Mary Alice Riley, age 96 of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Mary was born on July 13, 1920 in Joplin, the daughter of Oliver and Anne (Stephens) Hartje. She has been a lifetime area resident, Mary worked for Elders Manufacturing and Big Smith as a sewing operator before retiring in 1980. She loved quilting and gardening flowers in her spare time.
She married Gordon Riley on August 17, 1946, he preceded her in death on October 6, 1997. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter; Carol Jean Riley, a grandson; Jason Riley, nine brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three sons; Gordon Riley and wife Linda of Carthage, Mo., John Riley and wife Kitty of Joplin, Bob Riley and wife Roberta of Willard, Mo., one daughter; Betsy Moehr and husband Tony of Joplin, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
