Ann Ball

On April 28, 2019, Ann Ball was welcomed to the sweet land of rest, the place she worked faithfully her whole life to reach.

A 1933 Fourth of July baby, Annie Lois Knight was born in central Alabama to Roosevelt and Georgia (Kight) Knight.

It was in her beloved home state she met a smooth-talking farm boy from Seneca, Missouri, who was stationed at nearby Fort Benning. On September 2, 1952, Ann was united in marriage to U.S. Army Sgt. Floyd Ball in Phenix City, Alabama.

The couple had four children — Floyd Ray Jr., Anita Gail, Yvonne and Randy Allen. They lived at Fort Benning until Floyd’s service was completed, then in California briefly before settling for life where he was raised in rural Seneca. The couple were inseparable for 63 years and 10 months, until Floyd’s death in 2016.

Ann supported Floyd in all his dreams, and the two worked side by side, fulfilling them together. They came out of “retirement” to operate Circle B Buggies & Wagons, handcrafting pieces of the Old West that were sought after by people all over the country, including dignitaries. 

She not only did work in the home and cared for the children in the early years, but also Ann wasn’t afraid of “men’s work,” no matter her age. She toiled alongside her husband on the Circle B Ranch, with the children reporting she milked more cows than Floyd ever even thought about. 

Ann loved gardening to provide for the family, and she shared her bounty with friends and loved ones, spending hours in the sun to get things just right.

It was important to Ann that she do what she could with her own hands and talents. That philosophy extended to things like quilting and canning and cooking — with Floyd always saying he’d rather have her cooking than any from a restaurant. Except of course, if Ann was the cook there. Ann owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Cafe in Seneca at one time, and later was a cook at other cafes. Ann took pride in her efforts, and she enjoyed being a hostess, especially on Christmas Eve, her favorite holiday. Fact is, no one came to her home on a regular day without Ann stepping into the kitchen to fix them a feast — even if they weren’t hungry. 

Ann’s faith was the most important thing in her life. It guided her every decision, every day. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, and before that, the Hart Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School class for more than 45 years, was a longtime member of the choir, and she volunteered for anything needed at the church. For 30 years, she held a weekly devotional ministry at the Seneca Home Place. Later, she was joined by Floyd in that ministry.

For nearly 64 years, Ann took care of Floyd and he took care of her. But it was her patience, prayers and constant Christian example that brought Floyd to the Lord. Her husband credited her Christian example and never-ceasing faith as being the light that overcame his stubbornness. The two spent the remainder of their lives with the hope that six decades together on Earth would not be all there was to their story — they would be reunited again through God’s promise.

Ann is survived by her children, Floyd Ray Ball Jr. and wife, Jane, of Seneca; Randy Ball and wife Debbie, of Cleveland, Okla.; and Anita O’Brien, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; siblings, Myrtice Arrington, of Roanoke. Ala.; Lorene Glass, of Gadsden, Ala.; and Buddy Norris, of Roanoke, Ala.; seven grandchildren — Corey Ball, Chris Ball, Brandi Ball, Blake O’Brien, Kristen Kendrick, Lindsay Head and Mikeal Ball — and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Campbell-Biddelcome Funeral Home.

Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Bethel Baptist Church, with Fred Mills officiating. Burial will be in the Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery with Corey Ball, Chris Ball, Blake O’Brien, Mikeal Ball, Brock Kendrick and Lindsay Head serving as pallbearers.

Stella Spencer

Stella Mae (Sorenson) Spencer passed on to be with Jesus on April 24, 2019. Stella was born in Liberal, MO; on December 24, 1929 to Hattie Lucille (Palmer) and Charles Allen Sorenson.

After high school Stella attended nursing school and became an RN.

She married Lloyd V. Spencer, son of Paul and Maude (Stevenson) Spencer on September 10, 1950.

During Stella’s career as an RN, in both Wichita, KS and Kansas City, MO; she practiced her nursing skills in public health arena, the hospitals, and the public school system.

Stella was active in the Methodist Church and in her community during her retirement years in Lamar, MO.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Spencer of 67 years, daughter Linda Charlene Spencer, brother Jack Sorenson and her great granddaughter Harley Jeanne Combs.

Survivors include three daughters Carol (Brian) Finley of Papillion, NE; Vicki (Tony) Hemley of Overland Park, KS and Nancy (Bob) Hopkins of Independence, MO. Along with 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

There will be a family graveside burial later this summer at Liberal City Cemetery for both Stella and Lloyd Spencer.

Wuanita Zimmerman

Wuanita Eugene (Lee) Zimmerman, age 86 of Carthage Missouri was received by our Lord on April 28, 2019 at 6:30 a.m. She resided at Carthage Health and Rehabilitation for her last 10 years where she was being assisted for her Alzheimer condition. She was born to Paul A. Lee and Mable R. Briden on September 17, 1932 in Overland Park Kansas.

Wuanita was the 6th of 9 children. She attended Marrion County School, Carthage High school and Beautician school.

Wuanita was united in marriage to Harry P. Zimmerman on December 17, 1949 in Pecular, Missouri. They celebrated 57 years of marriage, until his passing in 2007. Living in Carthage most of their adult lives.

Wuanita was a devoted wife and mother. Raising three children and working outside her home in various jobs of manufacturing, food service, and the beautician field. From 1976 until 1992 she owned and operated The Corner Beauty Shop. 

Wuanita’s family were prime examples of her beautician’s skills. They were fortunate to receive free haircuts and perms. Taking care of her family and making them look good was an important part of her life. Caring for her children was an enjoyed part of her life. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Later in life she and Harry made quilts. She always had a cup of coffee and something to eat for anyone that came to visit.

Wuanita is survived by one son, William E. Zimmerman and his wife Susan of Oronogo. One daughter, Mabel R. Hutchins and Husband Loren of Carthage. One Son-in-Law, Walter D. Pruiett of Carthage. One brother, Bob E. Lee and wife Ethel of Jasper. And one sister, Lulla B. Hemby of Carthage. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Wuanita was preceded in death by her husband Harry, her daughter Lulla Pruiett in 2014. Step- daughter Sandra Miller. Four brothers; Matt A. Lee, Paul C. Lee, Joe B. Lee and George E. Lee. Two sisters, Evelyn R. Zimmerman and Patty L. Hunter. 

