Fannie Mae Hodge, age 87, Carterville, passed away at 2:31 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at her home after an illness.
Fannie was born March 6, 1932 in Carthage to the late Robert Miller and Sarah Scroggins Miller and had lived in the area all of her life.
Fannie worked as a housekeeper for many years in the Carthage area, including several at the famous Phelps House. She was a longtime and faithful member of Church of God-Community Fellowship in Carterville. She loved her family with everything she had and will be missed by all who knew her.
Fannie married William H. Hodge on May 6, 1961 in Springfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by children, Bobby Ray Anderson, Pamela Sue Anderson, David Lee Anderson; and siblings, Edgar Miller, Oscar Miller, Erma Dodson, Pauline Crahan, Mildred Bryant, Violet Hemmery and Kale Miller.
Survivors include her children, Frances Kay Wood, Little Elm, Texas, Sharon Kay Duncan, Joplin, Diana Elaine Banks, Fredonia, Kansas, Patricia Ann Knack, Sarcoxie, Charles H. Anderson, Carterville, Howard Dale Anderson, Mt. Vernon, Missouri, Ona Marselete Kelly, Joplin, DeEdra W. Messersmith, Sarcoxie; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Reeds Cemetery. Jimmy Crahan will officiate. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-9:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
