Mrs. Martha Joan Haynes, 79, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Tuesday morning, April 17, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West following an illness.
Martha was born January 28, 1940, in Omaha, Nebraska, one of nine children born to the union of William Chris and Patty Lois (Gary) Johnson. She lived in the Joplin area most of her lifetime.

She was very proud of her kids and all of their accomplishments and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She enjoyed fishing as well as many other outdoor activities, including gardening.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jess; and all of her siblings, Marvin, Alvin, Richard, Fern, Ruby, Beatrice, Alice and Vergie.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Haynes (Mike) of Joplin, Karen Haynes of Joplin, Doug Haynes (Tina) of Joplin, Jesse Haynes (Becky) of Pittsburg, Karl Haynes of Joplin and Jeffrey Haynes (Angel) of Joplin; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Martha will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019, at Fairview Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Brock Cummins officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Doug Haynes, Jesse Haynes, Karl Haynes, Jeffrey Haynes, Paul Haynes and Doug Haynes, Jr.