Our Lord has given and has taken away. We can rejoice in Wuanita’s final journey to peace. Our goal should be to join her in the Angel Choir.

Tom Collingsworth

Mr. Thomas Dewey “Tom” Collingsworth, 65, of Enid, Oklahoma, departed this life on Sunday, April 28, 2019, while at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a sudden illness.

Tom entered this life on September 17, 1953, in Joplin, Missouri, one of five children born to Carl Dewey “Doc” and Mona Lee (Morris) Collingsworth. He was raised in Southwest City, Missouri and was a 1971 graduate of McDonald County High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, receiving his CPA credentials in 1975.

On April 17, 1976, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Kindell and to this union a son and daughter were born. He was a CPA in Tulsa for seven years before moving to Enid, Oklahoma, in 1983, where he became Chief Financial Officer/Partner of 101 Energy. He enjoyed cooking, traveling and woodworking.

His father, Doc Collingsworth, preceded him in death.

Tom is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Betty Collingsworth of the home; two children, Matthew Collingsworth and wife, Krystle, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Sara Karber and husband, Chase, also of Edmond; two grandchildren, Bennett Collingsworth and Lily Karber; his mother, Mona Collingsworth of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, Jim Collingsworth and wife, Cindy, of Indian Wells, California and Dave Collingsworth and wife, Kitty, of Southwest City, Missouri; two sisters, Lynn Coleman and husband, Buddy, of Springdale, Arkansas and Janet Francisco and husband, Ronnie, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Missouri, with Father Chuck Tobin officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Matthew Collingsworth, Chase Karber, Mike Kindell, Ronnie Francisco, Cody Francisco, Shelby Francisco and Mitchell Lett. Delmar Moore

Delmar Moore, 93, of Forsyth died Monday, April 15, 2019 at his residence. Interment, with military honors will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2019 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.

Delmar Moore was born Friday, October 9, 1925 in Joplin, MO to Jasper Delmar and Mary (Hathaway) Moore. He attended school in Oklahoma. During WWII he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served as a gunner aboard a B-52 Bomber. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Air Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1945. After his military service, he became an Over the Road Truck Driver. He met Patsy Marie Shivers in Atoka, OK and they were married October 26, 1983 in Springfield, MO. Delmar retired from truck driving with Yellow Freight in 1993.

Delmar was very knowledgeable about most subject and stood by his beliefs. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering on cars, working on engines, computers and NASCAR. Most important, he adored his wife, Patsy. He was a member of the V.F.W and was of the Baptist Faith.








He is survived by his wife, Patsy of Forsyth; three sons, Robert Moore and wife, Jenny of Alba, MO, Ricky Johnston of Tishomingo, OK, Robbie Johnston and wife, Debbie of Stringtown, OK; four daughters, Cherry Troxel of Hendersonville, NC, Sandy Betebenner of Carl Junction, MO, Pamela Purdue and husband, Roy of Forsyth, Patricia Finestead and husband, Timothy of Forsyth and many grand and great-greatgrandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ruth Kolpin Rubison

Ruth I. Kolpin Rubison was born November 20, 1922 to Freda Weber and Arthur Weber at her Grandparents' home, Leo and Maggie Agan, near Achilles, Kansas.

Ruth was second eldest of six children. Preceding her in death were three sisters, Loise, Nina, Della, and one brother, Lynn. One surviving brother, Darrel Weber, of Norton, Kansas.

In her early years, Ruth lived on a farm in northwestern Kansas. She loved to dream about growing up and becoming a businesswoman traveling on trains to distant cities, such as New York City.

Ruth married the late Peter A. Petersen in Colby, Kansas and to this union were born two sons. Survivors include sons, A. Dean Petersen and Ronald L. Petersen, Sr. (Louise), eight grandchildren, Christy Brown (Kevin), Connie Anderson (Brad), Cindy Moehring (Barry), Ronald Petersen, Jr. (Marty Ann), Renee Motazedi (John), Patty Miller (Darin), Michael Petersen and Kathy Petersen, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Ruth married Richard C. Rubison in 2003 and he preceded her in death in 2012.

Ruth was a pioneer in the Radio, Television and Cable Television industries. She began her broadcasting career in late 1949 with KWGB in Goodland, Kansas (now KLOE). She then joined KGAR (now KBUF) in Garden City, Kansas, and after several years became employed at KGNO, Dodge City, Kansas where she served eleven years as Advertising and Promotion Manager and later helped start a television station in Dodge City, Kansas in 1957.

Ruth came to Carthage, Missouri with her late husband, George Kolpin, in 1962. She loved Carthage the very minute she saw it. George and Ruth purchased KDMO radio which was operating from the “Radio House” at that time. George was host of the very popular KDMO “Switchboard Show” and served as President of the Jasper County Youth Fair for 16 years. George passed away in 1982.

Ruth started the cable television service in Carthage and expanded her cable holdings to 27 communities in Southwest Missouri. At the end of 1986, she sold CityVision, Inc., leaving seven cable plants doing business as Southwest Missouri Cable TV, which were sold to Cox Communications in September 1999.

In 1964, Ruth modernized the Peace Star atop the Jasper County Courthouse, which can still be seen today. In 1967, she served as Vice President and Finance Chairman of the 125th Anniversary of Carthage, which later became the annual Carthage Maple Leaf Festival. She served the community by involvement in many area organizations such as; The American Red Cross, Spiva Arts Center, Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, Girl Scouts, Heartland Opera, Carthage United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Community Foundation, Historic Preservation, Private Industry Council and Midwest Gathering of the Artists. She was also a lifetime member of Soroptomist International of Carthage.

In 1976, Ruth was named "Boss of the Year" by the Carthage Jaycees and "Citizen of the Year" in 1986 by the Carthage Lions Club. She received the Carthage Chamber of Commerce Athena Award in 1992. In 2006, she received the Carthage Chamber of Commerce Richard M. Webster "Citizen of the Year Award" and the Daughters of American Revolution Community Service Award. In 2008, she was named the “Women of the Year” by the Joplin Business Journal. Ruth was inducted in the Carthage Hall of Heroes in 2015. In 2017, the names of George and Ruth Kolpin were added to the new Carthage football stadium on the multi-story press box.

