Margaret Murray

Margaret S. Coit-Murray, age 87, of Joplin, passed away on Monday November 27, 2017, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, following a long illness.

Margaret was born on January 12, 1930 in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Grendzinski) Glad. Margaret has lived in the Joplin area most of her life. She married Ronald W. Coit and Ed Murray. She was a Catholic. She worked as a sales associate for Newman’s Department Store retiring in 1993. She was also a licensed private pilot. She was a member of the Women’s Business Club of Joplin. She enjoyed gardening and oil painting.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Darryl Coit and wife Darlene, Joplin, and Terry Coit and wife Karen, Blue Springs, Mo.; three sisters, Joan Hess, Kennewick, Wa., Helen Coit, Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Ann Lively, Kansas City, Ks.; four grandchildren, Angela Paige and husband Matt, Christopher Coit and wife Candice, Dustin Coit and wife Kate, and Lindsay Phillips and husband Jason; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Justin Monoghan and Reverend Dr. Colleen Carroll will officiate. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s association in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
