Howard Olds

Howard Leon Olds, age 50 passed away at 10:57 pm, Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri.

Howard was born March 9, 1970 in Baxter Springs, KS. His parents were Howard Olds Sr and Sandy M (Woods) Olds. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.

As a young man, he worked as a carrier and in the mail room at the Joplin Globe. He took great pride in his job and developed lasting friendships with his patrons. He always wanted to help people. 

He was an American Indian in the Quapaw Nation. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Riverton, KS. Howard’s favorite pastime was collecting ’57 Chevys.








Surviving is one son, James Olds (wife, Melissa), Joplin, MO; his parents, Howard and Sandy Olds Sr, Galena; one sister, Kay Henady (husband, Brad), Baxter Springs, KS; one niece, Shae Addington (husband, Kyle), Dallas, TX; and one nephew, Bradley Henady (wife, Ashlee), Joplin.

Howard was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. No services are planned.

Howard Peters

Howard Lee Peters, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2020, in the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility at the age of 92.

He was born on September 6, 1928 in Morgan, MO to Otto and Bessie (Price) Peters. Howard graduated from Conway High School in 1947. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

Howard was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Caffey on June 8, 1950 in Lebanon, MO, and they were married for 70 years. He worked for Lily- Tulip Corporation as a machinist and retired after a 33 year career. Howard was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield.








Preceding him in death were his parents, Otto and Bessie Peters; four brothers, Junior Peters and wife Helen and Jerald Peters, Jim Peters, and Jake Peters; one sister, Bonnie Schultz and husband Lloyd; and brother-in-law, Billy Joe Caffey and wife Letha.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Bonnie Peters; one son, Kenneth Peters and wife Jane of Jefferson City, MO; one daughter, Nancy Baker and husband Travis of Lockwood, MO; three granddaughters, Michelle Hardman and husband Lance of Lamar, MO, Jennifer Kunkel and husband Kent of Concordia, MO, and Meredith Marsh and husband Aaron of Concordia, MO; six great-grandson, Lakin Hardman, Luke Hardman, Landon Hardman, Josiah Kunkel, Ryan Kunkel, and Keaton Marsh; two great-granddaughters, Taylor O’Sullivan and husband Thomas and Quinn Marsh; one great-great-grandson, Thomas James O’Sullivan; three sisters-in-law, Gaylene Peters, Pauline Peters, and Mary Lou Peters; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7 2020 in Lockwood Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to view and pay their respects on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, please be mindful of maintaining a social distance. Also, you are welcome to and, indeed, encouraged to wear face masks to protect yourselves and others.

Rosalie Wolfe

Rosalie Jewell Wolfe, of Golden City, MO, departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Lockwood, MO at the age of 99.

She was born on August 21, 1921 in Sylvania, MO to Percy and Dora (Wooldridge) Windes. Rosalie graduated from Lockwood High School and played on the Lockwood Girls Basketball Team. She attended Southwest Missouri State. 

Rosalie was united in marriage to Byron Wolfe on March 25, 1940 in Springfield, MO. She was a member of the Lamar Full Gospel Church and the Golden City V.F.W. Auxiliary.








Preceding her in death were her parents, Percy and Dora Windes; her husband, Byron Wolfe; one son, Jerry Wolfe; and five siblings, Dixie, Betty, Virginia, Ruth, and Bill.

Survivors include one son, Jim Wolfe and wife Anita; six grandchildren, Julie Ashton and husband Kevin, Jennifer Brake and husband Bill, Jeff Wolfe, Brian Wolfe and wife Lisa, Trevor Wolfe and wife Christie; and Jim Wolfe, Jr. and wife Elizabeth; thirteen great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Lilly, Jake, Nick, Katie, Emily, Molly, Caleb, William, Haley, Hannah, and Eric; one great-great-grandchild, Griffin; one brother-in-law, Wayne Beeson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020, at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.

Nick Giberti

James Nicholas ‘Nick’ Giberti, age 75, of Anderson, Missouri passed away October 30, 2020. Nick was born September 20, 1945 to John J. Giberti and M. Jeraldine Lett, in Neosho, Missouri. 

Nick grew up in the Split Log area outside of Anderson and attended McDonald County High School. Nick joined the United States Navy on April 16, 1963 and served as an Engineman 3rd Class. Nick was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Suribachi (AE-21), the U.S.S. Atakapa (ATF-149), and the U.S.S. Georgetown (AGTR-2). 

The U.S.S. Suribachi served as an ammunition ship off the coast of South Vietnam. The U.S.S. Atakapa was a fleet tug and served in the Caribbean and towed the U.S.S. Oakridge to Rota, Spain, then on the way back to the States was diverted and had to escort an LST to Bermuda. The U.S.S. Georgetown served off the coast of Cuba gathering intelligence. Nick was a 3rd degree Mason and was a retired Pipe Fitter, Local 658.






 

Nick and Joyce Fay (Buzzard) Giberti were married May 12, 1965 in Carthage, Missouri. 

Nick is survived by his wife, Joyce Giberti of the home; and three children, son, Traven Giberti and wife, Kay of Neosho, Missouri, daughter, Angie Gonzalez and husband, Tony of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, and son, Darby Giberti and wife, Stephanie of Seneca, Missouri. He is also survived by one sister, Leah; one brother, Allen; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jeraldine; and two brothers, John Jr. and Tim Giberti.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later time.

Nadine Peugh

R. Nadine Peugh, 83, Mt. Moriah, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, at Crestview Nursing Home, Bethany, Missouri, after a short illness.

Nadine was born on June 10, 1937, to Edgar and Lake (Shipley) Power.

On Oct. 25, 1956, she married Larry D. Peugh in Eagleville, Missouri. To this union four children were born.

