Sherry ( Pickard) Bennett, age 80, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Medicalodge in Columbus, Ks. following a lengthy illness. Sherry was born January 31, 1937 in Joplin, Mo. and had lived in Joplin most of her life. She was employed as a Surgical Technician with St. John’s Regional Medical Center for approximately 10 years, retiring in 1995. Sherry was a member of the Villa Heights Christian Church.
Sherry married Tommy Bennett October 4, 1988 in Miami, Ok. and he survives. Additional survivors include a son, Jimmy Gailey and wife Sue, Benton, Ar., five daughters, Pamela Belmonte and husband Bob , Grand Rapids, Mi., Jayleen Sweet and husband Ron, Joplin, Mo.,
Rachel Murray and husband Jimmy, Carl Junction, Mo., Rebecca Sandberg and husband David, Pittsburg, Ks., and Kelly Walters and husband Dr. Brad, Corrales, NM, one brother, Russell W. Pickard, Joplin, Mo., two sisters, Lorraine Billingsley and husband Jim, Independence, Mo., and Carolyn Estes, Sunrise Beach, Mo., 14 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy Kay Gailey, and a brother Bobby Simms.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Villa Heights Christian Church with Truman Brady, Minister, Officiating. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary
