Kathy Miller

Kathryn “Kathy” Louise Miller, 75, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 surrounded by loving family.

Kathy was born November 23, 1945 in Long Beach, California to the late Paul Barton and Gladys (O’Neal) Edens. Kathy worked for over 35 years at LaBarge in Joplin, Missouri before retiring in 2007.

On June 27, 1964 she was united in marriage to Charles Leroy Miller at Empire Union Mission Church in Galena, Kansas. They had three children, Douglas, Lucinda and Wesley. Together they shared 57 precious years before her passing.








Kathy was of the Pentecostal faith. She was the oldest of her siblings and given the nickname “Sarge.” by her father. Kathy worked side by side with Charles at their farm tending to the animals and chores with great care. She loved the Fourth of July, traveling and watching her boys and grandchildren play baseball or dance, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathy cherished the memories created with her family and friends. Kathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her three children, Douglas Leroy Miller, Lucinda Jeannise Miller and Wesley Scott Miller.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Charles; grandchildren, Jordan Miller and wife, Hannah, Hali Brook Scharenberg and husband, Matthew, Joshua Miller; great grandchildren, Hadley Scharenberg and Braylee Scharenberg; daughter-in-law, Titia (Miller) Kersh; siblings, Marilyn Sue Hartman and husband, Chris, Brenda Wilton and husband, Rick, Paul D. Edens; fur baby, Minnie mouse; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Diamond Cemetery, with John Watson officiating.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Kathy, donations may be made to Children’s Mercy Kansas City, the in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
