Betty M. Muskrat, 87, Carthage, formerly of Neosho, died March 22, 2017 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, following an illness.
Betty was born Jan 18, 1930 in Fairview, MO, the daughter of Henry and Mae (Estes) Paden. She graduated from Midway High School and had worked as a legal secretary and as secretary at the First Baptist Church in Neosho for sixteen years prior to retirement. She lived most of her life in the southwest Missouri area and loved children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage.
Betty and Tom Muskrat, Sr. were married on Aug. 27, 1950 in Noel and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Mark Muskrat of Neosho and Tom Muskrat, Jr. of Carthage; three grandchildren, Roxie Muskrat, Karen Brasier and Nicholas Muskrat, six great grandchildren; two sisters, Treva Wolgamott of Neosho and Neva Kilber of Mesa, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Muskrat, brother, Lloyd Paden and daughter in law, Darla Muskrat.
Services for Betty will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church in Carthage, Rev. Jack Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dice Cemetery, Fairview, MO. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