In 1988, Ruth was inducted into the National Cable Pioneers. Missouri Southern State University awarded Ruth the first ever Pioneer Broadcaster Award. In 2003, she established The Ruth I. Kolpin Endowed Broadcast Journalism Scholarship Fund for Missouri Southern State University students majoring in mass communication, with an emphasis on broadcasting. A generous donation was made by the Ruth I. Kolpin Foundation to help with the digital upgrade of KGCS-TV. In appreciation, the KGCS-TV studios were named “Ruth I. Kolpin Studios”.

Ruth had a strong passion for philanthropical giving and always wanted to help people succeed in their lives. She was looked up to by her family as the matriarch, who led by example. Her hard work and dedication will always be cherished by her children and grandchildren, who are following in her footsteps.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Webb City with Father J. Friedel officiating. Private entombment will follow at Park Cemetery in Carthage. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Matthew Anderson, Bennett Moehring, Hayden Moehring, Ron Petersen, III, Trey Emory, Chaz Miller, Cole Miller, Kyler Miller, William Motazedi, Phillip Motazedi, Justin Brown, Seth Truesdale, Dalton Thomas and Dakota Thomas. Prayer service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with visitation following until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth I. Kolpin Broadcast Journalism Scholarship at Missouri Southern State University or the R-9 School Foundation “Ruth I. Kolpin Rubison Early Childhood Center ~ Carthage” in care of the mortuary.

Wilma Hagebusch

Wilma M. Hagebusch, age 95, of Wentworth, MO died on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, MO. Mrs. Hagebusch was born in Wentworth, MO on Wednesday, May 30, 1923. She was the daughter of Lee and Mary (Fertig) Reynolds.

Mrs. Hagebusch was the widow of Oral Hagebusch who she married October 08, 1940 in Wentworth, MO. Oral preceded her in death on August 16, 2014.

Surviving are the following: her brother-in-law, Less Hagebusch of Wentworth, MO; her two sister-in-law, Mrs. Phyllis Murray of Milford IL; and Joyce Reynolds of Copeland KS. and several neices and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO. Barbara Hughes

Barbara L. Hughes was born March 6, 1931 in Neosho, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Mary D. (Adams) Landreth. She entered into rest on April 27, 2019 in Lebanon, Missouri, following a short illness at the age of 88.

 Barbara was a lifelong resident of Neosho and worked in the family business, Hughes Brothers Motors, as a bookkeeper for many years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling and was of the Baptist Faith. 

 Barbara married Benjamin (Bennie) Hughes and he preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Larry Hughes of Missouri and Mike Hughes of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Whitney Russell, Clayton Collins, Olivia Hood, Carrie Flory, three step grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Dee Ann Collins, one brother, Dick Landreth and one sister, Judy Landreth.

Alan Merrick

Alan Lloyd Merrick, Neosho, MO, passed away April 26, 2019 at the age of 63. He was born September 11, 1955 in Lombard, Illinois to Stanley and Mildred (Kimentz) Merrick.

 He had been employed as a waste water operator for the City of Joplin, MO. Alan loved the state of Arizona, his family, his truck, and target shooting. 

 He and Leslie (Powers) Merrick were married December 3, 1988 in Tucson, AZ; she survives of the home. 

 Alan is also survived by one son, Frankie Merrick of Neosho, MO and one grandchild, Asher Merrick. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ron Merrick.

Private memorial services are being arranged.

Edth Sitton

Edth Lorene Sitton was born November 19, 1920 near Milford, Missouri and passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Lamar, Missouri. At 21 months of age, her mother died and she was then raised by her paternal grandparents, E. E. and Schrilda Keefer Dickey.

When she was six years old she got to enjoy the experience of riding a train. She walked 3/4 of a mile to school and loved school and all her teachers. On bad weather days, Joe Berry would come pick her up with a horse drawn surrey.

Each fall they had a box or pie supper at school to raise extra money for the school. Before Memorial Day she and her grandmother would work days on making crepe flowers and gather wild flowers to put into jars at the cemetery. The 4th of July always meant homemade ice cream and Christmas meant hard candy and chocolate drops. Easter meant putting boiled eggs in beet juice to pickle them. She loved holidays.

She lived on old Highway 71 before it was paved and the mail was delivered by cart and horse. Monday was always her washday growing up and remained so into her 90's. The bad thing about using coal was the walls got extremely dirty. They wallpapered often and she became a trusted wallpaper hanger to carry into her older life.

Edth was in charge of feeding and milking cows, feeding chickens and gathering eggs. She also learned to plant, pick and can vegetables and fruits.

In winter, Edth's grandmother made horehound candy and it was good for sore throats. The treatment for chest colds was turpentine, kerosene, and lard which would be heated and rubbed on Edth's chest. It evidently worked because no school days were missed.

At age 13, she gave her life to the Lord and depended on Him the rest of her life. She and Kyle W. Sitton eloped on April 24, 1938. Their first apartment was on Gulf Street for $5.00 a month. They joined the Lamar Assembly of God Church. Two sons were born to the family, Larry and Bob.

In 1939 a new house cost $3,850.00 and a car was $700.00. Gasoline was 10 cents a gallon and milk cost 49 cents a gallon.

Edth started working for Big Smith in January 1948 for 45 cents an hour. In 1968 she was employed by Chastain's Nursing Home of Lamar and in 1972 she worked at Rag Bag until 1982.

She was a volunteer at the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for 31 years, The Awesome Walking Club where she logged over 1,000 miles, until they disbanded. She prepared handmade quilts for needy families, missionaries and orphanages in Venezuela, helped at the Good Samaritan Shop and the Barton County Library Story Hour. She also handmade over 100 Cathy Caps through Springfield Cox Hospital for cancer patients with hair loss, was a member of Fiber Arts Guild and volunteered at the ARMS (American Rehabilitation Ministries) of Joplin. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and was active in her church until she was unable to and she cared for her husband in their home during his last two years of bedfast health.

