Harvey Atkins

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Harvey F. Atkins, 79, left this life at his home on February 15th, 2025. Born on April 23, 1945, in Clovis, New Mexico, Harvey lived a quiet life in his last years, but in earlier days, he lived a more complex life, one marked by his dedication and passion for the outdoors. He could name just about every plant and tree he encountered.

Growing up in New Mexico, Harvey developed a love for baseball, playing throughout his school years. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the rank of Sergeant E5 and received an honorable discharge. Harvey’s bond with the land was lifelong, and he treasured his time working on his family’s ranch, often riding horses, roping cattle, and branding.

After his military service, Harvey pursued higher education, earning a degree in Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University. He worked various roles in Roswell and Pueblo, CO, before finding love for the land banking industry. Harvey served as president of a land bank in Guymon, OK, for several years, and later moved to Clovis, NM, to continue his work in the field. When his company merged with another, he relocated to Arkansas, where he transitioned into a role at Walmart.

Seeking a new chapter, Harvey moved to Noel, Missouri, where he followed his passion for business by opening "Cedar Crest Cafe." As both chef and owner, Harvey poured his heart into the cafe, running the business with love and dedication. The restaurant became a beloved local staple, and he operated it for many years until he retired and sold the business.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ruby Atkins; his first wife, Jill Jean Atkins; his son, Michael Todd Atkins; his second wife, Billie Jean Atkins; and his brother, Barrett Atkins.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Amy Coenen, and son-in-law, Don Coenen; his granddaughter, Emily Townsend-Pierce, and son-in-law, Joshua Pierce; his granddaughter, Molly Dickard and son-in-law Braden Dickard and their first child, Jill Jean, who will be born in June; his sister, Rita Cibak; and his brother, Jack Atkins. Harvey will be remembered for his dedication, his work ethic, and his passions.

He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