Nadine was a homemaker, worked at Foster Cafe; in Mt. Moriah, was involved in the Sharon Chapel 4-H Club, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and actively involved in the community of Mt. Moriah. She supported and was involved in the pursuits of her children and grandchildren until her health limited her to do so.








She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Lake Power; husband, Larry Peugh; daughter, Anita J. Peugh; daughter-in-law, Relynda Peugh; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken and Virginia Booth, Eldon and Katherine Power, Randall Power, Alva and Mary Fish; and five nephews, Kevin, Marcus, Steve, Wayne Dale and C.L.

Nadine is survived by her children, David Peugh, Lamar, Missouri, Jill (Rob) Peugh, Mt. Moriah, Dana (Matt) Cameron, Pattonsburg, Missouri; son-in-law, Danny Whisler, Bethany; sister, Mina (Lonnie) Hickman, Mt. Moriah; brother, Charles Power, Leon, Iowa; grandchildren, James, Matthew, Chase, Jake, Logan, Tyler, Aimee, Trevor plus several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is greatly missed by family and friends.

Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in Yankee Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeway, Missouri, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, where social distancing will be observed and masks are recommended.

Brenda Pelham-Boyd

Brenda A. Pelham-Boyd, age 58, passed away on Thursday October 29, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, following a one-month battle with Covid-19.

Brenda was born on September 28, 1962 in Joplin the daughter of Marvin and Carol (Coats) Roughton. She has been a lifetime area resident. She received her bachelor’s degree from MSSU. She had training in Dosimetry Radiation Therapy from Washburn University. She worked thirty-seven years as a certified Medical Dosimetrist for Mercy Hospital, retiring earlier this year. 

After retiring she worked as an independent dosimetry contractor and owned and operated Creation’s Inspired By Brenda. She was a member of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church where she was active in the Heartland Ecumenical Camino and the Alder’s Gate Programs. Brenda loved spending time with and spoiling her six grandchildren. She was a great fisherman and enjoyed making her decorative cups.








She married Richard Boyd on May 28, 2005 in Joplin and he survives. Together they raised their blended family. 

Also surviving are four sons, Ace Luke Pelham and fiancé Monica Bailey, Webb City, MO, Reverend Christian Boyd and wife Karen, Waukesha, WI, and twins, Nathan Boyd and wife Chelle, Joplin, MO and Jarrod Boyd and wife Erin, Neosho, MO; one daughter, Karina Boyd, Ottawa, KS; her mother, Carol Roughton, Joplin, MO; one brother, Michael Roughton and wife Jennifer, Joplin, MO; one sister, Debbie Adkins, Diamond, MO; and six grandchildren, Kameron Boyd, Catlin Boyd, Patrick Boyd, Peyton Adamson, Riley Boyd, and Liam Adamson. 

She was preceded in death by her father Marvin Roughton.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Bob Dart will officiate. Burial will be in Burkhart Cemetery, Racine, MO. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel.

It is especially important to the family that you honor Brenda by wearing a mask and practice social distancing.

Phyllis Close

Phyllis J. Rusk Close, age 95, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Thursday morning, October 29, 2020, peacefully at her home with her children, Renee’ and Phillip by her side. Phyllis was born December 13,1924, in Carterville, Mo., the daughter of Glen Rusk and Juanita Dunham Rusk. She was a 1943 graduate of Carterville High School. 

Phyllis married Robert D. Close on September 1, 1946 at First United Methodist Church, in Carterville, Mo. and they celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary together. Robert preceded her in death in 2018.

Phyllis was employed as a lab technician and doctors assistant for Dr. P. M. Pence, Carterville, Mo. and for Drs. Phillips & Diasher, Seward, Alaska. 








After returning from Alaska she was employed by First National Bank and Trust Co. of Joplin, Mo. She became a full time homemaker when she and Robert began their family.

Phyllis was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a Girl Scout leader and neighborhood chair person for 7 years and past president of the PTA as well as a room mother at Eastmorland Elementary School for 10 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Joplin for 63 years and past president of the Tri-M Sunday School class. She was a member and past president of the Woman's Club of Joplin.

Phyllis’ interests included china painting and doll collecting. She had been a member of the Spiva Art Center. She was a member and past president of the Ozark Porcelain Artists. She was a member and teacher of the International Porcelain Artists as well as the World Organization of China Painters. Phyllis taught china painting at Missouri Southern State University in their Continuing Education program. Phyllis was a guest artist and displayed her work in the Rotunda at the state capital in Jefferson City. She was still teaching at the age of 93. She was a past president of the Joplin Federated Doll Club and a charter member of the Missouri Kewpie Club.

Phyllis was a charter member of Briarbrook Country Club and a member of Twin Hills Country Club. Other memberships included the Carterville American Legion, Joplin Historical Society, and a Y. W.C.A.board member. She enjoyed trips from being a member of Prestige of St. John’s Hospital, Lifestyles of Southwest Missouri Bank, and Mesa sponsored by US Bank. Phyllis was past president of the Opti-Mrs. Club and a lifetime member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, Eta Upsilon Chapter.

Survivors include one daughter, Renee Close Goostree, Joplin; one son, Phillip J. Close and wife, Jo Hannah, Grove, Oklahoma.; two granddaughters, Emily Goostree, Webb City, and Alexandra Close Maffei and her husband, C.J., Grove, Oklahoma.; two great-grandsons, Ethan Goostree, Webb City; and Calum Maffei, Grove, and a niece, Mary Anita Gustin and family, Belen, N.M. Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Glen W. Rusk and sister-in-law Harriet Knight Rusk.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2nd, at the First United Methodist Church of Joplin, with Pastor Marsha Eichler officiating. Burial will follow at the Carterville Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to Ronald McDonald House of the Four States or Carterville Cemetery Association, in care of the mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin.

Brent Baker

Brent Howard Baker, age 49 of Joplin, MO, transitioned to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family.

