(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)John Francis Fix, age 93 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation. John was born October 22, 1931 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Charles and June (Mitchell) Fix.
John graduated from high school in Seneca, Missouri with the class of 1950. Shortly after graduation, John enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War before honorably discharged. After returning home, John went to work for the United States Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier for over 35 years before retiring.
John was a member of the National Letter Carriers Union and Milk Glass Collectors Society. Another passion of John’s was collecting antique coffee grinders.
John married Irene ‘Barbara’ Taylor on August 2 ,1958 in Joplin and they spent over 50 years together before her passing in 2012. Additionally, John was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Rader and brother in-law, Darrell Taylor.
Those left to mourn his loss include in-laws, Dr. Kent Taylor (Marilyn) of Joplin and Geraldine Taylor of Fayetteville, Arkansas; nieces and nephews, Kent Taylor (Amy) Little Rock, Arkansas, Lacey Bingaman (James) Fayetteville, Arkansas, John Z. Taylor (Vinala) Forney, Texas, Matthew E. Taylor (Daisey) of Atlanta, Georgia; plus several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. Burial will take place at a later time at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
