Bobby Crabtree

(From Midland Cremation Society)

Bobby Gene Crabtree, 73 of Quapaw, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at Freeman Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

Bobby was born April 20th, 1951 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to the union of David and Jackie (Ferris) Crabtree. Bobby was united in marriage to Brenda Marie Crabtree on March 29, 1983 in Miami, OK.

Bobby worked for International Paper Company as a mechanic in Joplin, MO, retiring in 2006. Bobby then traveled with Brenda, as she continued to work as travel nurse until 2012. Bobby enjoyed fishing, hunting, had been a member of the NRA, and held a lifetime hunting and fishing license, and when the spoonbill were running he was at the river, riding motorcycles (when he was much younger), watching old western movies, Godzilla, and was an avid Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, and Clint Eastwood fan.

Bobby was notorious for collecting aluminum cans, getting excited when finding what he called "a honey hole " aka party spot where kids had left a plethora of cans. Bobby enjoyed being outside, going skating, swimming, and teaching simple life lessons to those he loved. Bobby never seemed to meet a stranger, and even though he was a man of few words, people seemed to be attracted to his kind soul and loving heart. Bobby loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandkids and great-grand kids. Our "Poppie", was the kindest, sweetest soul of anyone any of us knew.

Bobby is preceded in death by his wife Brenda Crabtree; sister, Vicky Briggs(Claude); father; David Crabtree and mother; Jackie Crabtree.

Bobby is survived by daughters, Angela Herd of Carl Junction, MO; Brandi Crabtree (Ray) of Quapaw; Amanda Crabtree (Scotty) of Baxter Springs, KS; He lovingly and proudly became "Poppie" to Samantha Giron Najera (Nelson), Jonathan Cook (Alexis), Emily, Wyatt, and Carter Grassold, Olivia, Henry and Timothy Hughes, great-grand children; Addison Beebe, Ramsey Bailey, Oliver Giron Najera, Jackson Cook and Karson Wilmoth.

Bobby is also survived by his brother Gerald (Glenda) Crabtree, Cherokee, KS.

The loss of Poppie will by far be one of the toughest things our family has faced. While Ninny was the glue, Poppie was the glue gun. We are at peace knowing they are together once again.

Celebration of life for Bobby will be on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at 11 am at The New Day UPC, 607 N. Main St. Rd, North Miami, OK. A dinner for family and friends is planned for following the service at the dining hall at the church.