Brent was born in Joplin on May 7, 1971, the son of Charles William “Bill” Baker, Jr. and Sherry (Howard) Petersen. He graduated with the Class of 1989 from Diamond High School. 

In 1993, he was married to Patricia (Terry) Baker, and together they had two sons: Lauden Baker (1995) and Logan Baker (1999).








In 1993, Brent established his business Utopian Systems that he owned and operated for 27 years. Brent was passionate about music and played guitar and sang vocals in a variety of rock bands in the late 80s and early 90s. He would eventually write, record, and perform his own country album “Giddy-UP!” along with other country and classic rock hits with his band at events and concerts across the four-state area and beyond.

Brent had a way of making everyone around him feel seen and special. He would do anything for his friends and worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful life for his family. Brent had a smile and energy that could light up a room; he could talk and connect with anyone. Brent lived his life with an abundance of hard work, gratitude, tenacity, strength, humor, wit, passion, faith, and love. Despite the continued health challenges he faced in his final months, Brent upheld all of these traits until his last breath.

Brent was a born-again Christian, having been baptized at the age of 5. He showcased and shared his faith by the way he lived his life and the way he loved others. His faith in Christ provided him hope even in the most trying of times. Despite his diagnosis, he was never angry, and he died in peace and faith, ready to be embraced by our Holy Father.

Brent’s surviving loved ones include his mother, Sherry (Howard) Petersen of Carthage; his sister, Shelly (Baker) Jones of Carthage; his two sons: Lauden Baker and his fiancé Marriah Darnell of Joplin, Logan Baker of Joplin; their mother and Brent’s best friend; Patricia (Terry) Baker of Joplin, his daughter-figure; Marlee (Lake) Thompson and husband Aaron Thompson of Pittsburg, and his niece; Lyndsey (Jones) Clark and husband Jason Clark of Carthage with their two sons: Jaxon Clark and John Spencer Clark.

Brent was preceded in death by his father, Charles William “Bill” Baker, Jr.

Services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2020 at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the funeral home. The family asks that guests wear a mask and abide by social distancing protocols where possible.

Nola Daugherty

Nola F. Daugherty was born April 8, 1936 in Twin Falls, Idaho, one of three children to Norman and Nadine (Taylor) Ball. She entered into rest on October 30, 2020 with family at her side, following an extended illness at the age of 84. 

Nola moved to the Neosho area at the age of 9 and was a graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1954. She worked as JC Penney for fifteen years, retiring in 1988. 

 While working at JC Penney, on September 11, 1981, Nola was awarded the 'Smile of the Week' from the Neosho Area Community Betterment Council. The award was for a recognition of her friendly, courteous, helpful and thoughtful manner in dealing with visitors and customers always with a smile. 








Nola enjoyed cooking, making crafts, attending family events, traveling and going to flea markets. She had an infectious laugh and brought much joy to those around her. She was a member of the Newcomer's Club, Neosho Area Widow to Widow Group and a member of the First Baptist Church in Neosho. 

 Nola and Robert 'Bob' Daugherty were married on April 7, 1955 in Neosho and he survives. 

In addition to her husband of sixty five years, she is survived by three daughters, Debra Ann Standefer, Brenda Kay Daugherty and Vicki Jo Shullenburger and husband, James all of Neosho; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Dennis Daugherty; sister, Edna Stringert and brother, Denzil Ball.

Nancy Raney

Nancy Raney, Carthage, Missouri entered into rest October 29, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born in Poteau, Oklahoma to George Bryan and Ruth (Wells) Stephens. 

Nancy and John Raney were married June 1, 1942 in Poteau; John preceded her in death in December 1982. Nancy worked as a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed traveling and family. She was a member of First Christian Church in Neosho.





 

Nancy is survived by two children, Mike Raney and wife, Nina of Carthage, MO and Steve Raney and wife, Nedra of Salisaw, OK; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Wrenneta Brewer; one brother; and one sister.

Ray Hill

Ray Gene Hill was born October 24, 1939 in Neosho, Missouri, one of three sons to Harold Eugene 'Gene'Cot' and Sarah Janelle (Pace) Hill. He entered into rest on October 29, 2020 in Seneca, Missouri, following an extended illness at the age of 81. 

Ray Gene was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Neosho High School class of 1957. He worked for MODOT for 39 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed cattle farming, working in the hay field and NASCAR and was a member of Oakwood Christian Church. 








Ray Gene and Bobbie (Naylor) were married on November 4, 1961 in Neosho and Bobbie survives of the home. 

In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two brother, Roy Hill and wife, Eula of Neosho and Robert Hill and wife, Linda of Seneca and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Levi McGhghy

Levi Edward McGhghy was born September 27, 1983 in Neosho, the only child of Gary and Joyce (Slaton) McGhghy and entered into rest on October 29, 2020 in Joplin, following declining health at the age of 37. 

Levi was a lifelong area resident and had last worked at Downstream Casino. He was an accomplished singer and played many years in a band and enjoyed drawing and painting and was very artistic. 

He is preceded in death by his parents. 








Levi is survived by three aunts, Georgia Johnson, Iris Elliott and Michelle Hanna; one uncle, David Joe Slaton and many cousins and extended family.

Leo Lupini

Leo Lupini, age 88, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020, at Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation in Cassville.

He was born September 26, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Erminio and Elisa (Delbianco) Lupini. 

On August 1, 1959 in Detroit he was united in marriage to Shirley Rodgers, who survives. 








Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Roberson and her husband Kevin of Clarksville, Tennessee and Sheri Reynolds of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Lupini and his wife Barbara of Neosho, Missouri and Albert Lupini and his wife Cindy of Highland, Michigan; one sister, Elsie Palmer and her husband Ray of South Lyon, Michigan and five grandchildren, Mackenzie Roberson, Ethan Roberson, Janson and Kelsey Roberson, Taylor Reynolds and Brock Reynolds.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Dino Lupini and a granddaughter, Riley Reynolds.