She was preceded by her parents, Chauncey Lee Dickey and Elizabeth "Bessie" Jane Walker, one grandson, Larry Kyle Sitton and her sister, Claudine Dickey Crockett.

She is survived by children Larry Lee and Donna Sitton, Robert Kyle and Janet Sitton, grandchildren Karen Dian Sitton of Arizona, Janell Sitton-Coats of Joplin and Kelly Danet Hahn of Arizona, great-grandchildren David Obermiller, Max Cutlip and Gracie Sitton-Coats and great-great-grandchildren Izabella and Trinity Cutlip.

Graveside services were held Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Lamar, Missouri.

Trace Keithly

Trace Reed Keithly was born 6:36 PM on April 22, 2019 at Nevada Regional Medical Center to Bradly and Rebecah Keithly of Nevada, MO

He will be lovingly remembered by his parents and his brother, True Keithly, grandparents, Kevin and Kelli Sprenkle of Liberal, Mo, Mike and Vercie Keithly of Lamar, MO, and Lori Medlin of Lamar, MO as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, great and great great-grandparents.

Bill Baulche

Bill Dan Baulche of Miami, OK passed from this life Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 82.

Bill was born April 22, 1937 in Miami, OK to William Roy and Hazel Marie (Switzer) Baulche. Bill had lived in Miami all his life and graduated from Miami High School class of 1956, he went to State Business College in Miami in 1957, N.E.O. A &M College in Miami in1972 and received his degree in computer science and accounting he then graduated from Missouri Southern College in Joplin with a degree in Business Management in 1976.

He went to work for King Press in Joplin in 1972 until retirement as a Cost Accountant. Bill was active in the Boy Scouts of America.

Juanita Epling

Mrs. Juanita Ruth Epling, 89, of Bentonville, Arkansasformerly of Washburn, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday evening, April 23, 2019, in the comfort of her home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Juanita entered this life on November 13, 1929, in Mohegan, West Virginia, one of eight children born to the union of the late Julius Cameron and Birdie Oma (Jenks) Johnston. Her formative years were spent in West Virginia.

 In 1946, she was united in marriage to Raymond Lee Lambert. They resided ten years in Ashtabula, Ohio. Raymond passed away in 1957, leaving behind Juanita and four children. 

In 1962, she married Cecil Lee Epling, making their home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. In 1967, they moved to Neosho,Missouri and later to Newtonia. Cecil passed in 1980 and in 1982, she left Newtonia and moved to their family farm in rural McDonald County near Washburn. She loved music and served as song leader at her church. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Juanita was a devoted homemaker throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Raymond Lambert and Cecil Epling; a son, Tom Epling; two granddaughters, Rebecca and Amber Epling; one great granddaughter, Rachael Staib; one great grandson, Kade Clark; and five siblings.

Juanita is survived by six sons, Jim Epling, Paul Epling and Raymond Lambert all of Washburn, John Lambert of Owasso, Oklahoma, Mark Epling also of Washburn and Ethan Epling of Battlefield, Missouri; four daughters, Monie Lambert and Shirley Lambert Staib Brown both of Bentonville, Arkansas, Sandy Allen of Strang, Oklahoma and Patty Lambert of Washburn; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two siblings, George Johnston and Mary Ellen Amey; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Visitation for Juanita will be held on Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2019 from 2-4:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Friends are invited to the reception after the viewing at The American legion post in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Ken Rothman

Kenneth J. Rothman of St. Louis and Crystal River, FL, passed away on April 26, 2019 in St. Louis at the age of 83.

Beloved husband of Judith Kriegshauser Rothman; father and father-in-law of David Rothman (Mary), Sarah Rubin (Philip), Rachel Rothman (Glenn Chenalloy) of Los Angeles and Daniel Rothman (Jennifer) of Des Moines; grandfather of Alijah, Jennifer, Samuel, Benjamin, Brian, Paige, Andrew, Eizabeth and Katherine; brother and brother-in-law of Amelia Katzman (late Morris), Reva Ferman (late Marty, Ph.D.) and the late Barbara Landis (late Eddie); former husband of Geraldine Serot (Donald) of Lakeland, FL. Dear uncle, cousin and friend to many. Lover of all animals, especially Angus, Dudley and Frosty.

Kenneth graduated from Washington University and Washington University School of Law and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2011. He served in the Missouri Air National Guard and was called to active duty in Europe during the Berlin Crisis.

Mr. Rothman was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1962 and held his office until 1978. During that time, he was elected to several House leadership positions, including House Majority Leader and Speaker of the House. 

Mr. Rothman was elected and served as Lieutenant Governor of Missouri from 1980 to 1984. Kenneth guided numerous important pieces of legislation and was most proud of the passage of a law that advanced child abuse prevention.

Kenneth was introduced to horses at the age of 5 and became a true equestrian. He was a gentleman of distinction and admired antiques, history and boating.

Tina Daniels

Tina Louise (Hilburn) Daniels, age 56, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019, at her home.

She was born November 9, 1962, in Eugene, Oregon, the daughter of James and Jo (Hamilton) Hilburn. On April 19, 1980, she was united in marriage to Terry Daniels, who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Jo Davis; one son, T. J. Daniels of Cassville, Missouri; one daughter, Tamara Daniels of Cassville, Missouri; two brothers, Joseph Mishler and Ronnie Hilburn, both of Purdy, Missouri; one sister, Brenda Parsons of Webb City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Ariauna, Brina, Rystin, Julian and Jeanelle and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her father, James Hilburn.

Tina moved to this area as a young child. Tina dropped out of school her junior year but later received her GED and then attended MSSU, receiving her degree in nursing. Tina worked at Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation as an MDS Coordinator/Nurse. Tina was a compassionate and caring person that dedicated her life to helping others. Tina loved her huge family that she was proud to be a part of. She was a Cardinals Fan and on her way to being a Kansas City Chiefs Fan. She loved camping, fishing, gardening, crafts, painting, listening to family play music and most of all family get togethers.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 28, 2019, in Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Ralph Hilburn will be the speaker.

