Rick Comer

Richard Gene 'Rick' Comer went to his heavenly home on September 22, 2021 at the age of 66 at his residence in Diamond, MO surrounded by his family. 

Rick was born on April 1, 1955 in Joplin, MO to Bobby & Charlotte Comer. He graduated from Diamond High School Class of 1973, and shortly after, married his high school sweetheart, Tammi Thurman on April 23, 1976. 









Rick worked at FAG Bearings for 39 years as a machinist. Rick also owned and operated Comer’s Backhoe Service since 1980. Rick loved garage sales, metal detecting, Chiefs football and Royals baseball. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. Husband, Father, Papa, Friend – Rick deeply loved the people in his life. Rick faithfully served the Lord for over 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Tammi of 45 years; Three children, Josh & Misti Comer of Williston, ND, Jonathan & Amber Comer of Carl Junction, MO, Jordan & Tyler Barnes of Springfield, MO; Three grandchildren, Lizzy, Tatum & Noah; Sister, Kari Blasi and her husband Kendel of Owasso, OK; Mother-in-law, Pat Thurman of Diamond, MO. 

Preceding Rick in death were his parents.

The family suggests any donations to Reel Recovery, a non-profit organization that conducts recovery fishing trips to those battling cancer. Rick attended a Reel Recovery retreat in 2014, and it was an experience he absolutely cherished.