Leo grew up and received his education in Detroit, Michigan. During the Korean War he served in the United States Army. Most of his life was spent as a self-employed contractor, building homes and specialized in ceramic tile. For several years he resided in Neosho, Missouri and moved to Eagle Rock in 1996. He was a member of All Faith United Methodist Church in Eagle Rock. His favorite pastime was raising horses.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Pastor Kevin Roberson will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time Saturday at Fohn Funeral Home.

Velma Shine

Velma May Shine, 73, Wheaton, MO entered into rest October 29, 2020. She was born April 17, 1947 in Anderson, MO to James and Alwilda (Brumley) Reynolds. 

Velma worked as a data entry person, retiring from Wal-Mart home office around 2010. 

She and Clint Shine, Sr. were married July 23, 1964; he preceded her in death. 








Velma is survived by her son, Clint Shine and wife, Teresa; three grandchildren, Latisha Fulford, Shawnta Baldwin, and Justin Shine; and two great grandchildren, Zaylee Fulford and Colt Baldwin. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheryl Thorson, and her mother, Alwilda. 

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery, Neosho, MO. Allen Schnitzler will officiate.

 

Marvin Thompson

Marvin Lee Thompson, age 73, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his home after a sudden illness.

Marvin was born October 24, 1947 in Joplin, son of the late Jessie Marvin Thompson and Eula Pansy Hannon Thompson. He attended Joplin Schools, served in the United States Army, and was a past member of the Missouri Army National Guard in Carthage and Joplin. He has lived in the Joplin, Galena area his entire life. 

He married Barbara Christine Basye in 1972. They were married for 28 years, and the couple had two children, Franklin D. and Michelle Lee.








He began his working career selling insurance, before working at several machine shops, and Miller Manufacturing Company for many years. He then worked for Farmer's Chemical as a chemist for 25 years before retiring in 2000. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Galena Fire Department for over 20 years.

He moved back to Joplin in 2000 to take care of his mother until her passing in 2011. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator, which he has enjoyed since 1987. He loved to coach his children's sports activities, from third grade through high school. He later enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting activities over the years.

Survivors include his children, Michelle Burris and husband Kirk of Galena, Frank Thompson of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Jordyn Burris, of Joplin, Jace Burris, Krissy Burris, and Kirstyn Youngblood all of Galena; his longtime friend and companion, Gladys E. Higginbotham, and her children, Krissy and Jeannie.

Memorial service will be Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Alan McCamey officiating. Interment of his ashes will be at a later date with his mother in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lurene Dickey Clay, age 86, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch.

Lurene was born September 17, 1934 in Ringgold, Louisiana, daughter of the late Doc Dickey and Rosie Lee Weathers Smith and her stepfather, Carl Smith. She grew up in Joplin, and worked for years as a self employed caregiver for individuals in the Joplin area. She was especially known for her cooking. She was a longtime member of Handy Chapel AME Church of Joplin.

In addition to her parents, Lurene was preceded in death by her husband, Alton B. Clay.








Survivors include her sons, Robert Clay and wife Janice of Antioch, Tennessee, Richard Fowler and Mark Fowler both of Joplin; grandchildren, Malorie Clay, Robbin Haynes (Chris), Mischia Jackson, Mark Fowler, II, Michael Fowler (Abigail), Alton Clay (Lisa), Annaya Clay, Chad Clay, Phillip Clay, and Sam Fowler; great-grandchildren, Jachia Sanders, Tyshawn Sanders, Brandon Jackson, Jr., Landon Aldridge, Myiah Jackson, Tiana Fowler, Liliana Fowler, and Sayer Fowler; great-great-grandchildren, Nova Felker and Nehemiah Felker.

Funeral service will be Monday, November 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Willie Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Earl Palmer, Kenny Weathers, Kevin Jackson, Monte Weathers, David Jackson, and Anthony Weathers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Jackson, William Jackson, Eugene Roscoe, Ray Foreman, and Steve Boyd.

Carole Lee Rawlins, 87 of Joplin, Missouri passed from this life on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her home with family and friends at her side.

Carole was born June 28, 1933 in Peoria, OK. After high school Carole worked as a bookkeeper for many different employers around the area. Carole was united in marriage to Herbert O. Rawlins on October 15, 1994 in Joplin, MO. They had just celebrated their 26th anniversary. Carole was a 63year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Carole is survived by her husband Herbert O. Rawlins of the home; step children, Dennis Shockley and wife Janet; sisters, Linda Boyle, Ruth Blevins, and Mary Clark; step grandson, Mark Shockley. Carole was preceded in death by 3 brothers.

Ivy Cheyenne Wimpey, 25, of Goodman, Missouri passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Ivy entered this life on January 17, 1995 to Jessie Davidson and Misty Wimpey. She grew up in the Goodman area and enjoyed spending time with her children and family. 

Ivy recently received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.








Ivy is survived by her two daughters; Brooklyn Skye Rattlif and Brynlee Wimpey of the home, her mother Misty Edward of Neosho, two brothers; Rayden Raggs and fiancé Kelsy Patrick and Elija Wimpey all of Neosho, a sister; Cerria Wimpey of Neosho, her grandparents; Gary Wimpey of Goodman and Jack and Carolyn Owens of Granby, Aunts and Uncles; Ashley McEvers of Goodman, Julie and Keith Honeyman of Goodman, Ronnie and Gena Craig of Galena, KS and Steven and Lisa Williamson of Potosi, MO as well as a host of other family and friends.

Lena Mae Fanning, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility at the age of 83.