Betty Kirkpatrick

Betty June Kirkpatrick was born January 5, 1928 in Milfay, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter A. and Flora (Simpson) Moore. She entered into rest on April 26, 2019 at Medicalodge in Neosho, Missouri at the age of 91.

 Betty moved from Oklahoma to California at a young age with her family and lived there until her marriage and after having her family, moved to Neosho, where she lived most of her life. She worked as a cook at the former Neosho Senior Center and then at the Ozark Bible Institute and College. She loved to cook and was a member of the Bible Holiness Assembly of God Church. 

 Betty is survived by her husband, Robert Kirkpatrick of Neosho; six children, Gary Moore, Ronald Moore, Dale Moore and Becky Ferrell and Shawn Moore all of Neosho and Pamela McCutchen of Noble, Oklahoma; one brother, Teddy Moore of Neosho; one sister, Geneva Lewis of Fresno, California; twenty four grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 

 She is preceded in death by a son, Danny Moore and two sisters, Mildred and Barbara.

Russell Duncan

Russell Lee Duncan was born March 6, 1941 in Neosho, Missouri, the son of Riley and Hattie (Donahue) Duncan. He entered into rest on April 26, 2019 at his home in Neosho, following an extended illness at the age of 78.

 Russell worked for the City of Neosho in the Public Works department as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his motorcycle. 

 Russell and Barbara (Dunklee) were married in October of 1968 in New Hampshire and she survives. 

 Additional survivors include three children, Tammy McDonald and husband, Ed of Granby, Tim Duncan and wife, Michalle of Neosho and David Duncan and wife, Devi of New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Misty Veith, Brittany Chatham, Tyler Duncan, Johnathon Duncan, Devina Duncan and Devyn Duncan and four great grandchildren. Russell is preceded in death by a son, Michael Duncan, his parents, two sisters and eight brothers.

Russell will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Paul Hudson

Paul Eddie Hudson passed away on April 24, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 74. He was born on the family farm north of Goodman, Missouri, on August 26, 1944 to the late Levy G. Hudson and Parelee Hudson. He is survived by his only sister, Ruth Marie Nicoletti of Goodman.

Paul went to school in Goodman and graduated from Goodman High School in 1962. He moved to Tulsa in 1964 with is wife, Montez, who preceded him in death. He became a member of the IBEW-Local 584 as an apprentice. He studied for four years to become a Journeyman Wireman. Not long ago, he received the diamond membership pin for 50 years of service. He felt blessed to have made some lifelong friends among the IBEW Brotherhood.

 His work as JW took him to many places and he delighted in telling stories about his travels, his adventures and his sometimes, misadventures. On one such adventure, he found himself in a little town in Utah on his 33rd birthday. 

 It was during that time of celebration that he met his future wife, Jeannie. They eventually moved back to Paul's family farm and married on December 31, 1980. Together they worked on the farm and raised a fine herd of beef cattle. Along with the cow/calf operation, Paul also opened County Lines Motors where he could enjoy his love of cars. He loved a beautiful automobile and enjoyed bringing an old car back to its original glory. He also loved the buying aspect of owning the car lot. Going to auctions of any kind was exciting and fun for him.

Many years of Paul's life were lived hard and fast and having a good time was the order of the day. But, one day he decided that heaven was actually the most important thing he could aspire to. He changed his life and was baptized into the Methodist faith. His church family was of great importance to him. He was a proud member of the ROMEO'S and loved meeting the guys for breakfast each week.

It is Paul's wish that people celebrate his life with laughter and remembrances and has asked that friends and family please share their stories.

Paul Eddie is survived by Jeannie, his wife of 38 years; two daughters, Mary Juliann Hudson Lockhart (Steve) and Paula Gravatt (Phillip), three grandchildren, Tyler Mooney, Rachel Dawn Mooney (Derrick) and Stephen Garoutte; four great grandchildren, Lucas Mooney, Aiden Jones, Ireland McKenna Jones and Bentley Kirkendoll; along with four sisters in law, (Diana, Connie, Ginger, Shelly), four brothers in law (Leonard, Jesse, Loren, Clinton), many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Steve Ousley

Steve Curtis Ousley, a lifetime resident of Joplin, MO was received into Heaven at 8:22 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the age of 57. He was the son of the late Elwood and Dorothy (Ulmer) Ousley.

Growing up, Steve had a multitude of interests. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as backpacking and scuba diving. Sports, orchestra, and friends occupied his time at Parkwood High School where he graduated in 1980. For decades, Steve filled the role of student and teacher in several systems of Martial Arts from different cultures earning several black belts.

Steve married Melanie Pim on June 5, 1982 and raised a son, Grant, and a daughter, Hailey. He had the opportunity to walk Hailey down the aisle to marry Jacob Johnson. One of his proudest moments was meeting his granddaughter Savannah. He loved spending time with his brother and sister-in-law Derik and Melinda Campbell, going to the movies with his nephew Trevor and texting his niece Madeline weekly to encourage her at school.

Despite developing health complications, Steve was intentional about valuing the people he interacted with on a daily basis and becoming a life-long learner. An interest and love for Barbeque gave him an outlet for creativity while providing a tasty hobby friends and family could benefit from.

Even upon passing, Steve was planning and dreaming vacations and events to allow his family, church family, and friends to make new memories.

A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and support staff at Freeman Health System for your care and hard work keeping Steve healthy.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, April 28th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church. Funeral services are planned for Monday, April 29th at 10 a.m., also at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill cemetery with Greg Ulmer, Melvin Bowman, Gary Stubblefield, Derik Campbell, Trevor Campbell, Roger Kidd, Jason Cravens, Kevin Lapping, Gary Shipley, Shane Peterson, Paul Larsen, and Tom Blankenship serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset the cost of funeral expenses.

Gary W. 'Jack' Arehart, age 74, Joplin, passed away 7:34 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness.

Gary was born August 20, 1944 in Seneca, Missouri to the late Lawrence Leonard Arehart and Stella Mae Barker Arehart and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life.

