(From Parker Mortuary)Carolyn Fay Beck, age 85 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Carolyn was born October 21, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph and Clara (Randall) Hyman.
Carolyn graduated from Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Soon after, she married James Beck on September 3, 1961 in Paramus, NJ. They moved to Missouri and after being a stay-at-home mom, Carolyn began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone where she worked in both the Sedalia and Joplin area in the customer service department. In 2005, Carolyn retired from Leggett and Platt after 11 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Galena, Kansas until her health kept her from faithfully attending.
Carolyn loved to read and spent many hours in the public library. She was active in the Republic Senior Center and throughout the years volunteered at many organizations throughout the Joplin area.
Those left to mourn her passing include her husband, James of the home in Republic, Missouri; sons, Joel Beck (Amy) of Webb City and Jason Beck (Tracy) of Port Orange, Florida; daughters, Deborah McComb (Huston) of Pearland, Texas and Carrie Key (James) of Republic; a sister, Harriet Alonso (Victor) of Bronx, New York; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
Other than her parents, Carolyn in preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Murden.
Funeral services are planned for Monday, September 29, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary with visitation from 1:00 p.m. to service time. Entombment will take place at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin following the service.