She was born on December 15, 1936 in Lamar, MO to Dewey and Roberta (Gardner) Patterson. Lena graduated from Lockwood High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Delbert “Bud” Fanning on May 15, 1955. Lena retired from Prairie Mountain Screening as an embroidery room worker in 2012. She worked at the Lockwood Hospital for many years as a Food Service Supervisor, and received her degree to be a Dietary Technician.

Lena loved to collect Coca-Cola memorabilia. She loved to cook and was a fantastic cook of mac and cheese, her daughters favorite. Lena was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be extremely missed.








Preceding her in death were her parents, Dewey and Roberta Patterson; her husband, Bud Fanning; her son, Michael Fanning; one granddaughter, Christy Leana; and one sister-in-law, Paulette Patterson.

Survivors include four daughters, Ima Jean Probert and husband Tom, Kathy Fanning, Becky Ritchey and husband Chuck, and Tonie Probert and husband Victor; two granddaughters, Amanda Harris and husband Jeff and Hannah Shaw and husband Travis; one great-granddaughter, Blakely Shaw; five brothers, Dewey Patterson and wife Joanne, Larry Patterson and wife Janice, Teddy Patterson, Jerry Patterson and wife Carol, and Leon Patterson and wife Carol Ann; one sister, Leta Hutton and husband Harold Ray; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

James “Jim” H. Arnold, age 79, of Joplin, MO, passed away on October 29, 2020, at his home, following an illness.

Jim was born on November 18, 1940 in Joplin the son of the late John Henry and Lena (Shepard) Arnold. He has been a lifetime area resident. 

He worked as the supervisor of the printing department for St. John’s Hospital for forty-seven years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of a Bowling League, The NRA, and The Joplin Rifle and Pistol Club. He enjoyed woodworking and reading. He loved his dogs, especially “Buddy."








Jim married the love of his life. Sharron Hailey on July 10, 1981 in Joplin. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2007. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Marsha Arnold.

Jim is survived by four children, Darren Gallup and wife Kara, Lockwood, MO, Laurie Mitchell and husband Clay, Joplin, Alma Ladouceur and husband Troy, Joplin MO, and Karren Phillips and companion Jeremy Hood, Joplin, MO; fourteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A Graveside Committal of Ashes will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Clara Edgar

Clara Mae Edgar age 65 of Joplin, Missouri passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Carthage Health & Rehab. She was born on February 8, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to George K. Schumann and Jodie Helen (Baumann) Schumann. 

Clara went to McAuley Catholic High School and graduated in the class of 1973. She went on to attend Missouri Southern State College before starting work in the advertising department of the Joplin Globe, where she retired from in 2004. Clara attended St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church her whole life. 

She married Glenn E. Edgar on August 8, 1979 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2000.





 

Clara was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, JoAnn T. Broyles. 

She is survived by her son, Nathan Edgar; grandchildren, Lily Morrison, Ethan Edgar, Gunner Edgar, Hank Edgar, Mercury Edgar; cousins, Warren Augustus, Galen Augustus, Linda, Susan, and Judy. Clara has been taken for cremation and by her request no services are planned at this time.

Harrison Kash

Harrison Maxey Kash, age 89, Webb City, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Harrison was born December 23, 1930 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, son of the late Oliver Willet Kash and Velma Ann Tipton Kash. He lost his mother at a young age, and was reared by his grandparents, Edmond and Kate Tipton, who took him into their home in 1936. 

He attended Eugene Field grade school. Later he lived with his father in Pittsburg where he graduated from Pittsburg High School. He earned a bachelors degree from Pittsburg State University. Harrison was in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He received his Masters Degree in Chemistry from Kansas State University.








His first job after college was as a research chemist in Chicago, Ill. Harrison was a people person and said the lab equipment couldn’t talk to him so he returned to Webb City and became a chemistry professor. He worked for Missouri Southern State University from 1958 until retiring in 1997.

One thing Harrison missed from Chicago was international films. In 1962, he started the International Film Society at MSSU to share his love of film with others. Later that film society was renamed the Harrison and June Kash International Film Society.

Harrison and June Morey were married August 8,1959. His son Paul was born in 1960. The family lived in the same house where Harrison was raised by his grandparents. They were helpful to any neighbor in need, especially elderly neighbors.

Harrison had a great sense of humor. He loved puns and reading the comics in the Joplin “Glob”. His laugh was infectious and will be missed by many.

Harrison also appreciated great architecture especially buildings that were made “solid”, like the Gryphon building. He also did a lot of work on his own home making it solid, as well. Another interest of Harrison’s was classical music.

In addition to his parents, and grandparents, Harrison was preceded in death by his wife, June Kash who passed in 2012, and his son, Paul Kash who passed in 2014.

A Celebration of Harrison's life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Danny Butler


Daniel “Danny” Butler, 65 of Arlington, TX. passed away Friday, October 16th, 2020 due to complications of ALS. 

Danny was born January 1, 1955 in Rangely, CO. Danny grew up in Wyandotte, OK. and was a 1973 WHS graduate. 

In 1991 Danny married the love of his life Gaylynn “Lynn” Butler and moved to Sierra Vista, AZ. to pursue a career in construction. Danny loved to travel and was very involved in animal rescue and several local charities. Danny adored his family and cherished every moment he was able to spend with his kids and grandkids. 








Danny is preceded in death by his father Billy Gene Butler and brothers Billy and Donny Butler. 

He is survived by his wife Lynn Butler of the home, children Matt VanHoose and wife Ayako of Arlington, TX., Ryan Butler, Cody Butler and wife Aurora, and Lacy Butler and significant other Rustin all of Joplin, MO. Mother Ruth Butler of Miami, OK. Brothers Robert “Bob” Butler of Joplin, MO. and Dale Condit and wife Marsha of Mesquite, NV. 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Martin Porter

Martin Taylor Porter Sr., 96, of Lamar, MO passed away on Monday October 26, 2020 at Parkview Healthcare in Bolivar, MO. He was born February 17, 1924 in Christian County, MO to William and Amanda (Abney) Porter. 