Gary worked for Mattes Brothers Construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years, working along the state of Missouri. He loved his family with everything he had and will be missed by all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Goldie; his children, Brenda Arehart Ellis and husband, Michael, Joplin, Gary E. Arehart and wife, Theresa, Joplin, Ricky Arehart and wife, Kelly, Joplin, Tacy Arehart, Joplin, Kimberly Arehart Clark and husband, Bill, Carl Junction, Travis Arehart and wife, Shelby, Joplin; siblings, Norma Wolfe and husband, R.E., Kansas City, Delores Handley and husband, Rex, Lavita McCloud and husband, Mike, Merna Pickett, Joann Carpenter, Leonard Arehart and wife, Judy, Brent Arehart, Larry Arehart; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Barbara Goodknight

Barbara J. Goodknight, Grove, Oklahoma, passed away at 7:17 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at Mercy Hospital after a sudden illness.

Barbara was born September 5, 1944 in Miami, Oklahoma to the late Ralph Truesdell and Rubye Pritchard Truesdell and had lived in Grove the past seventeen years, moving from Joplin.

A homemaker, Barbara was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church, Grove, where she was active in the A.C.T.S. Sunday School class.

She enjoyed nature, genealogy, travel and trivia. Barbara loved her family with all her heart. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Barbara married Jim Goodknight on January 28, 1966 in Duenweg, Missouri. He survives at the home.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Christy Spain and husband, Scott, Monett; a son, Patrick Goodknight and wife, Amy, Oronogo; siblings, Jeanne McPherson, Joplin, Jane Potter, Carthage, Morris Truesdell, Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Blake Spain, Shelby Spain, Corey Spain, Trevor Natalini, Walker Natalini and wife, Kelsie, Charley Ann Goodknight; and a great grandson, Wyatt Natalini.

Services are planned for Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Aaron Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Frederic Tarleton

Frederic Robert Tarleton was born January 24, 1933 in Greenville, Michigan to Frederic Lee and Esther (Caughy) Tarleton. He passed away April 24, 2019 in Neosho, MO at the age of 86 years and 3 months.

Mr. Tarleton served in the US Army during the Korean War and was later employed as a dispatcher for the trucking industry. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. 

Frederic and Joan Haggard were married on September 8, 1956 in Oak Park, IL; she survives of the home. 

He is also survived by four children: Paul Tarleton of Bloomingdale, IL, Kim Pacheco of Romeoville, IL, Jill Dibble of Greenville, MI, and Tara Pittman of Albuquerque, NM; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild. 

Frederic was preceded in death by his parents and one child, Tod Tarleton.

William McIntyre

William Richard McIntyre, age 63, Carthage, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his home.

William was born October 16, 1955 in Sikeston, Missouri, son of the late Carmel James McIntyre and LaRita Dillon McIntrye. He grew up in Morehouse, Missouri, and graduated from Morehouse High School. He served in the United States Navy, and after his service he returned to work in the Oil Fields in Elk City, Oklahoma. He then moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he lived a couple of years before moving to Carthage in 1986. He worked for years with Carl Lawson Well Service, and for the last 20 plus years with Bill Seward in gutter installation.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Tracy, who died March 29, 2017; a brother, Chuck McIntyre; and a sister, Cathy Havens.

Survivors include his children, Teea Jaynes and husband Mark of Sikeston, Missouri, Noah Hampton of Joplin; grandchildren, Lukas Hampton, William Hampton, Mazie Hubbard, and Gunner Hopkins; brother, Steve McIntyre and wife Carolyn of Summerville, Tennessee; sister, Candy Yount and husband Jim of Benton, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 A.M. at Parker Mortuary. Family and friends will officiate.

Charles Herrin

Charles Mortier Herrin, Jr., Neosho, entered into rest, following an extended illness, on April 25, 2019 at the age of 93 years, eleven months, and eighteen days. He was born May 7, 1925 in Washburn, MO to Etta (Berry) and Charles M. Herrin, Sr.

Charles served in the US Army, worked for the US Government Department of Defense as an inspector of diesel engines at Rocketdyne, and owned and operated Herrin Grocery for ten years. He enjoyed working with hand tools, was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over fifty years, was an active member of Oakwood Christian Church, and was a loving husband and father. 

Charles and Rueple (Crews) were married June 24, 1944 in Bentonville, AR; she survives of the home. 

He is also survived by one daughter, Susan Herrin of Overland Park, KS and one brother, Doyle Herrin of Pineville, MO. Charles was preceded in death by two siblings, Geneva and James.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, April 29, 2019 at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery.

Nate Berry

Nathan R. 'Nate' Berry, age 21, Joplin, passed away 6:55 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Mercy Hospital.

Nate was born February 4, 1998 in Joplin to Jillean Howerton and Joshua Berry and had lived in the Joplin area all of his life.

Nate worked in construction and did mechanical work on the side. A motorcycle enthusiast, Nate enjoyed taking apart his motorcycles and putting them back together, even if it meant doing it in the living room!

Nate was a free spirit with a heart of gold. He supported Bikers Against Child Abuse and had friends of all ages. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Jillean Howerton and husband, Justin, Joplin; his father, Joshua Berry, Neosho; siblings, Alex Richardson and wife, Summer, Joplin, Ryan Berry, Neosho, William Berry, Neosho, Colin Berry, Neosho, Jaxson Howerton, Webb City, Kylie Howerton, Webb City, Maddison Dreyer, Jackson, Tennessee; grandparents, Jim and Wendy Richardson, Oronogo, Janice Trimble, Joplin, Richard and Debbie Berry, Grove, Oklahoma, and Ron and Rebecca Macy, Seneca.

Services are planned for Monday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. His great uncle, Gary Richardson, will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

Jack Comeau

Jack O’Neill Comeau, age 75, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Wednesday morning, April 24, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. He was born January 11, 1944 in Lodi, California. Jack was a veteran serving his country in the United States Navy.

He married Phyllis Ellis on November 22, 1968 in Miami, Oklahoma; she survives. Jack was owner/operator of Comeau Motors and Comeau Drilling Company. He was a lifetime member of the Carthage VFW Post 2590, the Joplin American Legion Post 13, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed mule rides, had a knack for being a great care giver, even volunteering as a hospice worker, but most of all enjoyed Sunday lunches.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Troy Comeau (wife Lorie), Carthage, Missouri, and Travis Comeau (wife Kenna), Carthage, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jesse, Casey and Carson Comeau, all of Carthage; one aunt, Delphine Gilpin, Joplin, Missouri; and many extended friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Comeau and Daphne (Brown) Comeau.

