Wayne Kimbrough

(From Parker Mortuary)

Donald Wayne Kimbrough, known affectionately as Wayne, age 74, of Diamond, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025, after a recent decline in health. He entered this life on August 10, 1950, in Neosho, Missouri, the only son born to the union of Howard and Sylvia (Henry) Kimbrough.

Wayne's journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit and infectious humor. He departed this world at Wildwood Care Facility in Joplin, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, hard work, and cherished memories.

Wayne was a 1968 graduate of Diamond High School and a lifelong resident of Diamond, Missouri. His commitment to his country was evident through his six years of service in the Army National Guard, a period of his life that instilled in him values of discipline and dedication. He was respected member of the agricultural community as a longtime dairy farmer. His love for the land and the animals was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina Kimbrough and wife, Kimberli, of Joplin, Missouri; a stepdaughter, Cyndy Bailey of Sarcoxie, Missouri; two grandsons, Canyon Kimbrough and Aaron Bailey; a sister, Patty Palmer of Diamond, Missouri; a nephew, Cody Palmer and wife, Morgan; a niece, Rachel Palmer; four great nephews; and two great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Naomi June Kimbrough on April 30, 2024; a sister, Marcia Kimbrough; and a stepson, Barry Bailey.

An avid sports fan, Wayne's enthusiasm for the game was infectious. Whether it was cheering from the stands or recounting the highlights at the dinner table, his passion for sports was a vital part of who he was. His grandsons' basketball games were a particular source of joy.

Wayne's personality was larger than life. Known for being ornery and funny, he had a knack for storytelling that could light up any room. His jokes, often accompanied by a mischievous twinkle in his eye, were a testament to his sense of humor and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His hardworking nature was evident to all who knew him, as was his sweet tooth, which he never tried to hide. Those who knew Wayne will remember him as a man who could find the funny in the mundane, the silver lining in every cloud, and the perfect punchline for any occasion.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