Martin was the youngest of seven children. He enjoyed life as a farm kid, surrounded by hound dogs, sheep, and hogs. He fished in a nearby creek and killed his first squirrel with a muzzle loaded rifle at the age of ten. 

He married Alice Z. Evert on May 21, 1944. He then joined the Army where he served from September 12, 1944 to April 18, 1946 as a 1st Cavalry Rifleman in the Pacific in both the Philippines and Japan and took part in the Liberation of Luzon, Philippines of the occupying forces of Japan.






 

After Army service he took his wife and son Martin Jr. to farm and do clerical work in Kansas and Missouri. Another son Kenneth was born while in Missouri. Martin worked for Charlie Flag Motors, the Buick Agency in Lamar, MO and then owned a body shop in Golden City from 1964 to 1993. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #1850 which is now #3691 and was the District 7 Commander from 1987 to 1988. 

Martin is survived by his wife, Alice, two sons; Martin (Linda) Porter Jr. of Bolivar, MO and Kenneth (Rebecca) Porter of Galena, KS, 5 grandchildren Tony Porter, John Porter, Randy Porter, Tina Frates, and Kathy Banuelos, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. 

Donations in lieu of flowers can be given to VFW 3691. There will be a visitation on Friday October 30, 2020 at 10 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Rogersville, MO.

Marvin Frost

Marvin W. Frost, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Carthage Health & Rehab. Marvin was born May 22, 1936 in Carthage to Walter and Nellie “Turner” Frost. 

He was a lifetime resident of Carthage, served in the United States Army in Germany for two years, worked at Atlas / ICI for over 40 years, sold insurance for Jasper County Mutual and was a bus driver for the Carthage R9 School District. 


Marvin was actively involved in the Carthage Masonic Lodge #197 AM/FM, he was a Past Patron of Eminence Chapter #93 Order of the Eastern Star, a Past Supreme Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth, a Past Royal Patron of Praying Hands Court #15 Order of the Amaranth in Webb City, a Past Grand Commander of Commandry of the York Rite of Joplin and Carthage, a member KCCH of Scottish Rite in Joplin, a Past Watchman of Shepherds of the Azotus Shrine #5 White Shrine of Jerusalem of Joplin, and a member of the Abou Ben Adham Shriners in Springfield. He was a long time member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in Carthage.







Marvin was united in marriage to Dottie LeMasters on August 10, 1958 at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church; she preceded him in death on January 5, 2018.

Marvin is survived by one son, Randy Frost (Sharon) of Carthage; one daughter, Jan Johnson of Carthage; two sisters, Carolyn Johannes of Carthage and Dorothy Shull of Carthage; five grandchildren, Peter Frost, Kelsey Webb (Nathan), Jennifer Nord (Nathaniel), Steven Juris (Britney) and Amber Lombard (Caleb); 11 great grandchildren, Elijah, Hailey, Jazzi, Kaimen, Kassius, Russell, Kastiel, Harrison, Tucker, Ireland and Kodi, with one on the way.

Marvin was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Frost; two sisters, Ellen Wilson and Lucille Timms.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home, with Masonic Rites beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home, beginning with the Amaranth Funeral Service. Esther “Sunny” Welch, 77, passed away October 26, 2020. Sunny was born January 3, 1943 in Memphis, TN to Albert “Pa” Holley and Wilma “Ferguson” Holley. 

She came to Carthage about three years ago from the Dallas, TX area after 50 years. She was a school teacher and taught 4th grade for 17 years; she was Teacher of the Year for seven years. Sunny was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Carthage.

Sunny was united in marriage to Bill Welch on July 13, 1962 in Carthage; he survives.








Sunny is also survived by one daughter, Robin R. Trammell (Bird) of Wiley, TX; two sons, Chris L. Welch (Anna) of Dallas, TX and Jeff J. Welch (Arzu) of Herndon, VA; four grandchildren, Jessica Coker, Sarah Welch, Allison Welch, and Jarrett Jones; two great grandchildren, Jayci Coker and William J. Coker; two sisters, Sheila Alsup of Decatur, AL and Suzy Peterson of Fresno, CA; one brother, Jim Holly of Memphis, TN.

Sunny was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nancy Horton and Mary Dubbs; and one brother, Kenneth R. Holly.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at Fullerton Cemetery, south of Carthage.

Rosemary Willard, 88, passed away Oct. 25, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. 

She was a lifelong Roman Catholic and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. Rosemary was born Sept. 9, 1932 to Loretta C. O’Malley.

Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Jean O’Malley; and two infant siblings.








Surviving are six children, Juliana (Jack) Brixey, Mary (Terry) Guinn, Josetta (Bill) Bayless, Melinda (Dewayne) Dever, Harold (Roxanne) Willard, and Johna Dixon; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Joseph O’Malley, his family; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends at Ulmer Funeral Home 6-7 p.m. Wednesday October 28, 2020 with a rosary to immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.

A mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, Kansas, With Fathers Rahab Isidor and Jeremy Huser officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery.

Alice Townsend

Alice Townsend, 64, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020 at her home in Diamond, MO. Alice was born April 14, 1956 in Springfield, MO to Troy Compton and Leona Lindsay. 

Alice was a homemaker, with a degree in interior design, which was her passion. She also enjoyed fishing, animals and mowing.

Alice lived with Rick Stephens as husband and wife for 14 years; he survives.








Alice is also survived by two daughters, Amanda McIntyre (James) of Independence, MO and Mae Tate (Brad) of Ava, MO; two brothers, Troy Lee “Bubby” Compton and Larry Compton; one sister, Linda Heilaman, all of Springfield, MO; five grandchildren, Audrey, Jameson, Braydon “Buster”, Devin and Sierra.

