Fred Whitehead

(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)

Mr. Fred L. Whitehead, 74, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, departed this life on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Fred entered this life on March 1, 1945 in Carthage, Missouri, to the union of the late Fred Lee and Erma Charlena (Burkett) Whitehead. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School.

On February 19, 1965 he was united in marriage to Terri Stump at Red Oak Methodist Church. Together they shared fifty-one years until her passing on September 20, 2016.

Fred and Terri owned and operated Whitehead Farm Supply in LaRussell, Missouri from 1976 until 2015. Fred was very well known in all area communities. Through the years while in business, his customers were very much a part of his extended family. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Missouri Beef Cattleman’s Association and National Rifle Association. Fred greatly loved his grandchildren and took tremendous pride in all they did. He raised goats and chickens to their delight. He also enjoyed working, farming, bowling and fishing. Fred will certainly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Terri; daughter, Jonnalee M. Whitehead; brother, Larry Whitehead; and brother-in-law, Larry Heman.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Tonja Whitehead of Sarcoxie, two grandchildren, Charles Whitehead of St. Louis, Missouri and Caitlyn Deviney, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Patricia Guinn, (Rodney) and Linda Heman, both of LaRussell, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a multitude of family and friends.
