Donna Jean Stefka, age 82, Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away at 3:22 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Via Christi Village after an illness.
Donna was born March 16, 1935 in Billings, Missouri to the late James Alvin Adkins and Delilah O. Hemphill Adkins and had lived in Joplin most of her life.
A homemaker, Donna had worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and an office receptionist. She was a former member of College Heights Christian Church in Joplin. She enjoyed watching children play little league ball and with Cub Scouts.
Donna married Leonard John Stefka on February 14, 1957 in Carl Junction. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Wade Stefka, Fort Scott, Kansas, David Stefka, Linn, Missouri; a brother, Alvin Adkins and his wife, Marta, Joplin; four grandchildren, Kyle, Kaila, Erica, Aleksander and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by a daughter, Ronda Jean.
Funeral services are planned for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Parker Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the mortuary.
