Elnora Willadean Boykin, age 89, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.
Elnora was born March 2, 1928 in Butler, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Sarah Williams Brackeen. She worked for F.A.G. Bearing for over 25 years. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Harmony Grand Chapter Vashti Chapter #39, and the NAACP. She also worked as a school crossing guard for the Joplin Schools. She enjoyed bowling, working word search puzzles, and watching wrestling, both on television and at Memorial Hall in Joplin years ago. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Taylor, great-grandchildren, ZaRayla, Jayden, three infant great-grandchildren, also Roland Boykin, Sr.
Survivors include her daughters, Paula Hodges and husband Pastor Jerry Hodges of St. Louis, Missouri, Jackie Boykin of Joplin; son, Roland Boykin, Jr. and wife Mary of Wilmington, Illinois; grandchildren, Shelly Riley of Chicago, Jeremy Boykin and wife Kari of Neosho, Jermaine Boykin and wife Amanda of Joplin, LaShanna Hugley and husband Raymond of Joplin, and LaDonna Martin of Glen Burnie, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Jada, ZayShon, Donovan, Kensli, Scarlet, and Wyatt.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Nero and Pastor Jerry Hodges officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Nurses and Staff at Spring River Christian Village for their loving care of Elnora over the past few years.
