Larry "Jay" Williams, age 63 of Carl Junction, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin following a sudden illness.
Jay was born July 1, 1953 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Dale Williams and Mary Jean Foster Williams. He was a graduate of Carl Junction High School in 1971 and later received his Bachelors Degree from Missouri Southern State College. Jay worked for Empire Electric in the Accounting Department for over 30 years. He was an avid traveler and loved Webb City athletics. He was a former school board member for the Carl Junction Schools and also was a former deacon with First Baptist Church in Carl Junction. Jay was a huge Mizzou fan and a recent Arizona Diamondback fan due to a grandson being drafted into their ball program. He was the newest fan of Maplewoods Metropolitan Community College where his grandson recently signed to play college baseball. He attended services at Christ Church of Oronogo.
On March 11, 1973, Jay married Lana Williams in Carl Junction and she survives of the home in Carl Junction.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Megan Long and husband, Josh of Webb City, the world's best Pappaw to Breckin Williams and girlfriend, Morgan Salmons, Channing Mickey, Austyn Mickey and Kirra Long; sisters, Mary Kay Walker and husband, Skip of Joplin, Teresa Mitchell and Ann Williams, both of Webb City; brother, Cory Williams of Joplin; step mother, Nancy Williams of Joplin and three step siblings.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Church of Oronogo with a visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Webb City Athletics Booster Club in care of the mortuary.
