(By Heartland Cremation and Burial Society)Laurie Lee (Leffingwell) Slimane, born November 7, 1953, in Neosho, MO, passed away February 12, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Laurie was a beloved figure, known for her infectious smile, deep love for theater, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1971, earning the Betty Crocker Scholarship, and went on to attend KU in Lawrence, KS, and St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS.
Her community involvement included working concession stands at Chiefs and Royals games; selling hamburgers with the Girl Scouts at Santa Cal-A-Gon Days; attending her children's sporting events; and cooking for the William Chrisman High School varsity football team for five years starting in 1996
Laurie's homemade cinnamon rolls for fundraisers at William Chrisman High will be fondly remembered by many.
She is survived by her three children: Elizabeth Stout (wife Lori Stout), Patrick Slimane (wife Anna Slimane), and Katie Chavez (husband Tristin Chavez); five grandchildren: Dillon Reed (wife Abby Reed), Chance Love, Edmond Slimane, Jackson Slimane, and Leana Slimane; two great-grandchildren: Amelia Reed and Opal Reed; her five grand-dogs; her sisters: Karen Tanner, Susan Johnston, and Darlene Schneiderman; brothers: Gary Randall and Donald Leffingwell and several nieces and nephews.
Laurie was graciously met with open arms by those who preceded her: her husband Edmond Slimane; son-in-law Brandon Wallace; grand-dog Cooper Wallace; mother Jacqueline Leffingwell; father Philip Leffingwell; and brother Michael Leffingwell.
Laurie will always be deeply loved and missed by all her family and friends. To honor her wishes, her family will announce a celebration of her life at a later date.