Visitation will be held 2-3 pm, Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Graveside funeral services will take place 10 am, Monday, April 29, 2019 at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Fannie Hodge

Fannie Mae Hodge, age 87, Carterville, passed away at 2:31 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at her home after an illness.

Fannie was born March 6, 1932 in Carthage to the late Robert Miller and Sarah Scroggins Miller and had lived in the area all of her life.

Fannie worked as a housekeeper for many years in the Carthage area, including several at the famous Phelps House. She was a longtime and faithful member of Church of God-Community Fellowship in Carterville. She loved her family with everything she had and will be missed by all who knew her.

Fannie married William H. Hodge on May 6, 1961 in Springfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2007.

She was also preceded in death by children, Bobby Ray Anderson, Pamela Sue Anderson, David Lee Anderson; and siblings, Edgar Miller, Oscar Miller, Erma Dodson, Pauline Crahan, Mildred Bryant, Violet Hemmery and Kale Miller.

Survivors include her children, Frances Kay Wood, Little Elm, Texas, Sharon Kay Duncan, Joplin, Diana Elaine Banks, Fredonia, Kansas, Patricia Ann Knack, Sarcoxie, Charles H. Barry Delaney

Barry Ward Delaney, age 67, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his home with family at his side.

Barry was born November 9, 1951 in Buffalo, New York, son of the late William Delaney and Jean Stephens Delaney. He grew up in New York, and owned a business, Advent Concert Services, that supplied equipment for concerts in New York. He was also a Bobcat operator for years, and was most recently was owner and operator of Bobcat for Hire until 2019. He enjoyed working with wood and leather, which he learned over the years on his own. He was given the Native American name of Red Bear. He moved to the Joplin area in 1995, and was of the Bahai Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Ronda R. Graveside service will be Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 10:00 until 10:30 a.m.

Patsy Carnes

Patsy Kay Kelley Carnes, 78, of Anderson, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Patsy was born to the union of the late, Lowell and Ethel (Carlson) Kelley in Monett, Missouri on May 25, 1940. Patsy grew up in Monett and attended school there.

She married Melvin Jessie Carnes in June 27, 1957 in Monett, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born. They moved to California where she was a homemaker for 13 years. Then decided to move home to Anderson, Missouri in 1971, where she worked with Melvin in the janitorial business; raising chickens and could always be seen with Melvin at auctions. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, crocheting and making quilts. She taught and played the piano in which she took 11 years of lessons.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Ruth Kelley Power, Betty Ann Sage; a brother, Lowell "Junior" Kelley; a son-in-law, Dennis Joe Sanders; a grandchild, Nicholas Joe Sanders; three great grandchildren, Keira Brooke Hemingway, Taylor Marie Good and Hailey LeAnne Good.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Melvin Carnes of the home; two daughters, Jessie Kay Sanders of Anderson, Missouri, Janice Marie Broemmer and husband, B. of Bentonville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a great great grandson; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Patsy.

Graveside Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Butterfield, Missouri. Pastor Billy Joe Gentry will officiate. Friends and family are welcomed to join us at visitation Friday, April 26, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Anderson Chapel of The Ozark Funeral Home.

Brenda Robertson

Mrs. Brenda Jo Robertson, 57, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in the comfort of her home after a long illness.

Brenda entered this life on March 30, 1962, in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Joe and Ruby Louise (Montgomery) Leach. She moved with her family to Anderson, Missouri, in 1978 and was a 1980 graduate of McDonald County High School.

 On May 17, 1980, she was united in marriage to Larry Robertson and together they have shared the last thirty-eight years. Brenda was a housekeeper and homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed being outdoors fishing and swimming, playing bingo and spending countless hours with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Mae Ortega.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Larry Robertson of the home; four children, April Creason and husband, Clark, of Neosho, Joseph Robertson of Marionville, Illinois, Samantha Hobbs and husband, Jake, of Anderson and Jeremy Robertson and wife, Sammi, of Jane; twelve grandchildren; five brothers, William Biggers of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dale Uhlman of Hooks, Texas, Ronnie Alexander of Goodman, Marshall Alexander of Goodman and Ted Alexander of Lexington, Oklahoma; three sisters, Willie Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Starlyn Smith of Oklahoma City and Sheryle Alexander of Southwest City; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Brenda will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Bob Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery in Tiff City, Missouri. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Robertson, Clark Creason, Jake Hobbs, Ronnie Alexander, Dale Ulhman & Robert Hamilton. Glen Lawson

Glen Dean Lawson, age 83, Seneca, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at his home after an illness.

Glen was born September 7, 1935 in Neosho to the late Clarence Lawson and Nancy S. Payton Lawson and had lived in the Neosho area all of his life.

Glen worked at Kraft Foods, Neosho for many years. He retired in the early 1990's as a supervisor. He then worked for Classic Egg for several years. Glen loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He married Joan Millard on July 18, 1970 in Neosho. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include four children, Nancy Montoya, Judy Childers, Jayleen Rogers, Deana Lawson; a sister, Barbara Hubbard; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lawson; a son, Jimmie Lawson; and several brothers and sisters.

A celebration of life is planned at the family home.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Bethany Ward

Bethany Lynne Ward, age 40 passed away March 15, 2019. Bethany was born April 29, 1978, in Hobbs, New Mexico. She worked in retail sales in Chickasha, Oklahoma before moving with her family to Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1997 where she resided until her death.

She is survived by her parents, David and Joy Ward, Cleveland; a brother, Micah Ward, Raleigh, North Carolina; aunts and uncles, Bert and Barbara Ward, Monett, Missouri and Michael and Linda Hinton, Palm Harbor, Florida; as well as many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Bert and Pearl Ward, and Dee and Marie (Jackie) Hinton.

When Micah was 5 years old he began to pray for a baby sister. A year later, Bethany Lynne came to us, and he was overjoyed. He called her “Happy Baby” because she was always laughing.