James “Jim” C. Leslie, 85, passed away October 19, 2020 at St. Luke’s Nursing home in Carthage. Jim was born June 29, 1935 in Washington, IA to Floyd and Ruth Lloyd Leslie. 

He moved to Carthage in 1999 from Green Forest, AR. He was a meat cutter by trade, and was employed for 30 years by Consumers, Bob’s IGA and several others.

Jim was united in marriage to Velma Ruth Utter January 25, 1965 in Vinita, OK; she preceded him death in 2005.







Jim is survived by five sons, David Leslie, Brian Leslie, Bobby Leslie, James Leslie and Greg Leslie; one daughter, Ellen Heather; one sister, Rose Mahonney in Arizona.

Jim’s body was taken for cremation. A family gathering will be held at a later date.

Roy Slaughter

Roy Lee Slaughter was born January 19, 1956 in Licking, Missouri, the son of Troy Alfred and Dema (Lynn) Slaughter. He entered into rest on October 27, 2020 in Joplin, following an extended illness at the age of 64. 

Roy was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Webb City High School. He worked in the trucking industry as a diesel mechanic, retiring from CFI. He enjoyed farming, Cardinal baseball and spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith. 

Roy married Kathy Denise Carpenter on January 18, 1985 in Miami, Oklahoma and she survives.







 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Michael Slaughter and wife, Amber of Wylie, Texas, Ronnie Garrett and wife, Valerie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Casey Slaughter and wife, Claire of Spring Creek, Nevada and Maddie Weston and husband, Cody of Silver Springs, Maryland; one brother, Randy Slaughter and wife, Nancy of Joplin; two sisters, Diane Zacarello of Webb City and Sandra Hager and husband, Miles of Bellview, Nebraska; aunt, Ina Tucker of Carl Junction and six grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Kelly Hornback. 

Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 10 am at Oakwood Cemetery with his son, Michael Slaughter officiating. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation Sunday from 3 pm – 5 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Aaron Maine

Aaron Scott Maine, 40, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Cox South in Springfield, MO. Aaron was born August 8, 1980 in Dunedin, FL to Ottis E. and Sandra L. (Maxson) Maine.

Aaron grew up in Florida and graduated from River Ridge High School in New Port Richey, FL. In 2004, Aaron moved to Nevada where he worked in various capacities of law enforcement including the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, security, AAA Bail Bonds, Bailiff at the Vernon County Courthouse, and as a bounty hunter. 

Aaron was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved to read – especially history, and also loved to cook. 






 

Survivors include his mother, Sandra L. Nesseth, Nevada, MO; one sister, Sonya Rusher (Elmer), Pineville, MO; niece, Britany Rogers (Michael); nephew, Caleb Rogers (Sarah), Pineville, MO; great-nephews, Zachary, Bentley, and Westley Rogers, and Dylan Gubert; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many special friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Bert Travis officiating.

Lonnie Beisley

Lonnie Ray Beisley, 49, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Medicalodges of Nevada, Missouri from his courageous battle with ALS. Lonnie was born November 18, 1970 in Nevada to Herbert N. and Bonnie L. (Milligan) Beisley.

Lonnie grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1989. He worked most of his life in the Vernon County area, having worked for a time at Guthrie Motors, and was a truck driver for several years. He traveled the United States for a period of time with Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Fishing Tournaments. 

Most recently he worked at Mark Peterson Farms in Liberal for a number of years before retiring in 2018 due to his illness. Lonnie was a huge Pittsburg Steelers fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, collecting Dale Earnhardt Memorabilia, hunting and especially spending time with his family.








Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Beisley, Sheldon, MO; two sisters, Terri Starbuck (Bruce Hamlett), Milo, MO, and Cindi Louderback (Kelly), Lamar, MO; two brothers, Scott Beisley (Sally), Harwood, MO, and Russell Beisley (Lesley), Sheldon, MO; one daughter, Samantha Karnes, Oklahoma, and one step-daughter, Aerial Lingenfelser; three grandchildren, Leon, A.J. and Emma; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert N. Beisley; a brother, Mark G. Beisley; a sister, Rebecca S. Beisley; a granddaughter, Eleyna Lingenfelser and a niece, Shyla Brannan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Chaplain Kenny Batson officiating. Interment will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery in Milo, MO with Bob Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to Peterson Outdoor Ministries, Lodge of Hope c/o Ferry Funeral Home. This organization was very dear to Lonnie’s heart.

Gene Hagins

Milton Eugene Hagins, age 62, of Lamar , MO passed away October 27, 2020, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.

Gene was born July 4, 1958 in Lamar, MO to Linville Bryant and Mary Ethel (Robinson) Hagins. He graduated from Lockwood High School in the class of 1977. On June 15, 1979, Gene married Beverly Jo Rea at Forest Grove Baptist Church, in Lamar, MO.

Gene worked for Thorco Industries for 40 years and had worked at Stanley Milling for the past three years. He also owned and operated Gene's Lawn Care Service for eight years, which included servicing and repairing other people's lawnmowers and weedeaters.






 

He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan of baseball, basketball but his passion was football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. He always looked forward to deer season, so he could spend special time with family. Gene helped with anything and everything at the First Christian Church, which included helping his wife with the three to five year old children in the Bible Bees class.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years; one son, Jonathan Lee (Kimberlee) Hagins, Lamar, MO; one daughter, Amanda Lou (Josh) Blanchard, Lamar, MO; one brother, Lonnie (Pat) Hagins, Cassville, MO; one sister, Linda Lou Hagins, Lamar, MO; one sister in law, Linda Arlene Hagins; six grandchildren, Auri Blanchard, Shadol Blanchard, Kayne Blanchard, Malia Blanchard, Taralee Hagins, and Grayson Hagins; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Gene in death were his parents and two brothers, Larry Bryant Hagins and Linville Lee Hagins.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Daniel Funeral Home with visitation following the service. A private family burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery

Carl Morgan

Carl E. Morgan, age 79 of Diamond, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020, while listening to the Kansas City Chiefs game with his daughter. He was born November 13, 1940, in Granby, Missouri, the son of the late Alva Edward and Edna Faye (Grieb) Morgan.

He was a lifelong resident of the area and retired from Missouri American Water after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, watching sports, and spending time with his grandchildren, who called him “Papa.”

He married Kay Smith on June 27, 1959 and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2012. 








Carl was also preceded in death by one brother, Bob Morgan and one sister, Kay Link.

Carl is survived by two sons, Tony Morgan and wife Becky, Afton, Oklahoma, Mark Morgan and wife Patty, Diamond, Missouri; one daughter, Melissa Morgan, Diamond, Missouri; three brothers, Wayne Morgan, of Diamond, Raymond Morgan, of Kansas City, and Mike Morgan, of Joplin; seven grandchildren, Matthew Morgan and wife Jessica, Jena Chacko and husband David, Krystal Frossard and husband Justin, Amber Ball and husband Austin, T.J. McDonald and girlfriend Nicole, Cody McDonald and wife Kobee, and Morgan McDonald; seven great-grandchildren, Emma Martin, Jocelyn Morgan, Kinsley Chacko, Christian Chacko, Oliver Frossard, Taylynn McDonald, and Adara Ball due in December, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday November 9, 2020 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel with Chris Sloan officiating. Burial will follow at Stone Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3:00-4:00pm Sunday at the mortuary.

Dennis Walkup

September 2, 1947 to October 27, 2020

Dennis Carlton Walkup passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 with his wife by his side

Dennis was born in Webb City, Mo to the late Carl and Virginia (Byrd) Walkup. Dennis was a lifetime area resident. 

On January 12, 1974 Dennis was united in marriage to Kathy Williams. To this union two children were born, Patrick and Allison. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. 








Dennis had a great sense of humor and loved helping others. He worked for the department of mental of health where he began his career as a social worker. He retired from the state after 32 years of service as a service coordinator. After his work with the state, Dennis began his special education teaching career. 

At Joplin South Middle School, Dennis taught History. He loved history and on the last day of school he would dress up in Civil War reenactment clothing. He loved being involved in the Civil War reenactment.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother in law Larry Huggins. He is survived by his wife Kathy Walkup of Joplin, Mo., son Patrick Walkup of Kansas City, Mo., daughter Allison Wiggans of Branson, Mo., granddaughter Alyssa Wiggans, and sister Sharon Walkup-Huggins of Kansas City, Mo.

A private family service has been scheduled for Dennis. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial contributions to be given to the ALS association in care of the mortuary.

Rhonda McDowell

Rhonda Jean McDowell, 54, of Branson MO, passed away on Saturday, October 26th, 2020.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 7pm Thursday, October 29th at Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca, MO.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30th at 10am at the Modoc Gathering Building in Wyandotte OK, with Minister Joshua Frakes of Seneca Christian Church officiating.

Burial will be in the Modoc Indian Cemetery with Mike McDowell, Tabitha Crawford, Ben Crawford, Casey McDowell, Alex McDowell and Jonas Crawford serving as pallbearers.








Rhonda was born in Joplin MO to Ronald and Ramona Rosiere on March 5th, 1966. She was a member of the Modoc Nation, Native American tribe of Oklahoma and she went to school in Wyandotte, OK. She married Michael McDowell on May 5th 1984, at the Modoc Church. She worked in the Restaurant Industry most of her life, loved being outdoors and being with her loved ones.

Rhonda is preceded in death by her father Ronald, and her grandmother Betty Rosiere.

Rhonda is survived by her Husband of 36 years, Michael McDowell, her four children; Mike McDowell and wife, Misty, of Miami, OK, Tabitha Crawford and husband Ben, of Miami, OK, Casey McDowell and wife Erin, of Miami, OK, and Alex McDowell of Miami, OK, her mother Ramona Rosiere of Joplin, MO, her three sisters; Gina McGaughey and husband Brad of Owasso, OK, Leslie Hall and husband Sloan, of Kingswood, TX, and Mona Craven and husband Danny, of Joplin, Mo, and 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Bruce Rardin

Bruce Wayne Rardin, 61 of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed from this life on Monday, October 19, 2020 after a medical emergency caused him to have a motor vehicle accident.

Bruce worked as a mechanic for Weston Automotive in Baxter Springs, KS, and assembled race car engines for Russell Baker Racing Engines in Miami, and more currently for Hatfield Racing Engines in Joplin, MO. He was a guy that would do anything for anyone and loved cars since he was a child. 

Bruce was known for his ’67 Chevelle Super Sport which he bought at age 14, which eventually became the loudest and fastest car in five counties. He finished rebuilding his Chevelle this July after working on and off for over 20 years trying to make it go faster. It was his lifelong goal to restore it to former glory.







Bruce was born July 25, 1959 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the union of Albert Dewayne and Judy Karen (Bolin) Rardin. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Judy Wilson and Dewayne Rardin; maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Homer Bolin; paternal grandparents, Earnest and Esther Rardin.

Bruce is survived by his brother, Brian Rardin and Michael Tidd of New York, NY; uncles, Freddie Bolin and wife Shirlene, Donnie Bolin, and Steve Bolin and wife Laurie; aunts, Nancy Preddy and husband Leonard, Joyce Blizzard and husband Bob, and Roberta Metzger and husband Jay, along with numerous cousins.

Memorial graveside service will be at the Baxter Springs Cemetery Friday, October 30th at 3pm. There will be a hotrod car processional down Military Avenue ending at the cemetery prior to the service.
