(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Allen Jackson Simmons, 76, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at his home. Allen was born in Tunnel Hill, Illinois, on June 16, 1949, to Homer (Jo) and Evelyn Simmons.
Allen graduated from the Vienna High School in Vienna, Illinois, with the class of 1967 and then went on to graduate from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. He worked for Leggett and Platt, Murphy Farms, CFI, Quality Lawncare and Landscaping, US Motors, and ran his own business called Components Inc. He was a member of the VFW Post 2590 Auxiliary, of Vienna Masonic Lodge #150, and the morning coffee club. Allen liked to do volunteer work for the VFW and Miracle League. He and his better half, Laurie Walter, have been together for 20 years.
Along with Laurie, he is survived by his children, Jesse Lima and ex-husband Edvaldo Lima of Kansas City, Christina Walter of Carthage, Lee Walter Jr. of Republic, and Angela Walter-Rosario (Thomas Rosario) of Joplin; and grandchildren, Anthony Jackson Lima, Ella Grace Walter, Miah Kait Walter, and Victoria Paul.
Per Allen’s wishes he will be cremated. His family will host a celebration of life for him at the Carthage VFW Post 2590 on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
