Mrs. Carolyn Kay McGuffey, 74, of Stella, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family after a recent decline in health.
Carolyn entered this life on August 9, 1942, in Pineville, Missouri, daughter of the late Maurice and Doris (Kane) Ellis. She was a lifelong resident of McDonald County, Missouri and a 1960 graduate of Rocky Comfort High School. On January 16, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Ray McGuffey and to this union a son and daughter were born. Throughout her life, she was a hardworking and devoted homemaker as well as a helpmate to her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed fishing, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and visiting area casinos. Carolyn was a member of the Union Chapel Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-six years, Kenneth McGuffey on July 10, 2016; and one brother, Ron Ellis.
Carolyn is survived by her two children, Billy Ray McGuffey and wife, Terri, of Neosho, Missouri and Melinda Parsons and husband, Ron, of Stella, Missouri; five grandchildren, Megan Knox and husband, Zach, of Stella, Missouri, Tiffany Lewis and husband, Ryan, of Pineville, Missouri, Ryan Lawson and husband, Zach, of Grove, Oklahoma, Mattie Woodrum and husband, Alfred, of Neosho, Missouri and Caleb McGuffey and wife, Vanessa, of Grove, Oklahoma; six great grandchildren, Rayne Knox, Skye Knox, Kole Lewis, Payton Lewis, Aiden and Zane Ray McGuffey; two sisters, Ruth Ann Goostree of Wheaton, Missouri and Janell Brattin also of Wheaton; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Carolyn.
Funeral services for Mrs. McGuffey are 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Mark Sumler officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri. Doug Goostree, Dan Goostree, Caleb McGuffey, Matthew Francisco, Ryan Lewis, Zach Knox, Zach Lawson and Alfred Woodrum will honor her life by serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the Union Chapel Church c/o the funeral home.
