Mary Magee

Mrs. Mary Alice Magee, 81, of Goodman, Missouri, departed this life on Friday afternoon, December 8, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, after months of declining health. 

Mary entered this life on January 26, 1936, in Anderson, Missouri, daughter of the late Howard and Jessie (Miller) Leuellen. She was raised in Anderson and was a lifelong area resident. On January 11, 1964, she was united in marriage to James “Jay” Magee and together they shared twenty-nine years before his passing on November 30, 1993. Mary worked hard throughout her life. She was employed by Miller Manufacturing in Granby, Big Smith in Neosho and the Neosho IGA. She retired in 2016 at the age of 80, from Medicalodge in Neosho, where she served as Activities Director. She was a talented quilter and seamstress and was a member of the TrinityFull Gospel Church in Goodman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay Magee; and a brother, Joe Leuellen.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Debera Stites and husband, Lonnie, of Neosho; three grandchildren, Machelle Day of Anderson, Bub Stites of Anderson and Jeff Stites of Neosho; nine great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Gracie Gowdy of Calico Rock, Arkansas and Glenda Oswald of Pineville; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Magee are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in the Goodman Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Pat Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Austin Stites, Josh Stites, Steven Scott, Dennis Day, Jason Williams and Nick Land. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the Trinity Full Gospel Church c/o/ the funeral home.
