(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Dorothy G. Clark, 99 of Baxter Springs, KS left her earthly home on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Galena Nursing Center. Dorothy was born August 23, 1926 in rural St. Charles, South Dakota to Frank and Sophia (Herman) Peoples. She graduated from Colome High School in South Dakota.
Dorothy worked at the Holiday Inn and Rafters Restaurant in Joplin for over 26 years. Dorothy married George Clark on October 4, 1959. He preceded her in death in 2013. Also preceding her in death are her parents; five brothers; stepson, Albert Clark; great grandson, Hunter McDonald.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Dean McDonald and David McDonald (Gayle) both of Oklahoma. Four grandchildren, Carey, Melissa, Stephanie, and Lindsay. Seven great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; sister, Irene Eastbrook of Hawaii.
Dorothy and her dear friend Wanda were two of the people that helped with Meals on Wheels, Men’s prayer breakfast and the thrift shop when they first begun. Dorothy was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans. She was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church.
Dorothy has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. Private family burial will take place at the Baxter Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences maybe expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
