal, Richard Wayne, Lorlinda Kay, and Roger Allen Gorman. 








Hank served his country faithfully in the US Army. Hank was married to his beloved wife of 40 years, Linda Sue McNelly on August 14, 1981 in Bentonville, Arkansas. She brought to their union her three children Joni Sue, Mark Wayne and Nancy Ann Baker.

His formative years were spent growing up on the family farm in Smith Center, KS and continued when the family relocated to Missouri. After his high school graduation he worked in many professional avenues and continued his education at Crowder College until graduation with his associates in Water and Waste Water. He retired from Bella Vista Water Department after over 20 years. His last job was with Heritage John Deere in Pineville, MO.

His work life was varied and extensive, but his favorite work other than raising his kids was when he was in the service of his Lord. He faithfully served his community as the pastor of Mill Creek Baptist church, 1971-1977, located in Noel, MO. He moved his life of service to the help the people in Jane, Missouri as the Pastor of The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served with unwavering faith and dedication for 27 years. He loved the Lord with all his soul, with all his mind, and with all his strength.

Hank is survived by his wife, Linda Gorman; his children, Randy (Norma) Gorman of Hogansville, GA, Joni Sue (Tony) Shelton of Bixby, OK, Richard Gorman of Joplin, MO, Lorlinda (Ralph) Hackett of Bentonville, AR, Mark Baker of Jane, MO, Roger (Terry) Gorman of Forney, TX, Nancy (Marvin) Buttry of Jane, MO; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Avilda Jane Hawpe of Scott City, KS, Lennard Ike of Pineville, MO, Leta “Leete” Ealla of Colby, KS, Loren Arley of Diamond, MO, Mary Lorlinda Litchfield of Anderson, MO, Vera Kay Gorman of Anderson, MO, Bonnie Irene (Bob) McQuillen of Anderson, MO. He is proceeded in death by his first wife Sharon Kay Short, his brothers Earl Linn, Billie Murrel; his sisters Irma Idelle Gorman, Connie Jean King; his grandsons Brian Ralph Hackett and Austin John Buttry.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, September 27, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home, 100 Spring St, Anderson, MO 64831. Interment will be a private family event at the Saratoga Springs Cemetery, Southwest City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in his name.