Micah always had a little side kick; during Cub Scout meetings. Bethany was there raising her hand for the pledge and taking part. In summer she loved going to New Mexico for Scout camp, hiking with mom through the Ponderosa Pine forest.

In 1993 our family relocated from Oklahoma City to Chickasha; it was tough on Beth to leave our old neighborhood, her best friend Amanda, and her friends at Draper Park Christian Church, but she quickly made new friends and was able to readjust.

In 1997 she moved with her mom and dad to Cleveland, where she again made friends and worked in retail sales. In 2012 she graduated from University of Phoenix with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Administration. She was active on Facebook, remaining connected to friends, old and new.

In 2003 at the age of 25 Bethany was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Though she was frequently ill, she tried to maintain her sense of humor, and coped with it the best she could.

One day she came home with something inside her coat. She was trying to hide a tiny black wiggly puppy that she had rescued from a burlap sack someone had left at the door of the Vet clinic. She had taken her cat Trixie for a vaccination and then couldn’t let that puppy go uncared for. That is how her faithful Labrador retriever came into our lives. Lolly is now 15 years old and is living with us.

One summer day Bethany heard a faint cry from a house two lots away. She ran over the fields barefoot to get to the woman who was shouting for help; she had fallen and broken her hip. Beth called for help and didn’t leave her until it came.

There was no one Bethany would not go out of her way to rescue or encourage. She once saved a little boy from drowning in a hotel swimming pool.

She loved the elderly people she knew and many that she didn’t know. She never met a stranger. She loved to bake treats for her neighbors in Cleveland and was often seen out visiting with them.

Bethany was known to buy things she didn’t need in order to help someone out. The people who set up at the street sale on Pioneer Day in Cleveland were happy to see her coming.

She bought a ticket for the bungee jump ride and gave it to a boy who was wishing he could give it a try.

If she knew someone who needed a special dress she would give away one of her favorites.

Beth was the life of any party and made every get-together into an occasion. She was unselfish to a fault and her sense of hospitality extended to all. She loved her “little Mayberry town” and her many friends.

She had a tattoo on her foot written in Hebrew: “To love life, live it to the fullest.” And she did.

In the past year Beth had a spiritual epiphany. She dedicated her life fully to the Lord. She loved Jesus and told friends she was “now a devout Christ-follower, a born-again Christian”. We praise God for this.

The family wishes to thank Haleigh and Amanda, Rhonda and Mary Ann and the Tulsa St. Francis Hospice team for the loving care given to Bethany. Also thank you to Schaudts Funeral Home of Tulsa and Parker Mortuary of Joplin for their kindness.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Bert Ward officiating.

Gloria Ferguson

Gloria Jean Ferguson, 77, Wyandotte, OK, passed away April 21, 2019 at Freeman Hospital after an illness.

Gloria was born January 27, 1942 the daughter of Edgar Lee JR. and Georgia Lee (Fields) Beard.

Gloria formerly worked at the Eagle Picher plant in Seneca. She was a member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe of Oklahoma. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children; Monett Ferguson, Farris Smith, Robert Erwin, Glen Smith and William Ferguson; 8 grandchildren; host of great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca. Services will be held at a later date.

Joseph Ogle

Joseph Sinclair Ogle 92, of Joplin, MO died April 20, 2019 at the Joplin Gardens Rehab Facility in Joplin, MO following an illness.

Joseph was born August 18, 1926 in Kansas City, MO the son of Oscar O. and Helen A. (Schafer) Ogle. He was a graduate of Westport High School in Kansas City, MO.

Following high school, he joined the United States Navy serving his country in WWII. On September 5, 1954 Joseph married Phyllis Marie Burke in Kansas City, KS; she survives at the home.
Joseph worked for Phillips Petroleum as a pipefitter and later Sewell Plastics in Kansas City, KS before retiring in 1982. Joseph was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He loved fishing, playing billiards, working outside and walking hand in hand with his bride of 64 years.

Survivors include his wife; children Vickie McCraw and husband Jim of Houston, TX, Mary H. Monzel and husband Steve of Salisbury, MD, Joseph M. Ogle of Tulsa, OK, Kathryn A. Ogle of Kearney, MO and Donna S. McNutt and fiancée Mike Zimmerman of Joplin, MO; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents.







Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Monday April 29, 2019 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Jerome Spexarth and Fr. Joseph Weidenbenner as concelebrants. Burial will follow at the Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS. Rosary will be recited at 4:30pm Sunday April 28, 2019 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS; family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00pm following the rosary. In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to St. Judes.

Floyd Dollar

Mr. Floyd Edward Dollar, Jr., 78, of Goodman, Missouri, departed this life on Monday evening, April 22, 2019, while at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.

Floyd entered this life on August 2, 1940, in Little Rock, Arkansas, son of the late Floyd Edward Dollar, Sr. and Nellie (Nunez) Dollar. He was raised and attended school in Greeley, Colorado. In 1956, he joined the National Guard, later enlisting in the United States Army in 1958. He was honorably discharged in December of 1966, serving his country faithfully during Vietnam.

On August 29, 1965, he was united in marriage to Donna Sue Hudgens and together they shared forty-seven years before her passing on October 31, 2012. Floyd was a truck driver and professional cowboy throughout his life. He worked in feed yards in Greeley, Colorado and Hereford, Texas before moving to Anderson, Missouri, in 1987. He was an over-the-road trucker for CFI for nearly twenty years. He also worked at the Jane WalMart and Tyson Foods in Noel. When he found time to relax he enjoyed watching TV. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Sue Dollar; an infant son, Edward Joseph Dollar; and two brothers, Jackie and John Dollar.

Floyd is survived by two sons, Ty Dollar and wife, Shelly, of Goodman and Heath Dollar and wife, Christa, of Anderson; a daughter, Marie “Shannon” Dollar Sams of Carthage, Missouri; an adopted daughter, Mari Cummings of the state of Arizona; six grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters, Martha Parsons of Anderson and Joann Frasier of Pineville; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Floyd will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Bob Holloway officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Ty Dollar, Heath Dollar, Justin Dollar, Ethan Dollar, Jay Frasier and Paul Buckner. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to Feed the Children c/o the funeral home.
