Ken Dininger

Kenneth W. Dininger, age 88 of Carl Junction, Mo. passed on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

Ken was born on December 18,1928 on a farm home southeast of Jasper, Mo. He was the son of the late Carl and Edna (Gresham) Dininger. He served in the Korean War from March 1951to 1953. He was part of the 5th A.A.A. Battalion as a lateral gun pointer. He earned the rank of Corporal and was one of the first to be drafted during that war.

He lived in Carthage, Mo. in the same house for 40 years. Ken worked for Flex-O-Lators for 44 and a half years. Upon retirement, he moved to the Briarbrook Community of Carl Junction, Mo. where he and his wife resided for the last 25 years. Ken was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Webb City, Mo., he loved baseball and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinal since early childhood. Ken also enjoyed working in his beautiful yard.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Kathryn Dalton, brother, Melvin Dininger and his precious cats Spooky and Toot Toot.

Ken married Beatrice McKnight in Noel, Mo. on September 4, 1950. They were married for 66 years, she survives. Additional survivors include his daughter; Vicki Coots and husband Jim of Carl Junction, two grandsons; Jamie Coots and significant other Tammy, Joey Coots, two great-grandchildren; Dylan Coots and Nicholas Moore, and his niece, Kathy Selvey.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the Joplin Humane Society or Emmanuel Baptist Church in Webb City in care of the mortuary.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Webb City. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Carthage. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation at the funeral home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
