Nick Giberti

James Nicholas ‘Nick’ Giberti, age 75, of Anderson, Missouri passed away October 30, 2020. Nick was born September 20, 1945 to John J. Giberti and M. Jeraldine Lett, in Neosho, Missouri. 

Nick grew up in the Split Log area outside of Anderson and attended McDonald County High School. Nick joined the United States Navy on April 16, 1963 and served as an Engineman 3rd Class. Nick was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Suribachi (AE-21), the U.S.S. Atakapa (ATF-149), and the U.S.S. Georgetown (AGTR-2). 

The U.S.S. Suribachi served as an ammunition ship off the coast of South Vietnam. The U.S.S. Atakapa was a fleet tug and served in the Caribbean and towed the U.S.S. Oakridge to Rota, Spain, then on the way back to the States was diverted and had to escort an LST to Bermuda. The U.S.S. Georgetown served off the coast of Cuba gathering intelligence. Nick was a 3rd degree Mason and was a retired Pipe Fitter, Local 658.






 

Nick and Joyce Fay (Buzzard) Giberti were married May 12, 1965 in Carthage, Missouri. 

Nick is survived by his wife, Joyce Giberti of the home; and three children, son, Traven Giberti and wife, Kay of Neosho, Missouri, daughter, Angie Gonzalez and husband, Tony of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, and son, Darby Giberti and wife, Stephanie of Seneca, Missouri. He is also survived by one sister, Leah; one brother, Allen; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jeraldine; and two brothers, John Jr. and Tim Giberti.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later time.
