Lora Hicks

Lora Ann (Madison) Hicks, 61, of Joplin, Missouri, went home to be with the lord on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Lora was born August 31, 1964 to Jiggs Madison and Marcia (Ross) Madison. Lora was a class of 1983 graduate of Carl Junction High School. Lora went into nursing and worked at various nursing homes, before working for St. John’s Hospital. Lora began working in Home Healthcare, before medically retiring in 2001.








Lora married the love of her life and soulmate, John Hicks, on February 14, 1986. Lora enjoyed fishing, bird watching, drawing, woodworking, leather working, and anything outside. Lora cherished her 5 grandchildren.

Surviving is husband John Hicks of the home, daughter Patricia “Poot” Bennett husband Chris, their children Austin and Elizabeth, of Webb City, son Corky Hicks wife Chelsea and their children Owyn, Parker, and Charlotte, of Riverton, bonus daughter Jayme and husband Kevin of Galena, Mom Marcia Ross of Carl Junction, Brother Jay Madison and wife Eve of Carl Junction, Brother Joe Madison and wife Glenda of Alba, Sister Alice Madison of Carl Junction, Sister Dennel Crabtree and husband Rick of Carterville, sister Kristi Collins and husband Darryl of Webb City, step dad John Swager Sr. of Carl Junction, sister Regina Payton and husband Dwight Payton Sr. of Carl Junction, brother John Swager. Jr. and wife Crystal of Carl Junction, and numerous niece and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Lora was preceded in death by father Jiggs Madison, Aunt Mable and Uncle Jack Lowery, and numerous other grandparents, aunts and uncles.







The family will be having a private ceremony on Friday, September 19th. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, September 20th at 3 o clock at the Galena Senior Center. All family and friends are welcome.
