Cindy Atteberry

(From Parker Mortuary)

Cynthia Ann Atteberry, “Cindy” passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 70, in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on July 7, 1954, to the late Riley and Roberta Parrish.

Cindy's journey began in Joplin, where she grew into a remarkable woman whose love, warmth, generosity, smile, and laugh touched all who knew her. She was a beloved mother to her children, Michael Burke (Vickie) and Marissa Atteberry (Brittany), and a cherished grandmother to Ashley and Emily Burke. Cindy's love reached to all of her extended family members. Her family was the cornerstone of her life and she nurtured each relationship with care and affection.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Curtis Atteberry and her sisters, Kay Laswell and Lana Brown, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.

Professionally, Cindy was a respected figure in the Joplin community. As President of the Joplin Metro Credit Union, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to service to her community supporting the Children’s Miracle Network. Her involvement with the Chamber of Commerce in Carl Junction, Webb City Cares, and volunteering at Mark Twain Elementary for Grandparents Day for those kids that didn’t have grandparents further showcased her passion for fostering strong community and love of people.

She relished vacations, where she could explore new places and create lasting memories with her family. Cindy's love for family gatherings was evident in the laughter and love that filled the room whenever she hosted. She was the life of the party whether it was doing her chicken dance, singing the wrong words to her favorite songs, or telling jokes. Cindy was always the loudest fan in the stands for her kids and grandkids during their sports, cheer, and dance activities. Shopping trips, lunches out with friends, and tending to her plants and garden were among the simple pleasures she enjoyed. Her fondness for her dogs was well-known, and her furry companions were a source of great happiness.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, MO.

Arrangements are under the care of Parker Mortuary.

Celebration of life will be held at Michael and Vickie’s house at 718 Briarbrook Drive, Carl Junction MO, following the services for those that would like to share a few more stories and laughs with the family.
