(From Ozark Funeral Home)Daniel Foster Boyer, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at Solace House in Joplin, MO, on September 15, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on July 16, 1950, in Anderson, MO, he was a man who lived a full life, marked by dedication to his family and service to his country.
Daniel married the love of his life, Nellie Ann Cash, on March 21, 1986, in Miami, Oklahoma. Their partnership was a testament to mutual love and respect, and Nellie remains to cherish his memory. Together, they raised a vibrant family that includes six children: Frances Fairman (Dennis) of Vinita, OK, Rebecca Carver (Jimmy) of Miami, OK, Sam Smith of Goodman, MO, Lisa Smith of Goodman, MO, Angie Smith of Anderson, MO, and Terry Smith of Bowling Green, MO. His legacy is further carried on by his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss his warmth and guidance.
Daniel was a pillar of strength and love to his three siblings, George Boyer (Rhonda) of Marshall, MO, Jessie Eggleston (Geoff) of Anderson, MO, and Joe Boyer of Goodman, MO. They, along with the rest of the family, remember him as a beacon of kindness and selflessness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Clara (Huddleston) Boyer; his brothers, Donald Boyer, Bruce Huddleston, and Guy Boyer; his sisters, Faye Overman and Jane Boyer; and his cherished grandchildren, Skyler Fairman and Erica Smith. Each of these losses was a profound moment in Daniel's life, and he carried the memory of his loved ones with grace and fortitude.
Daniel's career was marked by an unwavering commitment to service. He retired from the National Guard 203rd Engineer Battalion after 42 years of honorable service. His dedication to duty and country was an inspiration to many and set an exemplary model of patriotism and courage.
Beyond his military service, Daniel was a man of the outdoors. He found solace and joy in hunting and fishing, activities that not only brought him peace but also allowed him moments of bonding with family and friends. His love for horses was well-known, and he spent many happy hours caring for and riding them.
Those who knew Daniel will remember him as a loving and kind individual. His selfless nature was evident in every aspect of his life, from his devotion to his family to his commitment to his country. He was a man who put others before himself and did so with a gentle smile and a generous heart.
Funeral services for Daniel will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 19, 2025 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral home. Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Goodman, MO. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.
