(From Ozark Funeral Home)Gary Ray Durham, age 64, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his residence. He entered this life on January 28, 1961, in Joplin, Missouri, born to the union of the late Gene and Joyce (morgan) Durham.
He was raised in Anderson, Missouri, and was a 1979 graduate of McDonald County High School. Gary dedicated his life to the service of others, working as a waiter for many years.
For the last two decades, Gary made his home in Kansas City, where he continued to cultivate relationships and spread joy through his work and daily interactions. His passion for shopping was well-known, as he took great pleasure in finding the perfect gifts for his loved ones, a testament to his thoughtful nature.
He is survived by one son, Derek Durham, Sr., of Anderson, Missouri; two grandchildren, Felecity Barkfelt and husband, CJ, of Anderson and Derek Durham, Jr. also of Anderson; a great-granddaughter, Joyce Barkfelt; two siblings, Mark Durham and wife, Kerry and Charlotte Spencer and husband, Sam, all of Anderson; his ex-wife, Ellen Smith of Anderson; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends. Gary's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025 at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri with Pastor Derald Compton officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
